Love the new renovation! It's really nice and more upscale in here now. We came at a pretty slow time on a Saturday night so we got our order pretty quickly. My taquitos came out just right, but my husband ordered a chicken burrito which came out as a steak burrito. The server fixed it right away, but when we got our bill it had both burritos on there. Ambiance: it's great for a bar! it's a little more like a bar than a sit down restaurant. If you're primarily out to drink, and need a bite, this is a reasonable choice, but if you're looking to primarily eat, and have a drink, it falls a little short of a great place Service: Friendly and casual. Not super speedy, but again, it's a bar first and an eatery second so that's not a big deal. Food: a big "okay". The chicken and pork meat was pretty dry and often chewy. The salsa was really mediocre and basic - definitely not made in house. No one is asking me, but with minimal effort in the food area, this place could improve drastically. But maybe they just want to be a bar that has food and that's ok by me. The big disappoint is that the margs were also basic which was a letdown for a place called "Eat the Worm." (Mind you, during a illegal mandate per our Governor) At the door you have their off duty cop checking ID's which I totally get. However....... He demands you put on a mask to step into the bar. But as soon as your inside you can take it off. SERIOUSLY!!!! WHAT STUPID FUCKING SHIT IS THAT ABOUT?!?!?! The staff had their mask on as a chin strap or not one on at all.. The cop says if you don't have one we can sell you one for $1.50 each. Trying to make money on this stupid shit. And I get it now why their business is dead compared to all the other bars on top of their nasty ass service and food. Sorry, thanks for playing you can keep it. I didn't spend a dime and walked! So add "Eat the Worm" to your list of places to avoid and let them go out of business. My friends ordered & highly disappointed. Even them being drunk they said food was nasty. So bummed about this place. I've always lived downtown so I used to come here often (once a week) but moved out of state for awhile - now that I'm back living DT we decided to come in because they have cheap drinks and good quick food. We went there on Wednesday and were treated SO terribly by the security guard. We were served our food where we were seated in the back, eating for about 5-8 minutes and mid meal the security guard came back and told us we had to move because that area was closed. It wasn't yet 2am, it was about 1:40 - we had our food open and half eaten on the table and we asked if we could just finish our meal quick and then go. We were told absolutely not and we had to move. Trying to tell the security guard that we didn't feel that was fair and he was not treating us how we deserved he ended up cutting us off and saying "LEAVE!" We had just spent $30 on food and tipped, and we were told to leave MID MEAL. I mean, my boyfriend still had half a burrito in his hands, an almost full container of chips and queso, and I had 3/4 of my taquitos uneaten. We complained, and the security guard started taking off his shirt acting like he was going to physically fight my boyfriend... it was painful to watch. We got out of there, and we will NEVER be back. Such a bummer - we used to have such a great time here. I'd much rather spend twice the money somewhere else DT and be treated like an actual customer. This is like a better version of chipotle. It was good food for a rush dinner and I would suggest it if you're a mezcal fan. They have a pretty big selection and are pretty knowledgeable. Never have I been treated the way ETW closes for the night. They close at 2, like most places, no biggie as we got there at 1:40am. I went straight to the food line and ordered food, there was NO warning that it might be ready at closing or after...nor did they say this is take out only orders. We (a group of married couples in our mid-40's) sat at a table to wait for our food, no one ordered drinks and our names were called around 2:05 that the food was ready. We started eating and not 3minutes in, the security guard started YELLING "you gotta go", "get moving", "get out"! We said we just got our food and will eat fast and leave...he said no, then physically MOVED our table, grabbed my friends water bottle and squeezed it spraying water on the floor. While this was happening, the kitchen was STILL calling orders that were ready! He continued to yell and I pointed out another table across from the bar just eating, and able to take their time and I asked why they weren't being harassed or yelled at to leave and he said "that's my brother and he can stay as long as he likes". Ever since I first head about the new occupant to Zio's old space, I've been meaning to try it. And even though I'd heard rave reviews from my friends who close down bars downtown, it really took me a while because this isn't really the kind of place you 'plan on' going to... though I might start. Luckily, this week I was in the area and in need of a quick bite. Little did I know it would also prove to be a very cheap bite! One mahi mahi and one chicken taco to go later, I was only out $5 and it was definitely enough to fill me up for lunch. From the very short (no more than 5 minute) wait I had a brief time to assess my surroundings, and I can say I like what they've done with the old Zio's (though I was pleased to see they kept the floor). I'll definitely head back again sometime when I can have a more leisurely meal, sample my way around the menu, and try some of their extensive tequila selection (which definitely rivals my other favorite, Rivera's). The small corn tortillas, interplay of citrus, savory and spicy is worth a stop if you're in the Old Market in need of a casual meal. read more

Why I never came here when I actually lived in Omaha, I'll never know. I finally managed to make it in here on a recent trip. Even though it was 11:00 PM, the kitchen was still serving food. There is a huge selection of vegetarian dishes on Eat the Worm's menu. Who knew!? I ended up getting a veggie burrito. It was delicious! Add to it some chips and salsa and a can of PBR and it makes for a great night. The servers here were fast and friendly as well. This has the makings to be a great place, but I should've listened to the reviews. I thought since I came early in the day the service would be better... I was clearly wrong. There's one guy making drinks and one guy cooking. The bartender/waiter/busboy is great and nice and my drink is awesome, however I had to flag the poor busy guy down to get a menu and again to order, which you have to go to the bar to do. No ones coming to your table, trust me. My nachos were cold so I sent them back... The cook had an attitude. They came back room temperature. I'm trying to inhale them before they're cold again. Let's be real here. Previously, I have actively avoided Eat The Worm due to the usual late night rowdy crowd. However, I went here for the first time on a Monday night after an evening of drinking, when they're not terribly busy, and not only did we get excellent (real) service, our food was on point. I was immediately converted. Now, here we are on a Saturday night, place is crowded, balls to ass, and we still received exceptional service, a quick beer while we awaited our to go order of nachos, and we ended up leaving without one of our wallets. Coming back ten minutes later, the same gentleman who took our initial order recognized us, knew exactly where our missing wallet was, didn't skip a beat, and continued to give a positive service experience to the other hungry/thirsry patrons. Thank you Zack and the rest of the Eat The Worm crew for providing a stand out, exemplary experience from the beginning to the end. I've always thought about stopping in this place when in the Old Market, but never had until one night it was the only food option available at the time. We ordered empanadas and the "trio". Now to preface, the menu reads like this: 1. salsa 2. guacamole, 3. queso 4. trio!
