Everything about my first visit to this ice cream shop was perfect! Located at a very busy intersection, it was easy entry into the parking lot and parking was a breeze. The exterior of this shop was clean and had large signage and flags so you can't miss it. The interior was roomy, clean and well organized. The variety of items offered and the numerous flavors and sizes of all of their juices and ice cream including ingredients were clearly posted on the menu boards hanging on the walls behind the counter. Figured ice cream is ice cream, so might as well go for the authentic popsicles. Ended up with 5 flavors de leche and 1 passion fruit de agua. Wife got the 2 coffee flavors, think she preferred the regular coffee vs. cappuccino. Kid loved his cookies and cream one. Few days later he enjoyed the passionfruit and I got a bite out of it and it was very refreshing and full flavored. I got some arroz con leche and horchata. Horchata was ok. I thoroughly enjoyed the Arroz Con Leche! The textures of rice in every bite and the simple tasty flavor, it was my favorite! Kinda like tiny harder chewier frozen boba, lol. Suggested wife try a bite but she doesn't like cinnamon so she missed out on the amazing texture of the Arroz Con Leche. These are solid dense popsicles and 1 is enough to satisfy as a dessert. Great spot, I ordered the tostilocos and a bunch of their paletas. I will do be coming back to try more of their stuff. The staff was amazing super friendly and kind and also gave us recommendations on what to try and offered samples. I don't know if the selections are normal but they only had three chocolates and they seemed the same. I did notice plenty of space for more, so maybe it was an off day. The other negative is parking. It's on the corner of Valley View and Imperial, so no street parking. There are some spaces in the back of the store. The store is clean with clearly identified markings for social distancing and the clerks were all wearing masks. My family and I have been waiting for this place to open! Since their soft opening, we have been back several times and have tried many of their items and flavors. The business is so easy to find and in a great location, right on the corner of Imperial and Valley View. First off, I would like to point out that even after opening during a pandemic I felt safe and felt they have implemented many safety measures. They controlled the amount of people in the shop, the employees wear masks and gloves at all times and they make sure customers are wearing masks too. They were constantly cleaning all surfaces and also had hand sanitizer available for guests. I'm sure it has not been easy with all of these new rules and regulations in place, but they made everything run seamlessly. Next, the service is amazing. They greet everyone that walks in the door. Even though they are busy, they make sure to acknowledge each and every guest with a welcome. Lastly, the items we tried we all amazing. We tried the following paleta flavors: arroz con leche, pistachio, Oreo, sandia (watermelon), lime, chocolate, and melon. The fruity paletas have nice pieces of fruit throughout and are so refreshing during these summer days. The milky paletas are also amazing. The arroz con leche and pistachio are our household favorites. We also tried their agua frescas in the fruititas flavor....soooo delicious!! Very flavorful and filled with different varieties of fruits. The esquites (corn) is also a must try! All in all this is going to be our new favorite place to visit for goodies in our hometown. Today I visited La Michocana and I was so excited to hear about this location opening up. I know every Michocana is different, but the service at this place blew away my expectations. When I arrived, there were three people ahead of me but the girls were so hard-working the line went by super fast. When I approached the counter I came face to face with a beautiful girl named Judy. She gave me a huge smile and asked me how she could help. To be honest, I was so caught off guard by her bubbly personality I forgot what I was going to order. This place is terribly expensive. I paid just over $19 for a paleta and two medium ice cream cups. I believe each medium cup includes two scoops. Also, the $1 extra charge for use of credit card is extortion! Bottom line, I'm not going back! If you want, IMO, better ice cream and better prices, go to the Michoacana at the Whittier Quad on Painter and Whittier...and they have more products!
