Interesting to see the brewery in the back of the restaurant. Server was very friendly and did not mind that we were just snacking here. This was one of the few places open during the beginning of the week and for lunch as well. Ordered french fries- sans poutine fixings and one of the lagers. Came here late afternoon/early evening and this place was packed !! Apparently they host a radio show every week and there are also other events that are often hosted in the other half of the restaurant...so plan accordingly! I ordered the infamous chipotle lime wings and the fish and chips w/spicy mayo and ketchup . As other reviews highlighted...it was the best fish and chips I ever had and the wings are as good as they look in pictures . They were extremely tasty especially with the aioli they give you . I also ordered a flight of beer which included a fruity four and a beer made with crickets which probably was my favorite ale of the evening ! Enjoyed a nice snack here today after walking miles. It was nice to be in a less touristy area where it was more quiet. I enjoyed a glass of rose, the croquet is which are basically chicken nuggets with some cheese. The pickled vegetables were different and very good. The spicy Mayo dip was delicious. Really sluggish, uneven and inattentive service means no return visits and a recommendation to skip La Korrigane. I understand staff shortages, new employees, but we watched as parties seated after us were served before us. Drinks sat empty, they were watery to begin anyway, saddest sangria I've had in QC. It was a good 45 minutes (the looped music started repeating) before we could catch our server's attention to request more drinks and order food. We were considering bailing when our server finally came over. He said, "oh, I thought you weren't ordering food." Based on what? Your zero interaction with us since you dropped off the drinks? Way to ASSume your way out of more money and a decent tip, pal. Food was average to low average for the area, fish n chips were nothing spectacular. We wasted 1.5h on a Saturday night at this place. The outdoor seating has an odour of old grease, must be close to a kitchen vent or waste storage area on the side closest to the old post office. Other than that the patio is a pleasant venue. This was our first place to grab a bite while waiting to check into our hotel (that I wrote a bad review for due to service). We came here b/c we wanted a "quick" bite but if we knew our room would have taken a bit longer to check in, then maybe we wouldn't have found this place. I ordered the chimi poutine and something was off about the dish. It was bad but it wasn't great either. I barely made a dent in it and just picked at the fries and the chimichurri sauce. My bf and son's buddy ordered fish N chips with curry mayo on the side for the fries. The curry mayo was BOMB! The fish N Chips batter was lightly battered and crunchy -- scrumptious! It didn't come in a whole big piece like they do it here in New England. Instead, they were a few medium pieces but still filling. My other son ordered a burger which he devoured. If it wasn't good, there would be leftovers. They seating inside and outside patio--which we chose the patio. The seats were a bit small for my butt so maybe we should have sat inside where there's bench seating. (or maybe I should just lose weight on my butt). We loved our experience here! We visited Saturday 02/24/2024. The bartender working was attentive, kind and made great recommendations. He was there when we needed him, but not overbearing. It was probably our favorite food that we ate during our visit to QC. We ordered the kimchi quail eggs and the Korrigane's platter (despite being a little wary of the fish items). We loved both! It made for a nice snacking lunch that left us satisfied, but not too stuffed. We also really enjoyed our beers - particularly Pimbina! Such a nice refreshing sour beer. OMG and the beer donut! It was so good, I'm still thinking about it almost a week later. I wish we had grabbed two instead of one to share. We both agreed that if we had been staying in QC for longer, we definitely would have returned to try more beers and food. Don't hesitate to visit! read more

They took the time to explain everything we needed to know about it the house brewed beers on tap and let us try some before committing. We got a salad and it was delicious along with the poutine. My impression was that the place is a popular after work spot for younger professionals in the area. Many groups of 30 somethings and it had a fun vibe. Came in around 5:30 and was seated immediately. Our server was quite knowledgeable about their beer offerings and the menu has suggestions on beer pairings with your meal. Will definitely be back for the Kraken IPA. The place has a lot of seating at tables and at the bar and even has a couch with table. La Korrigane has a menu in English as well from what I recall. Poutine was tasty, different from what you would get at La Banquise in Montreal, wish it had more gravy. Mac and Cheese was alright as well, nothing to write home about. Happened to walk into this place because the ramen shop down the street was closed for the week. We did not have high expectations but the beers were brewed on sight and excellent. The food we ordered were simple - fish and chips and burgers. OMG. The burgers were outstanding! My sons and my wife all agreed that these were the best. It's hard to pinpoint why these were so tasty. The burgers were not overly stuffed with layers or piled with fancy sides to make them enormous like a lot of the "gourmet burger" places. These were actually simple and just the right size so that an average person can comfortably eat them. The buns were excellent and the patty was seasoned. Otherwise, not sure what the secret sauce is, but don't care. We will be back the next time we are in Quebec. read more

