Wandering through the streets of Dijon, there are so many options to choose from. This was relatively random, but a fixed lunch menu at s reasonable price with bœf Bourguignonne called out to me. Under 30 euros with a glass of wine, it was s delicious foray into area specialties.
Started with the house ham and parsley terrine. What s unique dish compared to the slab of ham served in the US. Seasoned well with the parsley breaking through the salt and fat from the ham. Not overbearing. A little Dijon mayo or butter sauce served with a lightly dressed green salad. Great start!
The came the star....the bœf Bourguignonne. Sigh. Clearly braised for an extraordinary amount of time. The first time I can say I understood what unctuous meant. Served in s little cast iron Staub, I was so glad for crusty bread to sop up the deliciousness.
Lastly, poached pears and sorbet. Why don't I poach pears more??? Light and delicious and s good shot of fiber in a cheese laden vacation.
