3.5 stars and rounded up for service. Looking for a quick bite I decided to drop by after locating this place via Gmaps reviews. At 5pm it was much too early for dinner so inside the restaurant it was pretty empty, though a couple tables sat outdoors enjoying some drinks and small bites. Seating is sufficient for about 20-25 people indoors and another dozen+ outside.
The owner and staff were very welcoming and friendly, immediately indicating in English how the ordering process worked --you select the pintxos you want, and the drinks if any, and they heat up the bites and bring them out to you--then invited me to take a seat anywhere.
I chose one of the smaller high tables with barstools and within 5 minutes my caña of pale lager beer (Estrella Galicia) was served and turned out to be a sizeable glass. A few minutes later the small bites came out--I got mini-chorizo sausages, pickled anchovies, carmelized onion over grilled squash, and a mini fish croquette--each on a piece of toasted bread. The chorizo was ok, the caramelized onion was fragrant though maybe slightly more oniony than I usually prefer (though onion-lovers you may disagree lol). I liked the tad of brininess and acidity of the anchovies and the croquette was a good texture and flavor though a little cold on the inside, which I can't really blame the restaurant for in this case as it is autumn and the temperatures are dropping so pre-made pintxos in this type of format which are normally room temp might feel a bit colder. If you've had fancier or made-to-order pintxos elsewhere, then you'll find this spot won't blow your mind, but overall I could recommend for a casual bite if you're in the area. read more
