We visited LA Hot Pot & BBQ shortly after they opened and had an interesting experience. It's nice to see more diverse dining options coming to Las Cruces, and hot pot is definitely something different for the area. One thing worth clarifying: this restaurant is not all-you-can-eat, even though some local posts were advertising it that way. The staff seemed surprised when we asked about it. The only unlimited items are the sauce bar (where you mix your own dipping sauces) and a small dessert station with fruit, a couple of small cakes, and ice cream. Everything else is ordered à la carte. You choose a broth base (around $4-$5) and then order plates of meats, vegetables, noodles, tofu, mushrooms, and other ingredients separately. Most items range from about $5 to $10 per plate, so the total can add up quickly depending on what you order. The sliced beef we tried was good quality, and the kids really enjoyed choosing different ingredients to cook in the pot. Hot pot is interactive and part of the fun is experimenting with combinations. The setup of the restaurant is actually very nice. Each table has built-in burners and individual pots, which works well for groups. It also appears to be a family-run restaurant, and during opening week you could hear the staff coordinating in Mandarin while trying to keep up with the rush. Service at our table was friendly, although we noticed some other tables waiting longer. The menu can be a little confusing if you've never had hot pot before, and there isn't much explanation provided. Since you cook everything yourself, it helps to go with someone who already knows how hot pot works. We did try a seafood combo, but the seafood didn't seem particularly fresh, so I'd probably recommend sticking with the meats and vegetables instead. Overall, it's a fun and interactive dining experience, especially if you've never tried hot pot before. Just keep in mind that the pricing structure means the bill can grow quickly depending on how much you order. It's still great to see Las Cruces getting more international cuisine, and the restaurant was busy during lunch with lots of people curious to try something new.

Interesting and unique dining that invites participation, collaboration, and discussions. If prepared, this can turn out to be a nice experience. But if you are hungry and have little time-this may not be the place for you. We had the Korean BBQ and the meat was quite tasty! Ice cream for dessert is good also.

Love the sauce bar where you can make your own concoction to add to your soup or eat with your meat!

I've gone to places that have great costumer service but he was beyond that and really elevated our experience! me and my partner were talking about it as we ate outside in the nice view and how this place is great beyond the food, the service is amazing just like the food my favorite is the brisket definitely recommend! When we walked in, we were greeted by a young man who asked if this was our first time there and provided instructions on how to order and what to expect. We were greeted at the counter by a young man who helped further by offering samples of their BBQ meats. Service was very good. We ordered 1/2 pound of brisket and 1/2 pound of pulled pork along with many sides including smalls of potato salad, coleslaw, creamed corn, and a large beans. It came with white or wheat bread. Let's get to the meat, brisket was very good, the pulled pork was juicy. Coleslaw was mayo based not vinegar based. The potato salad and creamed corn stole the show. So good! Beans were good too. Inside was large picnic tables and a country store vibe. As always we ask would we go back? "Meh, idk" was Amanda's answer. We may try another location before going back.

It is a super easy stop if you're coming through the area, plenty of parking and some cool planes to look at as well. Jim greeted us as we entered and took our order as well as served us and explained all the different color coded sauce options! Oh my was everything tasty! The side dishes were just as impressive as the meats! Hard to believe this all started because a friend asked Jim to make some BBQ for his birthday party! I want to say thank you for the hospitality and wonderful food you shared with us we had a wonderful lunch in restaurant and took the leftovers home for dinner with our selection of our favorite sauces. Definitely check this place out, another tip the gas station at the same exit on other side of freeway is one of the cheapest around too! So one stop shopping full yourself and the car up!

We arrived and there was already a delicious wafting of smoke and BBQ sauce when we opened the door. Yum. I got a 2 meat platter with spare ribs and brisket. It included 2 sides and I got fries and cornbread. Others had the Haystack burger, a 2 meat plate with brisket and turkey, a Jim Bobs burger and a pulled pork sandwich. I have no photo evidence of our meals because we all dove right in when served. My ribs were spicy, but the meat was very good. The brisket was outstanding. It was more food than I expected and I shared half of the brisket and one rib. The cornbread was warm and perfect and the fries were hot and had a nice coating on them. I'm so full there's no need for dinner! Everybody raved about their food. We loved the look of the restaurant, it's plane themed and it works! The meals were served in a reasonable amount of time, the woman who took our orders came over with our food and made sure we had everything we needed. We got to see a helicopter take off and a small jet arrive and that was certainly different than any other restaurant in town! And as an added treat, we stopped to see the repurposed public art Roadrunner on our way back into town. It was a great way to enjoy a little movement after a big lunch!

We went in at peak dinnertime but were seated right away. It looked like everyone else waiting had big groups of people but it was just two of us so we were seated near the bar. We started with the cactus blossom and it was really good. I haven't had one of these in years (maybe the last time was at a Chili's, but I can't remember). I ordered the blue lemonade and it was mildly sweet but it didn't have any flavor. I ordered the Roadkill for my appetizer. It was ground sirloin with mushrooms, grilled onions, and jack cheese on top. It was pretty good. My sides were the steak fries and the corn. My companion ordered the prime rib. We weren't sure it was available tonight as the waitress said they usually don't serve it on Sundays but for some reason it was on the menu tonight. My companion had a side salad and the chili as well. Everything was good. We had more than enough bread rolls because the staff kept bringing them out to us. The bread was good but by the time we got our entrees we were already stuffed. I couldn't finish my fries and I didn't even touch the corn so I took everything home in a to-go box. The bill was a little over $60 and for two people that's a pretty good deal for the quality and the amount of food we received. We had a good experience and I'd visit again sometime but based on other reviews it looks like everything is hit or miss. We were fortunate to be here on a good night.
