There was a lot going on in town, which was shocking but we also came out of the park earlier than we normally do, but amazing enough Casa Mendoza wasn't very busy and we got seated immediately, and we just had the best server that we've ever had there, she was so polite and friendly and crazy efficient with our orders and getting them back to us asap. I didn't wanna fill up on beans and rice so I just went with an à la carte of three crispy tacos, and a tamale. I told her to put them all on one plate when they came out looking like the best à la carte plate I've ever seen; almost as if it was a menu item unto itself. Everything just had so much flavor, and the tamale is definitely in the top two of best tamales I've ever had. We will continue to come here after our Sequoia adventures for hopefully many more years to come

The chips were lightly seasoned and the salsa was flavorful. The kids had a good amount of options for food which is nice, other restaurants maybe have 3 or 4. The adult portions were huge! I had the carne and shrimp burrito and the shrimp were big. I didn't know they made burritos that big anymore. We definitely would like to come back next time we're in town

    - River View Grill & Bar (Three Rivers)…read more My girlfriend and I recently went back to River View Grill & Bar in Three Rivers after not visiting for quite a while. I hadn't been there in at least five years, and it had been over a year since my girlfriend last visited. Unfortunately, this experience was noticeably worse than what we remembered. The location itself is still beautiful, and the river view is definitely the main attraction. That part hasn't changed. But the food quality, consistency, and cleanliness left a lot to be desired this time around. To start with drinks, my girlfriend ordered a Whiskey Sour, both of which she enjoyed. I ordered the spicy Bloody Mary, which was honestly disappointing. It tasted watered down, bland, and not spicy at all. It did come with a generous garnish including bacon, celery, and cucumber, which was nice, but the drink itself lacked flavor. For appetizers, we ordered boneless wings with ranch. Our actual waiter, Juan, was excellent throughout the meal. He was friendly, attentive when he could be, and clearly working hard. Unfortunately, most of the issues came from the food runner/expo staff rather than him. When the appetizer plates and utensils were brought out, the top plate was visibly dirty with leftover sauce and crumbs still on it, even though it appeared to have gone through the dishwasher. The napkin wrapped around the utensils also had sauce smeared on it, and one of the forks had crusted residue stuck to it. I had to wait over 10 minutes before I could flag someone down to replace everything. That alone was honestly a major concern because cleanliness and sanitation should never be questionable in a restaurant. For entrées, my girlfriend ordered the fish and chips with curly fries and said her food was good overall. I ordered the "famous" open-faced chili burger with curly fries. The burger itself was cooked correctly, but the chili was surprisingly bland and lacked the depth of flavor you would expect from something highlighted so heavily on the menu. On top of that, my plate initially came out with regular fries instead of curly fries. At that point, I honestly wasn't even planning to mention it because the experience had already gone downhill. But when Juan came by, he immediately noticed the mistake himself and went to correct it without me even asking. That reinforced my impression that the issues were not really coming from him personally. Unfortunately, when the replacement curly fries came out, they looked like scraps from the bottom of the fryer basket. Many were tiny, overcooked pieces and noticeably worse quality than the fries my girlfriend had received earlier. Overall, the experience just felt sloppy and inconsistent. Between the bland Bloody Mary, dirty dishes and utensils, incorrect food, low-quality replacement fries, and general lack of attention to detail from parts of the staff, it really changed my impression of the restaurant. The river view is still nice, but there are plenty of other places in Three Rivers where you can enjoy the scenery while also having a better dining experience. Sadly, this visit did not leave a good impression, and I'm not sure I would return.

But there was something we had not considered, we were going to be going to a place that required us to be fresh and ready to receive the wonder of place by a lack and we only had the energy for an angry stop at a gas station. So this place I visited when I was tired and that kind of gunked up the experience. If I would have gone with more energy to fully open my eyes than this experience would have been wondrous. When I booked the reservation I did it because it was a place by a lake. I enjoy water front dining and I usually use an ocean for scenery and today I was in a place where I could use a large creek. And since I was not going with any specific expectations that lake hit me like a bucket of wow. I remember like seeing the mouth of the lake going down like actual rocks. Like I was seeing the waters that people raft on with commitment to the outdoors. It felt like I had traveled into a place where trees were purest, bird melodies were the only noise in town (besides the water running in the creek), and cabins belonged to those who called the mountains home. I was in a novel and for some reason I felt like it was written by Twain. And that is really what I can say about this place. That is mostly what I remember the beauty of the creek. I wanted to spend more time there, I could have walked it, they had like a lounge but I did not. But I do remember the forested view that went on, and the roaring, jagged leg being a central character other than that I have small things to say. I remember the salad being ok. Denise and I shared a dish, I can't remember why but we did not eat the whole thing. It was inherently bad. But this could have been an off night, or just not the dish of the place, and really you go here for the lake, and the food was great in some ways just not in this specific way. I went to this place a few weeks ago, and, if I had not make it clear I remember the experience of being with the lake. So go here for that experience and let the rest just fall into place.

You could tell they were made fresh, and whomever is the cook, knows how to season well. Service was on point and super attentive. They checked on me at least 4 times to make sure everything was good, which honestly made the whole experience even better. It's rare to see that kind of consistency in small local spots. The only thing I felt was missing was a more savory salsa to match those tacos. The one they gave me seemed like a salsa de chile de árbol -- spicy with good flavor, but I wished I had an extra salsa option that leaned more on the smoky or tangy side to balance out the richness of the gobernador. The place was quiet, comfortable, and relaxed -- no loud music or chaos, just a good spot to sit back and enjoy your food. Definitely worth a visit again. Next time, I might ask if they have any different salsas to try with those tacos.

Some of the best reviews were many years ago. I ordered the chile verde burrito, wet, and my girlfriend ordered the fish taco Friday special. Chile verde has different sized pork chunks in a delicious green sauce but the meat was inconsistent in size with most pieces being rock hard, or fat/gristle. No pieces were tender. Chile verde should be tender. I can make better Chile verde in an Instant Pot with pork shoulder and a jar of Herdez green salsa. I trim my meat well though. No surprises. The fish tacos were attractive. They resembled fish sticks though. They had a bread crumb coating, were cooked earlier, and reheated before putting in the taco shell. Not beer batter fried aka Baja style. The taco shells were soft yellow corn tortillas with the texture of flour tortillas. These tortillas were really good! Avocado and fresh cilantro was a nice touch. No special fish taco sauce was used, but might improve the fish sticks. Rice was a solid hit for both of us. We make it like this at home with shrimp/tomato bouillon. The beans were ok. I ended up "returning" the inedible chile verde and they dutifully replaced it with a different burrito. The service was 5/5. The place itself is clean and neat and spacious. No complaints there.

They have introduced additional entertainment options for children and expanded the menu with TV screens displaying the menu and a more contemporary design. (Negatives) The cashier station is frequently unattended, and even when it is staffed, customers often experience poor service due to the lack of respect and attention provided by the cashier. If customers request condiments such as ketchup, they must approach the front, which is barebones and lacks essential amenities. The atmosphere remains unchanged, and if customers make an error in their orders, they are refused service and instructed to repeat the order, which incurs additional charges. Furthermore, there is a noticeable lack of cleanliness, evidenced by sticky floors and a dead fly on one of the tables. The sodas taste watered down, and attempting to request a refill is met with a disapproving look from the staff. Conclusion: Super Taco retains its reputation as a popular establishment, but the quality of food is not the only factor that contributes to the overall experience. The lack of respect and the sense of uncleanliness are significant concerns that should be addressed to provide a more satisfactory dining experience.
