We can handle a bit of walking and find somewhere close and local for coffee and perhaps brunch later. After all, this is Rome, right? Wandering through the Villa Borghese gardens for 2 hours, there's no cafe, trattoria, or even a vending machine. 2 cranky pre-teens and 2 grouchy parents. I'm tempted to eat the purslane growing on the sidewalk. Need. Coffee. Sustenance. Now. Voila. We almost walked past Café Lembo. Friendly staff. Offered us iced water. Good cups of coffee. Delicious and nutritious, if not simple, sandwiches. Ahhh. Thank you, Café Lembo. We'll be back. If we wander stupidly hungry through the Villa again.

The store wasn't busy, so the process was quick as well. First, you order and pay in the back counter. Then you'll get a ticket to claim your tiramisu at the display case. We got one Classic Tiramisu (€5), which was perfectly boxed up. I like that they sprinkled the pistachio one only when you order, so it keeps it fresh and crunchy. The coffee flavor is strong and creamy. Even days later, it tasted just as good too, especially with the flavor soaked into the ladyfingers. It's the perfect treat while exploring Rome or to take back to your place to enjoy afterwards.

Expensive, But Not Surprising…read more While claiming to be the 3rd oldest coffee shop in the world, Antico Caffe Greco does not skimp on classy. They understand why people will step through their doors, and perhaps sometime in the past 2 and a half centuries, they realized they can monetize their history for a ridiculous amount of profit. The result? A unique, classy, delicious, EXPENSIVE, coffee shop experience. The price is justified by the extreme level of service and the very comfortable, historical, and fancy interior of the cafe. It's humungous, too! The attendant in the bathroom waiting to assist you (for whatever reason) is an interesting touch. While I personally believe that these prices are still ridiculous (hence knocking it down a star), a one-time visit to this place is warranted for those who want to be a part of this cafe's history. Just don't be surprised by the hefty price of entry.
