Placed an order around 6:30 p.m. online, was given a 7:34 p.m. pick up time. Arrived at 7:25 p.m. to find about 15 people waiting. Then overheard orders have been cancelled because they're running out of food. At 7:52 p.m. I was finally able to find put about my order and was told about 30 more minutes. At 8:22 p.m. I was informed MAYBE 10 more minutes. Got my food about 8:30 p.m. and went home. Found out I was missing two sides with an order. The food was okay. Nothing too great. This is the first time I've eaten here. My impression of it wasn't all that great. Who knows what the real cause for this was, but I know I'm not the only displeased customer tonight. read more

Well I've been told this is the best Mexican food in COS. So, I really wanted to try it. I lived in Mexico, Texas and California and know good Mexican food and can make good Mexican food. My neighbor had also recommended it to us. Had to try it! It was a Wednesday, the 3rd and Happy Hour time, so about 5pm. We went in and saw the sign saying seat yourself, we did. Another, party of 4 came in and sat right next to us. The waiter ( a heavy set male) promptly gave them menus, chip, and salsa greeting them nicely, came back and gave them waters and told them he'd be right back and get their drink orders. Never said anything to us. Didn't even acknowledge we were even there. A simple be right with you would have been nice and appropriate, but to totally disregard we were even there?!? Wow! Didn't even mind that he served the other group before us, but didn't say anything not even a F off! Sad very very sad. Being a Disabled American Vet and being treated with total disrespect is just not what I would have expected. My family has been in the culinary business for over 100 years. I don't care how good the food is I'll never put up with such horrible service, even if it was free. And it's not a restaurant ambiance it's very cafe style not very nice. read more

Very happy with our visit. Granted is was bolstered by a BOGO coupon which was nice. Had the chimichanga special. Nice size and tasty. Great, ice cold beer and Wife said wine was decent. This is our go-to spot for Mexican fare in the Colorado Springs area! I love to start with the House Margarita, frozen - but also available on the rocks if you prefer. The chips are delivered warm, accompanied by 2 salsa's: the traditional red salsa, and a cabbage-based salsa that provides a nice contrast. I seldom stray far from my favorite house dish, Cipriana's Tamale Platter. It's outstanding! I also recommend the charro beans as an occasional alternative to refried beans - and I never vary my second side dish, which is the Calabacita: veggies (mostly a yellow and green squash dish, topped with cheese). I'm hooked! These 2 sides are quite tasty, and may be a tad more healthy than the rice and refries sides I see as standard offerings at other Mexican restaurants. I promise myself that one day soon I'll get adventurous and try the enchiladas, or maybe a burrito, but the tamales are just so good that I haven't been able to pull myself away from them! I'll also vouch for the service at La Mission. Javier has come to recognize us, and he always takes good care of us and makes sure my wife's gluten-free restrictions are carefully addressed. And finally, for those of us who think that a locally owned, kind of a "hole-in-the-wall" smaller Mexican restaurant is the best kind - this is your spot!!! The small bar adds to the flavor and ambiance of this space too. Although La Mission occupies a space in a small rural community strip mall, once inside the ambiance is exactly what I dream of when I think of a wonderful, local Mexican establishment. If 0 stars was an option I would. I made a yelp account just to let others know about my experience. Normally I wouldn't care but the owner was very rude. The food was grade D Meat. A Frozen Burrito from Walmart tastes better than what I purchased here. When I complained about the mess that was sitting on my plate the owner came out to the table and TOLD me that there is nothing wrong with it and demanded that I would still have to pay for it. Why should I pay for a plate I obviously didn't eat? So we argued about it for about 5 mins then he stomped off like a upset child. LA MISSON DO BETTER. We will start with the positive. Our server was very friendly and because we liked the coleslaw salsa she brought a big bowl of it. The Margarita was quite tasty. We were surprised that the restaurant was so small and seemed more like a lunch stop than a dinner place. I tend to judge Mexican restaurants by their ability to cook Carne Asada. Here we had a Carne Asada burrito which was just OK, and a steak burrito and that was about two steps down for my Carne Asada burrito. The food was bland in general. The rice and beans were nothing special. We came here once but wouldn't come here again. I think the biggest thing we would say is that this just didn't taste like good authentic Mexican food and wasn't anything special for the price. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars rather than 5 is because I've had better margaritas. I've actually been twice when I couldn't even find the margarita menu. Within a few seconds a tall gentlemen brought menus and silverware but he was talking on the cell phone. No greeting whatsoever... nothing.. just continued his phone conversation as if we were not present. He laid the menus and silverware in a pile on the table and walked away. What a TERRIBLE greeting. Take notice folks, this is a GREAT place for a meal. A Falcon GEM. As you enter it is warm and friendly. chips are warm, fresh and tasty. The salsa is the best I've had in a long time anywhere. The chopped pickled cabbage is great on the chips or on a flour tortilla. My husband got the steak fajita, and it was awesome! Seasoned correctly and very flavorful. I got the shredded chicken in a flour tortilla with a cream sauce, charro beans and grilled squash - fan-freakin'-awesome. We finished dinner with a cherry empanada and flan. Again, the best I've had in a long long time. We won't be driving into the Springs for Mexican food, we'll make the 3 mile trip to our favorite new place! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I have to say, their food was good. My complaint was that there were smaller portions as compared to other Mexican restaurants. For example, I ordered sopapillas and there was only one. And this side was $4! I was expecting at least 4 when I ordered them. Also, the prices are high. I ordered two dinners one kids meal and three sides and paid $80! If the food was well portioned and the taste was phenomenal I would not mind paying $80. But the food was about the same as any other Mexican restaurant. I was very disappointed. read more

