Had a ceviche craving, so I googled ceviche near me. This place came up. I popped in, had ceviche for lunch. Enjoyed it! But I'm not sure what happened, because hours later I had the worst stomach pains, and every bit of that ceviche came back out in every way possible! I'm not sure if it was food poisoning, the preparation, or what, but it made for a miserable night! This could just be a one off situation, idk! I went to La Isla for the first time in years last week. I'm not usually in this area, so that's why I don't think to go here. It was great! The refried beans are really tasty. We had bean and cheese nachos, chicken flautas, and a combo plate, the Danielita. We went before a Rangers game on a Friday night and it was not too crowded and was very conveniently located to Globe Life Field. I highly recommend it! read more

Got the Caldo de Camaron and it was so bad the shrimp literally tasted like they were gone bad. I bit into it and the texture disintegrated in my mouth and had the worst taste. I told the lady at the front and she was sweet enough to make me another bowl with small shrimp because apparently it does happen that the big shrimp just don't taste good according to her. 2nd bowl tasted worse I left and got a stomach ache afterwards. read more

La isla has a very friendly staff. They just got tabc license, so not all alcohol was available when we came. Their salsa tastes like it is Pace salsa from a jar. Not bad, but you can tell it's not homemade. I am also not one to hate on someone's music, but they really need to switch their playlist.. their Christmas music includes some not very adult friendly kids songs. My husband and I were a little annoyed. Also "Jesus loves me, yes I know" just isn't appropriate for a public place that's not church. I ended up ordering the sour cream chicken enchiladas. They really weren't anything special. I probably wouldn't come back here again. read more

I don't think this place is called La Isla Del Encanto; the sign just says La Isla Restaurant. It is affiliated with Danielita's at 1100 E Pioneer Parkway, and the menu is apparently similar except that La Isla has seafood. My parents brought me here for dinner and I was trepidatious. They do not eat spicy food and little ethnic food, so I assumed it would be some sort of El Chico travesty of Tex Mex. I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong! The chips and salsa are lovely. They bring each person their own little bowl of salsa (I ate mine and my parents'), which is not very spicy but not totally without a kick and quite delicious. The chips are thin and crispy. Waitstaff is very friendly and accommodating but not overbearing. My parents speak no Spanish and have no trouble with special requests being executed correctly. I ordered in Spanish, which the waiter seemed to appreciated. I got the Tex Mex combo plate, where you choose your own three items, plus rice and beans. I ordered a bean chalupa, a guacamole chalupa, and a spinach enchilada. All were delicious! The guacamole was delicious and abundant. My favorite was the enchilada; the salsa verde is tangy and tasty (although, again, not hot--but there is hot sauce on the table) and the spinach inside was fresh, not gloppy frozen stringy spinach. I will definitely order a plate of spinach enchiladas next time I'm in town. My parents enjoyed their meals, chicken enchiladas verde and shrimp fajitas. The fajitas did not come out theatrically sizzling but plated as the other dishes are; we didn't mind. Good food, good service, and INSANE prices. I am used to DC, but $7.50 for my three item plate seems absurd to me. They have a daily special for $4.50. Insane. read more

So I came here maybe a 5 years ago. I ordered tacos and it wasn't that good. But given that they were still around 5 years later, I figured maybe they made improvements. Seems like they did! They have a nice blue/water theme inside their restaurant. I ordered their ceviche and it is better than most I have tried. :) I would try their food again. read more

This isla location is okay. I personally think the food, ambiance, and service is better at the location off cooper and park row . However based on my experiences at this location is can tell you the food doesn't disappoint. Usually this spot is pretty empty every time I've come by. But the good part is that there's no wait and the food arrives within minutes. My favorite plate is the ceviche. It is fish ceviche served on a big platter. Usually restaurants don't give big servings of ceviche which I'm assuming is due to the fish cost? But la isla is very generous with their plate sizes. I always ask them to add jalapeño to my ceviche, which is how im used to eating it from everywhere ive ordered it. Thats the only thing I don't like about the way they prepare it Their Bistec a la mexicana is hands down my favorite Bistec platter. It is delicious, spicy, juicy, saucy, and the meat is tender. The rice and the beans are also tasty. Another good dish to try is the Caldo de camarón. Their complimentary chips and salsa are good also , specially when they make the salsa spicy. Reluctantly gave it a 2nd try. The 2nd was even more disappointing than the 1st. We were hoping this restaurant would be good (or at least passable in a pinch) as we live close & don't have many other restaurants this close to our home. read more

La Isla del Encanto is not a Carribean restaurant as the name implies. La Isla del Encanta is the descriptive for Puerto Rico. Seems this restaurant perhaps once was a Carribean cuisine restaurant but is now a Mexican restaurant. The food was good but we were surprised. Want to like this place but the food was terrible. Reheating carne asada was the worst. Ceviche on a bed of lettuce was not worth it. Felt bad for my wife more, having to endure a terrible lunch. One good thing was our waitress was nice and friendly. Would have gave it two star if the waitress told us to run and never look back! read more

I usually just get the fajitas, but the ranchera enchiladas are the bomb. The staff speaks english but is limited. Hot sauce is pretty spicey so take it easy. Also compared to the other mexican places this place is pretty cheap. good food and atmosphere. I have not tried thier mixed drinks. read more

We didn't stop at first because the parking lot was empty but then i saw a good review somewhere. We went back and were very happy we did. The food and service was great. Everyone loved their food. The only complaints were that the guacamole had onions (I liked it) and the cheesedip was different. It was very yellow but it wasn't bad. I will look for this place when I go back to visit. read more
