Rude customer service. If they only paid attention to what you said. Wasn't a particular busy day but the rude waitress was rushing and often greeted the same customers. As a foreigner herself you'd think she would treat everyone the same with respect. I got the salmon Benedict . Food was alright , the hollandaise was lacking , they didn't put what was advertised on the menu. It's annoying when you have to ask a place for what you pay for , they're not giving it to you for free , I didn't even bother. Dealing with a hostile waitress is enough of an inconvenience . Meh! Came to this place based off of a TikTok review, sadly disappointed by the owner and what I think was the spouse. Nonetheless, they where rude and short in an environment that you should be grateful that you have paying customers and got upset at the fact that I asked for a spoon to mix my sugar in my coffee (terrible!). For starters the only food items that where good are the Belgian waffles and the strawberry lemonade. Everything else was bland and tasteless, the bacon people raved about, the Marriott breakfast microwaved bacon is crispier and more tasteful! As for the American breakfast they brought out chilled chili that was pretty good but ice cold for a place that has concerns about food violations this item was cold! An absolutely lovely breakfast at this corner side, French Café, and bakery. Absolutely fantastic cup of coffee to start the morning, along with a perfectly mixed mimosa-- just the right amount of champagne and orange juice-- got things going on the right foot. I had the American breakfast, and the scrambled eggs were perfect and fluffy. I was curious about the side of chili, con Carne, but it was absolutely delicious, and served with great fresh avocado and a slice of toasted Artisanal bread. FRIENDLY!! That's the word that comes to mind first! Welcoming, kind, and of course very delicious foods. My husband and I were visiting Key West and this cafe was slamming busy, tons of customers. Despite the crowd, the server and everyone behind the counter was so friendly, greets you with a smile, and serves up great espresso and baked goods. While in the Keys I discovered that the crowds can bring out either the worst in staff/owner attitudes or the best. La Grignote brings the best, and I truly appreciate that. Ah La Grignote. So close to our hotel, it was nice to walk over in the morning and have coffee. First time here, we walked in and see all of the freshly baked French pastries and croissants. We're looking to sit and have a nice breakfast. My wife is always looking for breakfast with egg whites. I spy with my little eye a Salmon Eggs Benedict. We place our orders and I'm looking at the surroundings. It's nice to be dining on the patio with the lush plantings and beautiful weather. The Salmon EB? Bangin'. A generous use of dill and fresh avocado was all held together in a nice flaky croissant. This was a perfectly executed breakfast, put together very nicely. Kudos to the chef! I have my coffee and I'm not leaving without trying some of their baked goods. I'm always in search of a perfect chocolate chip cookie. Add walnuts and you suddenly piqued my interest. Ooh la la! The next day, I walked over and I'm not looking to sit and have breakfast. I want a hot off the rack croissant. I zero in, who I'm assuming is the owner. She has this outrageous French accent, she's a little cutie pie. We start making small talk as I sip my bold French coffee. There's a place in Chelsea, La Bergamote and I love their freshly baked croissants. La Grignote is on par with the quality of their baked products. Food: Maybe I'm too used to expensive small plates in NYC, but these were so reasonably priced for the large portion sizes provided. - Veggie Croissant Benedict ($13.50): Perfectly poached eggs over a flaky croissant smothered with delicious homemade Benedict sauce. The veggie version comes with arugula, asparagus, heirloom tomatoes, and avocado, which made me feel good even if it still really wasn't THAT healthy because of the Benedict sauce. - Orange juice ($4.75): The "fresh squeezed" in the northeast just can't compare to the one in Florida! Service/Ambiance: The staff was running ragged with the number of people and constant turnover with an ever growing line waiting for a table. They were pleasant and efficient though. For the last five years we have come to Key West we have had multiple breakfasts and lunches at La Grignote. This year, we were quite disappointed both at lunch and at breakfast the next day. We got a ham and cheese croissant and a croque monsieur. Both seemed like they had been reheated and I needed a ridged knife to cut through the bread. The next day's breakfast was not much better. The beautiful flavors of the potato breakfast were all missing. The almond croissant also seemed a day old and my multi grain toast was chewy. We asked if the owners were there, only to be told they sold the place this year. Note to the new owners: please take more care with your output. We don't need things quickly or mass produced. If that is too much to ask, then change the menu to something you're better at. read more

Viva Francois! I must admit I love French cafes and this one has many of the attributes you would expect. The food is fresh and the accompanying salad it flavorful. Staff are pleasant and the owner walks around and greets the guests. You feel like you have come over to an old friends house for a quick bite. Had an excellent lunch here yesterday on the way to the Butterfly Conservancy across the street. The pesto chicken salad was amazing. I loved the crunch on the toasty edges of the homemade bread. We also had the roast beef panini and key lime and strawberry lemonades. Both tart and very refreshing. We took with us a wonderful piece of lemon pistachio cake and blueberry muffin for dessert. That lemon cake was incredible. I loved the dense texture and slight crunch from the pistachios. Not too sweet - perfect snack for later in the day when you want something after all the walking and humidity! Can't wait to come back to try breakfast. The French toasts looked amazing! read more

Another wonderful find during our week in Key West is the relatively recent addition of La Grignote. I loved coming in for an early breakfast since the space is so beautiful with an open kitchen that shows all of the day's freshly made baked goods and offerings displayed behind glass. There is comfortable seating with beautiful plants all around. The food comes plated on colorful, rustic plates making the experience all just so... Speaking of food, everything is so well made and reasonably priced. The BEC croissant sandwich I enjoyed had a nice crisp exterior while being buttery, light and airy inside - so much better than the super soft croissants found in most places. Scrambled eggs were creamy mixed with the swiss cheese and bacon pieces. Really couldn't get more perfect. A nice addition of fresh fruit truly completed the meal. Just as good was the ham and cheese croissant - a glorious amalgam of bechamel, swiss cheese and ham throughout the buttery baked croissant. The service from the owner was thoughtful and efficient all while she made friendly conversation with a delightful french accent. Save yourself a trans-Atlantic flight and just come here because all the elements of La Grignote seem to transport you to the south of France without actually needing a passport - all for very reasonable prices. I followed my nose and my nose took me here. I was in an immediate love trans the second I smelled this place. Like a cartoon and I had just finished having breakfast next door. The smell of fresh baked goods is dangerously wonderful. Wow am in food heaven. Help I can't stop ordering stuff and am really full.everything looks and smell so wonderfully delicious here. A hidden little restaurant, more like French bakery. They have fresh bake goods. You can smell it baking. Every thing here ìs delicious. I had so far, lol an almond croissant with coffee and I was so happy. It was as delicious as I dreamed it. Fresh warm flaky buttery crust on a chocolate croissant. The coffee was also very good.. I also got some other pastries for our trip back home. This is a small store. It has some sitting are but not many its more of a take out place. I promise you'll love the food here. read more

Granted, we didn't get to go to that many, but how can you resist a place owned by a wife and husband team, a pug (who is the mascot) that walks around with a bandana that reads "do not feed", the patio atmosphere, lovely plants, and a very adventurous and varied menu. The baked goods are amazing, and their take on the lobster eggs Benedict--it has a special sauce that I would probably buy if it came in a jar! A lady next to us left because they didn't serve omelettes....?!? There's so many other delicious things on the menu!!!! I started with a mimosa which was good, fresh OJ was fab and then cappuccino was just perfect with light froth hand picked with spoon rather than dumped! Blueberry danish was soft and fluffy, but little too buttery for my liking, kids devoured it. Blueberry filling was fresh and juicy.
