La Maison is a little antique shop right off Poplar. Though I do not like this type of antique store (think totally rehabbed and pretty antique items) I will be the first to say they do it well. The way in which they went about rehabbing all these items is probably exactly how I would have had I purchased them and done it myself. That's my only problem. I want to do it myself- that's the fun in it!! I also much prefer the prices of the do it yourself antiques. I don't want to pay you to rehab my antique finds. It simply defeats the purpose. La Maison has some seriously cute furniture, mirrors and jewelry. I spied quite a few items I'd love to have, but Seeing as how I will not be spending $10,000 on a vintage chest anytime in the near future, I probably won't be back to this little place till I win the lottery.

La Maison offers beautiful antiques, draperies, furniture, decorative pillows, paintings and more to impress a variety of tastes and individual needs. A hit with designers, La Maison dealers assist customers in finding the right combinations of styles and colors to fit their decor. Choose from great accent pieces, lamps, wingback chairs, and gorgeous wallcoverings. The Drapery Lady is also onsite providing silky, rich, beautiful fabrics, and available for consultations. Certainly a designer's paradise, La Maison also offers smaller pieces for those shoppers that are simply on the hunt for a beautiful decorative item or wall hanging to complete their home.

My visit to this store is exhibit A of why big retail stores are dead or dying…read more I don't know what kind of hood operation this is but it's hilarious, shut this location down, they aren't even trying with this one. Unfortunately I had to use the restroom, it was DISGUSTING, I had to stand in another persons pee puddle under the urinal to use the bathroom. The smell of urine was clear out to the water fountains. The bathrooms and bathroom access looked like the entrance to a crack house. See pics. Inside the store, aisles were wrecked, product thrown everywhere. I was potentially interested in buying a rug but there were no prices on the items, searched vigorously and couldn't find. What a crazy experience, there's absolutely nothing I couldn't have purchased from Amazon and had on my porch next day from this store. What kind of psychopath searches through a nasty store like this, stands in line and pays double for the same Chinese items. I took note of the rug I liked, found on Amazon for half price and had it at my house next day.

I am sure they will straighten it up and get it back to looking good. Hopefully this will happen soon because now you can't hardly find anything because it's scattered everywhere in the store. There were three areas of outdoor lights and they are usually all together. The patio decor was scattered all around the store. Most of everything was in many places and hard to find.

It's been open for almost three years. The storefront is rather small, but it's packed with color - there's furniture, lovely glass vases, handmade books, adorable toys, and reclaimed estate jewelry. The shop owner, Selena McAdams, is an interior designer, and all of the items inside Spruce have clearly been selected with great care and attention. I hesitate to call Spruce an interior design store, because it's much more than that. On my visit, I was totally taken with their selection of adorable and unconventional stuffed animals. I picked up a sea foam green latticework pendant necklace. It reminds me a bit of a lawn chair. So, a big thank you to the person who suggested that I check out Spruce. I'll definitely be stopping in again.

Personally, I found it to be three stars due to being a bit overpriced. A throw pillow filled with goose down, while beautiful and on my 'want' list, will remain on my 'want' list at over $200. Don't get me wrong, the place is worth a look -- and if money is no object, you'll find some pretties. They also carry pretty anthropologie-esque accessories, such as necklaces, bracelets, and a very sharp silver wristlet -- soft leather -- for $50. That wasn't so bad and I almost snatched it up. Other brands spotted were Terra Provence and Tatine candles, as well as Herve Gambs.

I have seen art, old junk, Memphis stuff, tshirts, converted old stereo systems, and just some of the most random stuff ever. We have made several purchases from one particular artist. His name is Kenny Hays. I'm going to attach a pic of his card to my review. Really cool sculptures with tons of creativity and super value priced for badass art like his. Completely worth a stop and browse around the place. You are absolutely going to at least find something to make you chuckle. If you don't have a sense of humor, you may not though. So... if you can handle, "thanks for having a big dick coasters", you should be good. I find it all quite amusing. The gentleman that owns the place is very nice and accommodating as well is all of the staff. You can get some great Memphis art and check out some cool trinkets as well. Love it!!
