Oh my goodness! How have I not been here before!? On first impression, it is just an absolutely lovely restaurant on the inside. I love the decor, but I especially adore the detailed hand-painted depictions on the wooden booths. Not sure if I liked that or the $5 margaritas more! A group of gal pals and I met at La Mesa for some grub and drinks. We walked out refreshed by margaritas and stuffed with chips. We ordered the nachos and gabbed the night away until we went into tortilla chip coma. The service was attentive, and considering we were pretty close to shutting the place down, all staff was accommodating, kind and didn't rush us out. Can't wait to return and try more items! read more

Every location I've been to of La Mesa's has been the same. Same atmosphere, super nice staff, TERRIBLE food. Not only will you not care for the food you'll get, you'll also hate the price! Explaining the food in one word. . . dry. My husband said he'd be better off with refried beans from a can. Even the soggy wet dishes somehow taste dry. (It should be studied) One thing they do get right are the drinks! If you're looking for good Mexican food this is not the place for you. read more

If you like genuine authentic Mexican food I would highly recommend trying La Mesa!! The environment was very beautiful and the staff were super friendly. The menu had a ton of options that were true to my Mexican heritage. I ordered the good ole reliable torta de asada and my fiancé had the enchiladas sucias. The rice and frijoles were so good. Highly recommend this establishment. Thank you Mesa! We'll be back again read more

Very festive Mexican decor. When visiting in the evening its almost like being at a local Cantina. Fast and friendly service. If you dont mind hustle and bustle of cleanup around you as the usher in the next customers. Typical margaritas and food choices. Would love to see them have specials to spice it up a bit read more

It was pretty good for Omaha. I had the chimichanga and my wife had the enchilada and hard shell taco. They were all pretty good. I didn't think the cheese sauce belonged on the enchilada. read more

There is no more to say about La Mesa Mexican Restaurant..... Food is delicious and fresh. Staff is awesome and very attentive . This is one of few restaurants l do not need to worry much about food allergies, once I tell the server I am confident cooking staff will abbot any cross contamination.... The ambient is very family oriented. Plenty of parking. read more

This location is still providing great service and great tasting food. I still keep going back for the fajitas that are plentiful and don't disappoint. My son has decided he loves some type of fish that they have there, but my wife and I can share the lunch fajitas and still leave full but not miserable. Love the beers they have on tap as well. read more

This is one of our go to restaurants that's close to our house. The service is usually quick, and the food is pretty tasty. Sometimes we stop in just for drinks and dip, but the main thing we used to go for is their mixed fajitas. They have a huge selection of tequila if you're a margarita fan. I personally think you can't go wrong with ordering their guacamole, their house salsa, and their cheese dip. Also, like the fact that they have a reward system. Every 100 points gets you a $10 gift card! read more

Enchiladas where not good putting cheese sauce does not make of Enchiladas. TORTILLAS was raw

Service was great however the food not so. Have been coming to this restaurant for years and they let us down tonight. The chips were not warm and fresh which maybe they are not made in house. Food was lukewarm and skimpy on the meats but good on the shrimp. Will be a while till we come back. read more

Lots of parking, festive atmosphere, and quick seating... probably the pros of this spot. Service was decent but the food simply lacked flavor and the texture was more akin to microwaved tortillas. read more

We had an okay time at this location, I think in general it was our fault because given the choice, we picked a booth that was out of sight for our server making it easy to forget us. The kids got burgers and fries, which I love because I enjoy their crispy fries. We tried the ceviche, and I also got the jalapeno margarita, both we're so fresh and tasty. As usual I over did it eating their chips and salsa that I only could eat a little of the steak fajitas, but it made for a delicious breakfast the next day. Not even a slower service would keep me from coming back, we love La Mesa. read more

I have been here for dinner several times with my family and I have never had a bad experience with the service or the food here... That's the sign of a good restaurant... I usually have the cheese quesadilla ala cart and the individual salsa bowls are a great idea! So I applaud the service and the food isn't too bad or expensive but I don't really drink anything... read more

The tostada I had was excellent. The quality of the ingredients was better than most Mexican restaurants in the area. The service was good as usual. It is a very comfortable place to eat. The prices are ok but just a little higher. read more

La mesa never lets me down. We start with the queso which is absolutely amazing. It pairs nicely with the complementary chips and salsa you are given. I ordered chicken and beef nachos for my main meal which is wonderful. We also ordered chicken enchiladas which hit the spot. The pomegranate margarita was delicious and not too sweet and really made the meal. Our server was attentive and very helpful. We received refills on chips and drinks in a timely matter. The atmosphere is festive but not too overwhelming. I enjoy the booth seating because each chair is decorated differently which makes the experience unique! Never a let down read more

I've been going to La Mesa for the past 3 years, ever since I moved here. I love the ambience and their margaritas. I've always ordered El Grande Margarita, a 45 ounce glass on the rocks. It's a better deal than ordering 2 of the smaller glasses. The last couple of times I've gone the margaritas have been mostly ice. This last visit was the worst yet. I'm attaching a photo to show how much ice was left. I'm a very slow eater and didn't finish my margarita until after I finished my food and there was still this much ice. read more

Service was great!!! BUT the food was not. I had a ground beef chimichanga. the meat had No flavor and was so ground and mealy tasted almost like not real meat !!! like something produced in a factory. sorry we stopped and spent our money there. Never again read more

