Lasagna

Awesome food truck experience in Playa Vista. I reviewed this a year ago, and just wanted to double down on that great experience. The people who run the truck are delightful. This truck pops up on random Fridays, and we happened to catch it after school, grabbed some food and headed to the park with the kids. Such a fun little outing. Lasagna might seem like a heavy park meal, but honestly, it worked out great. It doesn't look super glamorous in a to-go container, but don't let that fool you...it was delicious. We also got some cannolis, which my kid devoured before I could even snap a pic. Whenever we see the red truck, it's an automatic dinner option for us.

Lobster ravioli dinner. I remembered to take the picture after I ate half lol.

My apartment complex had La La Lasagna parked by our office for our weekly food truck night and let me tell you, I'm so glad I was able to be home for this one!!! I got the lobster ravioli and it's AMAZING!!! There's a secret menu too, that you can order from 12 hours in advance. If you see this truck definitely try it!

First time trying! I got the original lasagna, it was green noodle and had a certain flavor to it I can't put my finger on. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. The side salad it came with was delicious and the little baguette was soft! The gentleman serving me was very nice with a big smile on his face. Nice clean food truck from what I saw

The food truck came to our apartment complex and might I say - from the first hello to the end of our last bite, it was an amazing experience. They have vegan and vegetarian options! The food is delicious. It's pretty classy and very good cousin considering it's from a food truck. The owner was a very pleasant person and his service and conversation were amazing. I highly recommend!

Food truck Thursday at playa vista was a big hit when LaLaLasagna rolled into town today! Loved the vegan and the butternut squash raviolis. The side salad and the veggies were awesome too! Friendly service and great food!

Michelangelo and LA LA Lasagna are here to teach us what Italian food is really supposed to taste like. This isn't your mom's lasagna! You wont need to curl into a ball and fall asleep after either. So flavorful and so light and perfectly filling. What an excellent treat and explosion of flavors. The traditional lasagna is epic and the mushroom lasagna is pure joy. Amazing meal tonight at La La Lasagna. We will definitely be back for more. PSA: don't skip dessert!

We started off in the bar area before moving outside, and both spaces had their own charm. The design was definitely one of my favorite things about this place! As for the food, we tried three different pastas, including their signature pasta for the day. I wish I could remember the name because when I tell you that pasta was AMAZING! So creamy, full of flavor, and seasoned perfectly. I'm still thinking about it, and my biggest regret is not ordering another one to go lol. Our waiter was great as well! Very welcoming and attentive throughout the evening. Overall, experience was 10/10. The food was delicious, but the design and atmosphere are what really stood out to me. Definitely a place I'd visit again!

It was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh and in combination with the lemongrass, made for a delightful bite. The pasta dish was also a favorite of mine but unfortunately, the most disappointing dish by far was the grilled Bronzino. It lacked flavor and the size of the fish was much smaller than I'm accustomed to having. Without question, the restaurant definitely missed the mark on this dish. The restaurant was beautifully designed and the decor looked amazing. My server was attentive and made sure my water glass remained filled throughout my entire meal. However, something I did find a bit strange was when presented with the check the dishes were unreadable but the prices weren't. I was told a new printer was ordered a week ago but had not yet arrived. I found this a bit odd for an establishment of this caliber not to have a working printer.

For all of us it was our first time at Bestia, they picked the restaurant and glad to say it was a great pick! Everyone enjoyed our time here together for the first time. The experience was amazing from the welcoming of our waitress and the detailed menu descriptions she gave to fun fact about the name of the restaurant! The restaurant was well lit and sounded like everyone was having a great time, laughing and catching up with one another! As well as the staff helping each other out and making sure everyone was satisfied! Angelica, our waitress, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, as well as the rest of the staff! She helped us pick our entrees and appetizers as well. Angelica made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal from making sure our drinks were refilled or bringing another round of drinks, to bringing clean plates for every entree we received! The bone marrow and branzino was definitely a 100/10, my brother who hates fish actually tried it and loved it! The bone marrow left everyone at the table speechless! Thank you to everyone at Bestia, especially our waitress, Angelica, for a wonderful dinner!

The bone marrow, mussels and clams, chicken liver, branzino and any pasta are the best although the pizza is great too, the best is to end the meal with a chocolate Bundino. My only criticism as of recently has been the wine staff, the last few times I have mentioned that I personally don't like the taste of natural wine and have asked for recommendations to suit my taste the sommelier actually said " so you like to drink chemicals then " , I didn't let it ruin my evening and the food was still excellent but their really isn't a place for that attitude. I am an avid wine collector and as the customer it's the wine staffs job to make the customer happy by finding a bottle they will like, not push their misinformed opinions on the customers. Management would be served well with some re-education in the art of customer service to the wine team.

