La Michoacana (Covina) caused my jaw to fall open. The fruit ice cream is shockingly luxurious. The mango fruit ice cream tasted like fluffy, freshly mashed, thick mangos. It's the best mango ice cream that I've ever tasted.... One scoop costs $4.99. Two scoops cost $6.99. La Michoacana (Covina) is hidden in a large dingy plaza. Yet, as you enter, you're transported to a friendly, attractive, Mexican ice cream parlor. The wide location is vibrant and very clean. Its tables are shiny, and it's well-ventilated. Bright Mexican music plays in the background. I arrived on a weekend (around 6:20pm) and it was packed with customers. Staff and customers happily chatted in Spanish. Staff is very helpful. The lady scooping the ice cream spoke English and Spanish. And the extremely friendly, cheerful lady at the register spoke primarily Spanish. The purchase went very smoothly. La Michoacana (Covina) is absolutely a secret gem. It's one of the best fruit ice cream locations in SGV. As mentioned prior, the mango ice cream is exceptionally good. If I'd eaten it at a Gordon Ramsey restaurant, I wouldn't have questioned it. Unfortunately, the strawberry fruit ice cream was less exceptional. I loved the soft, frozen, diced pieces of strawberries, but the strawberry ice cream had a very common (strawberry milk) taste. (Quick Tip: 50 cents extra cost for card. Bring cash.) Overall, La Michoacana (Covina) is popular for a good reason. The fruit ice cream (especially the mango) is a magical, unique experience. In that scoop, I found bliss. I recommend. 5/5

was craving some sweets after dinner and this was right next door! haven't stepped into one in forever but it was pretty occupied inside until closing. we sampled a variety of flavors, both traditional and non traditional, but ended up choosing the strawberry con fresca one because they use actual strawberry fruit bits and it didn't taste artificial as you'd think! not too sweet but fulfilling for a lil sweet treat kek

I had just had a great lunch and dessert was next up. This spot was close by and it had all the desserts I was looking for. I just had a nuez paleta and it was delicious. The ice cream scoop version is always good but in paleta form it's easier to eat, just be careful with the ice cream drips. Solid amount of desserts and snacks to choose from also. I'd definitely come back here to try their other menu items.

06/30/2019 Here for dessert where you can get ice cream, ice, popsicles, chamango, and everything else you want. I wanted fruit ice like sorbet. There was more value with the flavors in a big cup. That's what I keep telling myself. Next time I will try a paleta.

YUMMM!!! stopped in to buy some ice cream for my brother since he just had surgery... love their selection! ive been here several times in the past and have always been so impressed with their wide range of flavors!! they have so many different kinds of sweets, from drinks, popsicles, to scoops and baked goods... yummm!!! the service is good, but it's often that they're understaffed so please bare with them. otherwise, the treats are sooo yumm and the staff frequently washes their hands. it gets packed here so be prepared to wait a few minutes. the wait is worth it!

The food here is good, no question. The service is fast and the employees are friendly. You can get food for takeout or eat inside. The restaurant was very clean, and the food/snacks were very tasty. You get what you pay for, so the prices are a bit on the high side, but well worth it. I will definitely be returning to try the tacos, street hotdogs, burritos, etc.

Huge Fan ,wished I had stopped by sooner. This place has all varieties of home made Ice cream pops (Palletas) beyond choices . Just the right about of sweetness, mild perfectly made. If your craving fruit only ,all fresh or you can add there popular ingredients offered: coconut shavings, granolas, raisins and there famous cream (cream) absolutely delicious ! My favorite to order ,I make sure to ask for Large Freshly made daily "Fresa con Leche" strawberries with milk. I crave it everyday ,served over Ice They offer so many other choices. The menu is endless with treats.

I happen to be in the area driving down Azusa and saw the La Michoacana sign so I had to stop, while La Michoacana might not be the best ice cream you can find, they do offer unique flavors you won't find in most Ice Cream shops. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-michoacana-covina?select=p35kP9fZC0WsdtdNqunuVg 2 Scoops ($4.89) https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-michoacana-covina?select=9Nb9gYiex6FYsKNANJJCZQ Bottom is Cajeta/Caramel with Maria's Gamesa, Top is Mango Sorbet with Chamoy. *For those that might be asking what is Chamoy - It's a very popular condiment in Mexico made from dehydrated fruit such Apricot, Mango or Plums, or a combination of... and Chili Powder, Salt, Sugar, and some Lemon Juice, Chamoy is Sweet, Spicy, and Tangy. Cajeta - I found it to be very sweet, not to my liking and I tossed most of it, IF you like VERY SWEET this might be a flavor for you, personally I couldn't recommend. 1-Star Mango con Chamoy https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-michoacana-covina?select=Q7vxQjZaFlkUSUkFq0NuxA The Mango sorbet had great flavor, not too sweet, the Chamoy had a little kick of spice and a lot of Tanginess, a little too tangy but overall, this was a winner. 4-Stars

Had the receipt text to me since I had no idea what anything cost.