We were in Quebec for the weekend. Busy day walking around and wanted something close by. I remembered walking by this place and we thought we would give it a try. The menu is limited, but I felt the quality was high. Excellent fare for a brewery. We split 2 flights of beer between 4 people. We had the guacamole and chips for an appetizer. The guacamole was not the same as in the US, but it was very good. Rich and creamy with a lot of flavor. My sister- and brother-in-law both ordered the fish and chips. She said that it was the best she had in a long time and we're from New England. I tried it and it was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and juicy and flaky on the inside. My niece ordered the mac and cheese and she really liked it. They put cheese curds in it to make it extra cheesy. I had beef chili, which was tasty and not very spicy. It came with toasted artisan bread. We opted for dessert. They have limited options and we chose the chocolate cake. It was dense, nice dark chocolate flavor and not super sweet. We came to Quebec City on a last minute whim. Because we brought our toy Maltese, we were concerned about being limited in our dining options. We saw a cute microbrewery on the way in and when we asked our hotel valet if it was any good, he suggested this place, la Korrigane. The front desk was kind enough to call and confirm our dog would be ok. We arrived for lunch a little early and we were a little concerned that no one was there but it turned out that we came in from the rear entrance that opens to their parking lot (duh) but that was where their little outdoor seating was. We went inside and there was a small bar on one side and on the other side, someone attending to a large brewing canister - I guess they really do make beer there! Turns out after you go in, make a turn and go through a small hallway, you enter another bigger area with another bar and more seating. The place is quite a charming neighborhood watering hole. In one corner, they had a pair of sofas instead of tables and chairs. The waiter was super friendly and even gave us a little sample of their beers when we couldn't decide. We ended up getting a flight to sample their offerings and things we probably wouldn't have tried on our own. Oh, and surprisingly, they were cool with our little pup who was being carried in my wife's large tote - I appreciated how common sense they were about this in general in Quebec. Ok, now the food. We got olives for appetizer, poutine (of course), chili, and fish and chips (I know, not French). Everything was very good. If anything, the waiter kind of talked us out of their special poutine for their classic one - it was really well made but we aren't exactly poutine newbies so I feel like I missed out just a bit. The chili came with bread that was crusty on the outside, and slightly toasted but cherry on the inside -perfect for dunking into the chili, which was tasty if not a little standard. This was an off the beaten path spot right off the corner of Saint Joseph street in Quebec. There were more locals in the restaurant than tourists (a plus in my opinion). The wait staff was friendly. I tried their version of the traditional poutine and it was one of the better traditional versions in Quebec; they did not skimp on the cheese curds or gravy and it had green onions on top (#bonus). Their drinks were mediocre though; a friend ordered a cider and it was flat, and another friend ordered a gin and tonic and while the tonic came to the table separate from the drink and in its own sealed glass bottle, it was also flat. We started with a pair of flights and ran into dinner. I can say the angus burger was very good and perfectly sauced and seasoned. The cheese plate was a great blend and worth ordering. The cheesecake was excellent and we also ordered a beer donut. All the food was great and worth the stop. We liked almost all the beer we had, and respected those that didn't hit our palate well. I really wish a bar like this existed in Oakland or SF. Quiet dark wood, spacious patio with twinkly lights and candles, and an ample selection of brews. The cream ale was definitely my favorite since it somehow had an intense jasmine tea aftertaste, not that the IPA wasn't awesome either (just not as hoppy as American ones, but I suppose we're known for throwing in handfuls of herb). My husband really wanted to try some local beers and we ended up here. The beer was average, the service not great, and our food was cold. They have a nice outdoor patio which was great to enjoy the surprisingly warm weather. The atmosphere was really the best part, it is very charming. The beer was nothing special. They brew it themselves which is nice but nothing was fantastic. Our server seemed pretty annoyed by us, my husband and I speak school level French and try hard not to be obnoxious American tourists but she wasn't having any of it. I should note that this is more in a residential neighborhood than in a tourist section and we were the only people (that I could see) not speaking French. She did speak good English so there wasn't a language barrier of any sort but she literally rolled her eyes when I said bonjour and couldn't be bothered to answer any question we had about the beer. Other reviews mentioned this place was not English friendly while other disagreed entirely. I think it probably rests on this individual server. The rest of the staff was not like this. I didn't have an experience like this with any other local during our entire trip to Quebec City, she just was not a pleasant individual. I had the mac and cheese and my husband had a burger. The mac and cheese was cold, not room temperature but actually cold. My husband's burger was also cold. We didn't dare say anything since our interactions with our server were so tense. We took a cab from The Chateau F. The place has a welcoming interior and we were seated immediately. The beer is brewed on site and pretty well covers all types. We came twice in our trip to Quebec. First time was just for beer. A flight of five 7oz beers for $13.50. Great deal. Quality of the beer is very high for a hole in the wall spot. We loved the sour beer (cassis), kraken black IPA, and I loved the double IPA, but all of their brews were above average. We had the pickled quail eggs and nachos con carne to snack on. Korrigane is one of the biggest and rowdiest breweries in QC, and makes a pretty good beer. It's more of a beer hall style feel than most of the other brew pubs in the city. There's a large communal room with big tables, as well as a big bar in the front. There's even a stage where they do improv several nights a week. Not speaking French, the improv was lost on me, though I did enjoy the Belgian style ale brewed on premises. Service was friendly as well and very attentive. The beer was a strong contender for best Belgian style ale in a city with tons of Belgian style beers. You can find their beer across the city as well. read more