They focus on Japanese Italian fusion pastas and are a good option if you want to try Japanese foods in the area besides sushi or ramen. My absolute favorite dish of theirs is the Mentai Cream Pasta, so much so that I can't fully enjoy any other Mentai Cream Pasta anywhere else because I would just wish I'm having the one from here! It's so creamy and rich without being too heavy. The mentai savory without tasting too fishy either. The cream is perfect and not too watery at all. Rarely, wheb I want to change it up, I'll order the Uni Pasta. Their uni has a really "melts in your mouth" kind of quality and has a really distinct flavor without it being overpowering. I have yet to try any other dish since I already have my two favorites, but each dish comes with fresh bread and a side salad to start. Maybe one day I'll venture to other things on their menu but for now, I'll stick to my faves. Their service is quite quick and they are very friendly. The vibe is laid back yet perfect for a date night, I'd argue even for a first date. Relax yet intimate. Also, I love how theres bag hooks under the tables at the counter seating! Parking is ample in the plaza but since it is walking distance from the Little Tokyo Village if you were to park anywhere there it would be fine to walk to. Their hours aren't like a regular restaurant. They are closed on Mondays, open first at 11:30am-2pm and usually open again at 5pm for dinner time so plan accordingly. No detail is overlooked. Beautiful design -- reminds me of what your Italian grandma's dining room would look like if she had great taste. We took a Lyft since the parking situation is tough (but there is a paid lot down the street) and we were running late.I called and left message that we were running 15 minutes late and they got my voicemail and they were great about. Table was available right away. Cocktails were impressive - and we started with a dirty martini and a Negroni blanco. The garlic bread made with Bub & Grandma's bread is a clear winner. Our server Emerson was top notch and steered us through the menu and drinks and was informative and friendly as very professional. When he'd walk through dining room, he was scanning to see if anyone was trying to catch his eye. And when I did he came right over. None of this look straight ahead stuff I sometimes see when it's a busy night. You can get out of Donna's for a reasonable price if you stick to garlic bread, salad and one of their excellent pasta dishes (5 of the dishes are in the $25-$28 range). We splurged and got the scampi (from France) what a sauce, truffle gnocchi, amazing chicken Marsala with amazing mushroom sauce $32) and the Cesar salad was delicious and not mailed in. We ordered 1 dessert (panna cotta with pistachio brittle and fresh figs) and they brought a tiramisu and tiny glasses of their own limoncello out on the house. We also tried 1 glass of their special vermouth since we are vermouth lovers. A++++ experience all round and it was a high level of ingredients and food -- chef and his team are top notch. I now need to find out who's the chef in that kitchen because they've built an excellent team. Donna's slyly calls itself just a "red sauce Italian restaurant" but I'd say that's a real understatement...and I think it's a great date night or small group place because it's intimate and you can hear your table partners talk. I don't recall any music playing - just the warm brown background noise of fun conversation. We ate early (my preference these days) and if you don't see any openings for reservations, ask Resy to give you an alert -- you'll get notified when reservations open up. Emerson said they always hold some tables for walk ins. PS -- I normally don't leave such long reviews, but I have some friends who are chefs and who own restaurants - and when I see other Yelp reviews where someone leaves a one star because the hostess was allegedly rude when everything else is great -- I just hate to see how it can affect a restaurant. I have no relationship with this restaurant at all. I don't know any anyone who works in it or owns any part of it, but I just don't like to see people abuse the reviews -- the restaurant business is tough as it is. And as someone who has worked downtown and driven through Echo Park for 30 years - I think Donna's is a great addition to Echo Park.

I would say the food is about a 6/10 but the service is a 10/10. The food is a bit too salty and it…read moreseemed like a common note across multiple neighboring tables. The highlight was definitely the Fusili ala vodka pasta, though we asked for well-cooked rather than al dente and it was still pretty al dente. There is ample street parking in and around the place but it is in a bit of a sketchy area, so be careful. The garlic bread is made of sourdough and it comes with a lot of cheese, which makes it even more sour. The tomato risotto is a 4/10 - it just tasted like cheese and the broccolini is a 6/10 - its pretty unflavorful and uncooked. We ended the night with a shot of limoncello and that was the perfect palette cleanser.
