My sopes were hot and made fresh and I was so pleased with them. All the toppings were so good, except the chicken. The chicken looked and tasted like it'd seen better days. I ate my 2 LARGE sopes and slid the chicken to the side, I also enjoyed my sopes with rice and beans. Each sope was $8.50 and the side of rice and beans was $3.99. As I was waiting for my food and I noticed the tv. I think they should DEFINITELY have a different channel on.

We were looking for a small and quick bite to eat...our go to Taco place was closed and after looking at the pricing at another Mexican restaurant in the downtown (expensive) we found La Fuente. Where tacos were a reasonable $2.50-$2.75 per taco! Simple and delicious. They have a self serve salad bar and the salsa roja was my favorite. It had great flavor. We ordered taquitos also but they weren't anything to die for. I don't think I would order those again. I would prefer more tacos! Also got a quesadilla and that was good. Your average quesadilla but with the salsas....delicious! It's not very glamorous inside but the food is good. There are also 2-3 small tables to sit outside near the parking. I would come back here.

True hole in the wall spot in Ojai. Homemade tortillas! Located in a small strip of stores just past The Nest and downtown shops. Looking for a quick bite with a hangry toddler, I stumbled upon La Fuente. This is a no fuss spot. To be honest at first I was apprehensive because it looked a little messy. I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered a bean and cheese kids size burrito (super generous size) and chicken taquitos. Within about 10 minutes our food was ready! We enjoyed our food outdoors. Very reasonable prices and satisfying. The burritos and tamales seem to be a local favorite. While not the prettiest or more quaint restaurant, it gets the job done. Quick, tasty, fresh, and reasonable. Will return!

Not the fanciest place in town, but it has authentic Mexican food. When we left at 12:30pm (April 2023) there was a long line out the door, of mostly local laborers. I had the 2 beef tamales plate, which came with rice & beans ($12.99 before tax). It was good, though one tamale had the beef filling inside only about 2/3rds of it. But the beans were the best I've had in decades. They didn't have a good, mild red sauce at the salsa bar and all they had were tiny plastic miniature cups instead of small salsa bowls. It was good enough were I will come back again, but will order something different.

La Fuente is authentic Mexican food and is muy bien y delicioso! The staff is great and the prices can't be beat! I had 3 street tacos for lunch and it was soooo much food and so reasonably priced! $2.50 per taco and each one comes with a generous amount of meat. They are one of the few restaurants in Ojai that is open until 10 on Friday & Saturday! Next time, I want to try the Huraches- My mouth was watering as the waitress delivered it to another table.

Talk about a hole in the wall! So there are dozens and dozens of places scattered in downtown Ojai, most of which are poppin with people. We were originally headed somewhere a little more modern and classy, but passing a couple on the sidewalk I was recommended to this dinky little spot and just went for it. There is no glam whatsoever and one might easily miss it in the corner of this little parking lot. But, the Mexican food was so bomb! They make their tamales fresh each morning and when they're out, they're out! They are delicious. The ladies in the kitchen make your food right there and bring it out, again, nothing fancy... I had a chile relleno with grilled nopolas and onions on the side. And had a bite of two of their tamales; man they're worth coming here to try! One thing though, even their spiciest salsa really isn't all too spicy. I was a tad bummed. But overall it's a good little find. P.s. I'm very, very swayed by the ambiance of a place, so that's why it's one less star than I was originally thinking. but again, that's because I'm a sucker for the pretty places. The food is great, five star food Id conclude.

How do you serve food like this? Burnt enchiladas buried in lettuce and sour cream. Maybe you thought someone would not turn the tortilla over to see what they were eating. I guess people light to eat garbage. Also, the place is filthy inside the dining room. Help!

Frankly, I thought it was probably just another taco place and wasn't expecting much... but BOY was I wrong! One pork and one chicken soft taco and they both knocked my socks off. I'm not even a chicken taco fan, but that one was mind blowing good! The owner whose name I won't even attempt to spell because I would just butcher it, was very kind. He only takes cash, but I didn't notice the sign. I was a dollar short and he took care of me anyway. Trust me though, his tacos are worth more than he charges and worth every penny! The tacos were packed with protein, honestly a much better meat-to-filling ratio compared to the quesadilla. We didn't try the burritos this time, but maybe we'll give one a try on our next visit...maybe. It's mainly a lunch stop and takeout only, so plan to grab your food and head to a nearby park or shady corner to enjoy it. It is cash only, though there's an ATM inside, and you'll find assorted drinks, juices, and refreshing aguas frescas to go with your meal. The line can get long, so arrive early and bring your patience. They can sell out too, so plan accordingly. Overall, it's a low-key spot with authentic flavors and reasonable prices. If you don't mind waiting a bit, it's worth trying for an early lunch since there are plenty of other great restaurants in the area.

I had the avocado toast, which was really tasty, and everyone in the group seemed to enjoy what they ordered. I am definitely surprised by the lower reviews as our experience on a Sunday evening was pretty stellar and hopefully the reviews continue to be more positive if the restaurant and staff are making adjustments to the feedback. We stumbled in on a Sunday evening after wine tasting. We truthfully wanted round two of drinks and a clean bathroom lol. I had heard about this spot in the past and their curb appeal drew us in. Love their signage, the name/logo on the front wall, and once we walked in the bar seemed very cute and inviting. Probably what would have been an initial red flag was that it was dead inside but we just wanted to sit and enjoy a cocktail. The outdoor patio seemed cute and did have like three tables full. We looked over the menu and were actually very impressed. They have an extensive cocktail menu with fun looking drinks and ingredients. The food menu looked pretty appetizing to me if I'm being honest. Based off of the menu alone I'd come back. Happy hour during her weekdays seems legit too. My group only ordered cocktails but the drinks were pretty and a generous pour! Three of us ordered the prickly pear margaritas and we loved the tall glass they came in. We really loved how the female bartender whipped our drinks up super quickly. My other friend got a Smokey cocktail and we all agreed we really liked our drinks. Had we not already been drinking all afternoon I would have definitely ordered another cocktail. The staff were actually very nice and sweet (going against other reviews). The bartender again was really quick with the drinks and made them very tasty. The waitress who checked up on us was darling. Me and my girlfriends were deep in conversation and I appreciated how she would check in on us but also was mindful to not seem interruptive. She also gave us recommendations on what food is popular and to order next time. While I only experienced the bar area I was very pleased with our visit. Drinks were good, the decor cute, and nice staff. Hoping more people will give them a try as we really liked this spot. Clean single bathroom too in the back which was helpful as we all needed a pit stop and refresh. Definitely keeping this spot in mind next time I'm in Ojai and needing a margarita.
