Managed to walk in and snag one of the last tables on a Friday evening. Had a overall pleasant experience here. We tried:
Bread with tomato (pan con tomate) - No fault to La Gormanda, I just don't think I'm a fan of this dish - found it far too oily (and didn't come across a version in Spain where this wasn't the case).
Pickled leeks and sweet potato - The leeks were quite yummy and paired very well with the sweet potato purée. One of my favorites from the night.
Pumpkin on carbonara of pine nuts - Fascinatingly savory when I typically associate pumpkin with being sweet. Not sure I loved it but it was interesting.
Octopus "bomba", rocota cream and black garlic aioli - Very good and light surprisingly.
Duck canelloni with funghi and foie - Duck and foie wrapped inside a very thin pasta sheet - decadent but extremely delicious.
Chocolate bomba - Interesting and liked the contrast of crunch chocolate and chocolate mousse but thought the mousse could have been less dense.
Hazelnut streusel with passion fruit and mango - Tart passion fruit / mango cream (?) on top of a hazelnut streusel base (think like a cookie). Fine but not standout.
Overall wouldn't say I was blown away, but generally enjoyed everything and appreciated the twists they brought to the dishes. read more
