Had a peach and pepper tea (can't remember the name) that was lovely, if pricey (€5 for a pot, would've been cheaper if I'd ordered more). If I could, this would be a 4.5 star review, so I'm rounding up. Staff was friendly and pleasant, left me alone after ordering, and was kind and courteous to all of the customers. The lady seemed shocked when I asked her what was her favorite tea, as if no one ever bothered with her opinion. (Not a flavored gal, with a preference for greens). I've only been here once so far, yet I long to return, especially on a beautiful day where I need a reprieve from life, and just want some me time.

The tea shop appears to be family owned and both the wife and husband were extremely kind and helpful. The wife helped us pick tea, speaking a little English, and was very encouraging towards our own attempts at French. In addition to buying tea to go, we also had a cup on the spot. The tea was great and the environment was warm and relaxing, with jazz music playing in the background. Lastly, the store has a nice selection of different Belgian sweets (chocolate, cookies, etc.) from other businesses if tea is, well, not your cup of tea. Overall, this tea house is an amazing gem nestled in a rather busy and occasionally touristy area that should not be missed.

Nothing was disgusting, but nothing was particularly good either. My major complaint is the hygiene. The buffet is set up on tables where you have to reach over some dishes to get to others. This means people's clothes and hair were dangling over the communal dishes. And there were some people sneezing, which obviously could infect everyone. If you do want to go, I would highly recommending going at the very start of brunch and making sure you're the first in line. On top of that, there were three dogs that appeared to live in the restaurant. I love dogs, and they were cute, but they sat in the customers' chairs and walked across the tables. This is totally unacceptable for a food service establishment. I won't be back, except maybe to buy some plants.

I even got leftover cake from the afternoon brunch on the cheap, as in like, for free. Tchaikovsky was playing on the radio and the dogs were running around. Oh right, THERE ARE TWO SHIBA INUS (well I think they're shiba inus.) They're adorable. Alas, my living room is not my own, it isn't private and I'm probably not a grown up yet. But I can find comfort in knowing that TLGS is a quick 10 minute bus ride away. And that I can always sit on that couch, open up a book with one hand, hold a cuppa tea with the other and pretend I'm right at home. Which I totally am.

I talked to the son/manager for a while, and he informed me that it's one of the few places that still uses traditional techniques, and it really shows. I had a coffee and a classis pasteis de nata. The custard was so good that I ended up buying six more pastries to take home and share with friends. All of them were excellent, with a really perfect texture and balanced flavor, not too too sweet. It's hard to pick a favorite among the flavors of pasteis de nata, because they were all so good and so different. I'll definitely be back.

My friend went with the Simply, topped with cinnamon crumbles and a scoop of ice cream. What impressed me the most was the texture. Every bite was the perfect combination of warm waffle, rich chocolate, and cold ice cream. Even until the very last bite, the waffle stayed light and crispy without becoming soggy. That's not something you find very often, and it made the experience even more memorable. Yum! :p

The two tenants are also very friendly and helpful, and you can always check out their suppliers' catalogues and tell them what you'd like to see in their next shipment; they're open to their customers' advice and feedback. "Merely" four stars though, because I'm really (really) sad it's not bigger. :)

After walking around the main square, we went down a quaint little side street and stumbled upon this unassuming sandwich shop. The owner greeted us out front and told us he wanted to make us the best sandwich we've ever tasted. He said if we didn't like the sandwich, it would be free. We decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad we did. Not only is the owner one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, but his sandwiches are absolutely delicious! I can't even tell you what was in them, but they were incredible. Now every time we're in Brussels, we'll be stopping by Tonton Garby for a friendly visit, and a delicious sandwich.

They looked very good but I know I wouldn't enjoy it if I just ordered off the menu. He puts a ton of fruits and cheeses into your sandwich and asks a bunch of questions of what you like before putting it together. I went for a blue cheddar cheese and since I wasn't getting anything else, he cut a gigantic chunk for my sandwich. The only downside is I think the only meat he uses is small salami slices. He put in triple the amount he usually puts but the cheese still took over the whole sandwich (I ended up buying more meat from the grocery store to fill it up). Every sandwich he makes is the same price and comes with a drink. I wanna say that his normal sandwiches are probably amazing. Mine was okay after I added all the meat into it. I also didn't eat it right away. But I think the customer service itself should receive 5 stars.