I have no idea why this place received lower ratings, but I eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants and this by far is one of the best I have ever ate at. The service is excellent and the food was outstanding. Not to mention the drinks are top shelf premium and only $8.00, outstanding margaritas. I had the Molcajeta, shrimp, chicken, chorizo and steak and spicy. This is the best dish ever. My hostess was super and so was everyone else. I also had a beef and cheese queso and the spicy salsa dip, which were both great. I will definitely eat here when I come back to Offet AB. Oh, they give you plenty to eat. read more

La Mesa has always been a-ok for me. We've patronized this spot for a LONG time as my parents live practically across the street. Most recently, we opted for some take out. (The way to eat out during this global pandemic.) Ordering online was a breeze. Pickup was a breeze. Packaging was good. And everything in the order was correct. The street tacos are packed with filling and better than expected. And you can never go wrong with queso. But what left George C. raving and raving and raving was the torta he had. So don't overlook those tortas! read more

Not good at all. I dont have one good thing to say about this place. I went there in the afternoon and was served what looked like food but still not sure. My beer was even watered down. Just don't go. don't even bother. read more

We stopped here on Labor Day, the restaurant was short staffed but the owner was there working hard and the staff that was there really hustled. Everything we ordered came out pretty quick considering the staff issue. The food is authentic Mexican fare, fresh and served hot. Delicious homemade salsa. Very disappointed. Food was cold, it had no flavor, and the service was terrible. The tilapia was good.

I ordered the Carne Asada Plate. The servings were generous, the meat was cooked perfectly, and had tons of flavor. I was able to eat and pay within 30 minutes. Such expedient kitchen staff and Ruben, my server, shared with me his excitement for other dishes to try out in the future. I'd eat there again for sure. Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, though it's hard to go off of just one dish, but it is likely among the top in the Midwest. Atmosphere was fun, and finding parking is likely to NEVER be a problem. Rating 5 stars for now because of the awesome staff. Future visits may knock it down to what I would assume is closer to a 4.5 star restaurant based on the quality of the sides. Ruben saved that last star for sure! read more

Everything but the waiter was terrible! I swear they don't know what spices are!!!! Bland/unseasoned refried beans & rice, the chicken was COMPLETELY dried out (also unseasoned and most likely just BOILED) and ate like beef jerky, and the ground beef taco tasted the way canned cat food smells! I'm from Arizona, I KNOW what great and AUTHENTIC Mexican food tastes like, and this was NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! This place made Filiberto's (an AZ drive thru Mexican joint) look like a gourmet place! We will never go back to La Mesa Mexican Restaurant!!!!! read more

Today I visited La Mesa in papillion and had a great experience! The newly renovated art made it a very pleasing environment and the food was just as good. The waitress got our bill wrong but thankfully she fixed it. But she never came to check on us once. Our drinks & chips were never refilled & she never asked how our meal was. I specifically ordered beans to dip chips in & I didn't get to eat them because we never got our chips filled. Disappointing because this used to be our favorite place. read more

Usually quite happy here. Don't go during the holiday season! I ordered fajitas which are usually awesome. Not tonight. The plate wasn't sizzling or seasoned. It was so busy it took about 15 minutes to seat and 50 minutes to get food. My plate wasn't sizzling, refried beans were tepid. Pretty sure they were running low because the serving had less chicken than usual and lots and lots of veggies. As I said above no seasoning either. I felt sorry for the waitress so I didn't take it out on her, not her fault. I usually have it for lunch the next day from my leftovers. I left it all there. read more

I don't know why it's takes us this long to try this place as we moved to the area over a year ago, but I'm glad we finally stopped here for dinner. This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area, and I am probably the pickiest when it comes to Mexican food being from Texas where it's a staple and very hard to find here in the Midwest. We went on a very busy Friday night and were told 20-25 minutes wait time. We were sat in less than 15, so they were moving very quickly! Once sat, we had chips and salsa right away. Our server was very enthusiastic. The food was very delicious. I tried the enchiladas suizas and my boyfriend tried the burrito gigante. We also tried the cheese dip. While I preferred more peppers and spice to my queso, the dip was still tasty and I found myself eating more of it than I expected before the food arrived. The enchiladas I had were the perfect level of spice and the chicken inside was generous. My boyfriend enjoyed his burrito as well. I definitely will be going back now that I know how great this place is! read more

This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in town. The service is excellent and the food is amazing. They have the best queso dip in Omaha, no joke. Be sure to try the Steak Tacos de Carne Asada. Oh and Wednesday is $1.99 Margaritas! read more

Not my fav, but don't completely hate it either. Lots of chips to fill you up before your meal actually arrives. A couple of tips. Ask for the green salsa (it's better than the red salsa). Get the queso dip (I love ALL forms of cheese, so I'm biased - I heart cheese THAT much). The service is always friendly. The decor is really cute (although chairs are more cute than comfortable). If you're looking for authentic Mexican, avoid at all costs. However, if you have folks in your group who like giant portions of Americanized Mexican between $7-12, need a place that can accommodate large groups and are looking for something in the heart of Papillion, La Mesa is a decent choice. I'd like to give it one star (for food), but I'm giving them the second star for occupying a bay in Tara Plaza and bringing some business to the community. Oh yeah...and did I mention the queso dip? read more

Walked and and asked for a table for 4 adults and 2 children. We're told they would set it up. We stood there while three more groups that arrived after us were seated. When we asked why we weren't being seated we were told because our entire party hadn't arrived. If that had been communicated to us when we first walked in it would gave been ok but instead we just walked out.......apparently they didn't want us to order a drink and wait 1 more person. read more