Everything was delicious. Their menu had all the prices erased, so a star off for blind ordering. Attached a pic of my receipt. Chocolate banana was unripe, but I still enjoyed it. The ones you getting Newport Beach are are better because the banana flavor comes through more. All the paletas were 5/5. I tried the kiwi, strawberry, passion fruit and tamarind.

The gelato is velvety & soft with prominent flavor profiles. It's tasty. (Important Note: Bring cash. Card has a small additional fee, about 3.5% extra. Also, there's no flavor sampling.) I arrived at Il Gusto (West Covina) on Monday (around 7:29pm). This location shares the busy parking plaza by 85 Degrees (West Covina). Fortunately, it was easy to find parking this evening. Staff is professional and helpful. Staff worked quickly, and staff answered all my questions. Line went very fast despite a group being ahead of me. As mentioned, I ordered the Medium Cup (2 Scoops - $8). I selected a milk chocolate scoop and a cookies-flavored scoop. Portion sizes are fair and adequate for its quality. The flavors are delicious. The milk chocolate scoop reminded me of rich, dark chocolate milk. Its consistency felt very velvety, and its strong chocolate flavor almost teetered towards chocolate brownie territory. The cookie-flavored scoop was very tasty as well. This scoop flowed smoothly, and I happily enjoyed the soft cookie chunks within. This had a milder taste, but it felt very satisfying. This gelato was not icy; rather, it had delightful flavors while flowing like chilled silk. Concerning ambiance, Il Gusto (West Covina) shows genuine effort. The location is very clean and well-ventilated (refreshingly chill). I also enjoyed the Elvis Presley music. However, the music was occasionally drowned out from the loud electronic buzzing/humming sounds from the kitchen's containers. Also, some portions of the walls and floors looked scuffed with black marks. Il Gusto (West Covina) is also fairly small. It has three reflective tables inside; customer-only restroom; and three nearby shaded tables outside. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Il Gusto (West Covina). Its prices are adequate, the gelato is a good quality, and the staff is hardworking & helpful. If nearby, I recommend. 4.6 out of 5

Staff speaks English and Spanish. Staff answered all my questions. I ordered the Churro Sundae ($10). This dessert includes one scoop of ice cream and two six inch churros. I selected the Chocolate Malted Crunch ice cream scoop. The entire dessert was ready in eight minutes and 16 seconds. The dessert arrived picturesque. The Churro Sundae ($10) is attractive and fairly large; however, its taste is underwhelming. Although it felt like the churros were made-to-order in the backroom, the churros tasted bitter, chewy, and overcooked. These churros also lacked sweetness. Rather, these big churros tasted like chunky breadcrumbs. Fortunately, the Chocolate Malted Crunch ice cream scoop tasted delicious! It had an addictive crumbly texture. The ice cream also carried a chill and creamy chocolate flavor. Regarding ambiance, Churro Boss (Covina) is lackluster. It feels empty. The only seating is one long counter which had splotchy dried stains and crumbs. The location also has no restroom. Customers need to use their bottle of hand sanitizer or napkins if searching to clean their hands. There's two electric wall sockets in the far corner. They let me know all the different desserts and options. They also explained pricing and availability to me. They showed me all the different toppings that they have for not just ice cream and sundaes, but crêpes as well. Considering I walked in here, thinking that this was strictly an ice cream place, they have a very large menu. One thing that I remember very fondly about my visit here was not that there were a lot of people here, but the people that were dining in, they were mostly families with children. That may not seem like an important thing, but to me, seeing that is precious More often than not, you see children, their parents, and even their parents parents. So sometimes you get a small group of people, but really you have three generations. Quality time like that is absolutely precious and to see them so engaged in conversation with one another and laughing the entire time and sharing dessert, that was so awesome. Sharing ice cream with my dad at an ice cream parlor near our home is a very fond memory for me. So I guess that's why I paid attention to this while we died at scoop Street. When I took a moment to take a step back and look at our little family, we also were there in our lil three generational group: me, my kiddo & my Mom. The prices here are more than reasonable. The ice cream that is used for their desserts is from thrifty. The waffle cones are made in house and smell amazing. Also, they bake cookies and brownies in-house daily using family recipes to use in their custom ice cream sandwiches and sundaes. Plenty of parking since it's located in a strip mall.