So I sat down at La Mission, and while looking at my menu glanced around the restaurant... There was something wrong and I couldn't quite place it... and then I realized that no one had beer on their table. In my mind, Mexican food and beer simply come together. Luckily, La Mission just hasn't received their liquor license. Acceptable. The restaurant is in a strip mall in Peyton, but it's a cute enough space. The salsa was a little too much like pizza sauce... as if they used regular canned tomatoes that come with Italian seasonings. It's very close to being really good salsa though. Needed more cilantro. The second batch we got was much better (so the first one clearly wasn't THAT bad). I got a chile relleno and it reminded me of a really big cheddar pepper from Sonic. The red sauce was decent, and the beans and rice were nothing special, but not bad. I haven't found any fantastic Mexican food in the Front Range area, but I'll keep looking. read more

Outstanding! My favorite Mexican restaurant for miles! I was raised in Southern California and travel to western Mexico twice a year - so I know my Mexican food - this place really has authentic flavor. The carnitas is amazing and the calabacita is delicious. Burritos, tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas...mmm Although I am not a huge fan of their rice recipe, I have sampled just about everything on the menu and have never been disappointed or been served something I did not like. Every time I eat here my hunger is satisfied to the point of not being able to take another bite! Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. La Mission has been serving alcohol for the past several months and nothing could be better now that I can enjoy a delicious Mexican meal with a Corona or a Modelo. I have yet to try the margaritas here. If you are in the area, I highly recommend this restaurant. If you know your Mexican food, you will not be disappointed. I would drive a considerable distance to eat here, but lucky for me, I live only about 8 miles away! read more

We've been here a few times over the last two years. Sometimes service is a little slow. However the food is always good and the employees are ALWAYS incredibly nice. Over the last few months we have ordered delivery nearly weekly. Online ordering is very easy through their website, even shows updates on status of order/delivery. Food is delivered so quickly every time. Food has been hot and drinks cold with every delivery. My husband is a big fan of the chicken enchiladas. I prefer their chile relleno, which is my favorite of the restaurants we've been to since moving to Colorado. Our daughter loves their bean and cheese burritos and spanish rice. So much that I always order an extra so she can have it for lunch the next day. read more

Have been eating here for years, best Mexican food in Colorado Springs/Falcon. Service is always good, staff is friendly and the food is great/authentic. My favorite is the grilled pork & avocado burrito smothered in hot green chili and a bottle of Modelo Especial... delicious. The green chili is excellent, recommend any dish that includes it. On occasion, I will take the hot green chili home and mix it up eggs in the morning. Since I like my food very spicy, they are even kind enough to prepare extra spicy salsa every time I dine there, which is two-three times a month.
