What a gem in Dublin. You know I like to find good food wherever I am. La Joya's customer service and food was excellent. As soon as we sat down the server brought out fresh chips and salsa. We ordered and were surprised how fast our food came out. I ordered the carnitas, my hubby ordered the bistec Mexicana and our kids ordered kids meals. I also ordered the hibiscus tea, which is delicious. It's a small place but the dining area is cozy. Great service, great food, and great prices. If you like Mexican food, try this place. read more

I've reviewed this place before, & back because it's hard to find Mexican restaurants with fresh toppings in Dublin. Many have not reopened after COVID and that's unfortunate! For some reason when I'm feeling under the weather it's always the Mexican soup that heals whatever is ailing me at that moment! So I tried the shrimp soup and I will give it 4 out of 5 stars... It was piping hot and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. It lacked other veggies and only came with overcooked onions and carrots. It came with a red and green sauce and they are very spicy! I tried 2 of the supreme tacos: Marinated beef & Pastor The marinated beef was 4 out of 5 stars: the beef was tender, but lack favor. The Pastor was the star: 5 out 5 stars the meat was filled with flavor and the pineapple added the perfect taste of sweetness. I only wish they provided a salsa with the tacos, but we do travel with hot sauce in a bag! read more

La Joya is a hole-in-the-wall type restaurant that offers good Mexican food in a no-frills type ambiance. It is my opinion that the best Mexican food does come from these humble, mom-and-pop type places and this place offers good food and while the menu doesn't stray far from the usual menu items that you see on the menus of countless Mexican restaurants, they execute these tried-and-true Mexican restaurant favorites. I have traveled a lot for work and still do and I find that Mexican food is probably the most consistent of the non-chain restaurants and cuisines that I have found. So, I have eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants when I travel for work. La Joya is a great find if you find yourself in this part of Georgia and looking for a good Mexican feast. All in all, I would definitely recommend La Joya and I will give it a solid four stars. Give them a try,I do not think that you will be disappointed. read more

After reading the previous reviews, I wanted to try everything on the menu, so I ordered way too much. The pollo la chipotle is incredible! (This is my new go to)! The beans were a little soupy, but had a great flavor. I'm not a big rice fan, but the pink rice is pretty tasty. The burrito supreme is HUGE, and yummy. (I got it with the beef). The homemade chips are thick and crunchy, and the cheese dip and complementary salsa (3 kinds), are all fantastic! I also ordered a side of sliced avocado, and the gave me at least one entire avocado, that was perfectly ripe. And unbelievably, it was the cheapest Mexican food I've ever had! Wow! Here because of a foul up with our hotel reservation 50 miles west, we kept driving towards Savannah GA, where we'll be stopping for 3 nights on this road trip. 'National' / 'regional' chains aplenty, few of what we desire. (almost at that point with accommodation, but that's a subject for another discussion) Dublin Georgia. Dinnertime. But where? "Yelp" as a resource to assist in the quest is VERY helpful. Less so Trip Advisor. Even less helpful, the staff at chain accommodation providers. Nonetheless we settle on Joya, which looks promising. Drive 3 miles each way. YES. Genuine YELP reviews. AFFIRMATIVE. Little strip mall. La JOYA, the JEWEL. A warm welcome. Clean washing facilities. Fresh Hibiscus ice tea within seconds of sitting down. Samples of cook's 'meats' within minutes along with complimentary made in house nachos & salsa (bottomless) Outstanding servers guiding us through the selection process...a good sized menu of REAL Mexican provincial cuisine (not TexMex). Our choices: Guacamole burrito (roasted pork as meat choice) and fresh taco ( beef tongue as meat choice) onion / cilantro. Fresh THERE's THAT WORD AGAIN ! salsa verde & salsa Rosa. Universally DELICIOSO. UN sweet hibiscus TEA is a rare treat. Hospitality off the scale GREAT. Many friendly locals dining in. A non alcohol facility. Families. 3 generations dining together. A nice out of the way, hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. For a small town in middle Georgia, the food is amazing. Those were the spiciest, greasiest tacos I've ever eaten in my whole life. I'll admit though, the first time I walked in here a few years ago, it was just a convenience type store with like two tables in the back. It is officially a restaurant now! Reminds me of being back in Houston with the food trucks! Authentic tacos on corn tortillas with cilantro and onion and a fresh lime on the side. The chips were thick and freshly made along with their salsa. So awesome! Thank you for transporting me back to Texas. My fiancee ordered the La Joya burrito and my momma got a chicken quesadilla. I absolutely loved the quesadilla! It was covered in white cheese sauce, which is a bonus :) Our server was on point and amazing. They serve Jarrito drinks (never had one until today and I can't believe I was missing out) as well as flavored teas.The two sauces the brought to the table, one red and one green, were both good, but be warned! The red sauce was HOT. I usually love hot things, trust me, but this sauce has a serious kick to it. I take off a star because they don't serve any alcohol. And the pink hue rice threw me off, but I googled it and apparently it's truly authentic Mexican rice. Not Tex-mex Spanish style rice we're accustomed to. We came for a Saturday lunch for the first time after reading good reviews. The service was friendly and prompt and drinks and food came out quickly. My son had the chicken soup which he enjoyed. It was a large bowl with a side of tortilla strips. I tried the seafood soup which came with an assortment of seafood. I am a big fan of seafood and enjoyed this unique soup. My daughter had steak tacos which she said were good. My husband had the paella which he liked. We also had the cheese dip as an appetizer and churros for dessert. Prices were extremely reasonable. Appetizers were great (the guacamole was the best I've ever had)! My personal favorite Mexican dish is Chilles Rellenos, & most restaurants do not prepare it the traditional way! Like the name says it La Joya. Which means the Jewel. That is what this restaurant is a jewel in the rough. It doesn't look like much when you pass by. But boy is the food flavorful. ICANTSAYENOUGH!! this was an amazing meal - la joya in Spanish means the jewel and this place definitely lives up to the name - i had the la joya burrito with chicken and it was fantastic - my co-worker had the Sante fe burrito and the entire time he was eating it couldn't stop talking about how good it was - we also ordered guacamole and Pico DE Gallo to have with what appear to be house made tortilla chips (which were pretty good) - the Pico was ok but the guacamole was really good overall this place is a must stop if you like Mexican and are in the area - shoot I might drive 2+ hours this weekend to come back up with the wife so she can experience it... the restaurant itself is lacking in appearance but the food way makes up for it - once again if you like Mexican food and you're in the area stop here and eat some of the best Mexican food I've ever had... read more

Delicious! Had dinner with the family. Nachos are home made and excellent for the Nachos appetizer. The nachos stay crisp as a result. The special was a chipotle burrito, wonderful tasting. The rice has a pink hue due to the authentic cooking. This was delicious as well. We were served hibiscus tea and goodness, that was refreshing. They even sang Happy Birthday to Mom and brought her a piece of cake, and as with everything else, it was perfect ending. We will certainly come back.
