We accidentally stayed past closing time and no one mentioned it to us until we noticed. This shows how friendly these people are. He's not the biggest fan of "fine dining" but knows I've adored my experiences at Noma, Per Se, Eleven Madison Park, etc. so went above and beyond to secure this booking for us. The food was five stars. I was especially blown away by their chicken course in the tasting menu. I typically avoid ordering poultry while dining out (I cook A LOT of chicken at home lol) but this was the best take on chicken I've ever had. It was incredibly flavorful and unique. The service left a lot to be desired. In my experience, even when dining at a one-Michelin star spot such as Gramercy Tavern, I feel special and taken care of. This was not the case here. There wasn't a wine pairing offered with the tasting menu, so we asked the sommelier about getting wines by the glass to match the courses. He promptly told us that wasn't necessary and that red wine was fine for the entire meal. We obliged and followed his recommendation for an (admittedly tasty) bottle of red. While we enjoyed it, we didn't really care for having red wine during our vegetable and fish courses. We also noticed almost every other table enjoying an assortment of wines with each of their courses which confused us. Again... I don't want to lose sight that this meal was GOOD.
