This small hole in the wall was pretty good for a post bike ride burrito, but I was also very hungry. Pretty fast and decent sized, if it was bigger and had more I wouldn't complain though since I eat a lot and the flavors were very good. The self serve salsa bar came in clutch being able to add smoky Roja salsa with every bite, just wish I was even more read more

I LOVE this place! It's just a hole in the wall strip mall kind of place, but the food is so good, and the prices are so low. I eat here ever time I come to Ojai, about 3-4 times a year. And the family that runs this place are just the liveliest, friendliest people you'll ever meet. Once, my wife accidentally left her purse here with $1200 cash in it. It took us over 2 hours to remember where we left it, and when we returned it was safely tucked under the front counter waiting for us with everything inside. Just today I showed up just as they were closing, right at 6:00, and they dropped everything just to fill my little $14 order, even though my tardiness made sure they would stay late. All with a smile and cheerful attitude. Hardly a 5 star restaurant, but a fast, convenient place with great food and great people. If I could give them 10 stars I would. read more

Skip all the expensive food in Ojai and just go here. Don't forget to get a tamale.beautiful Al pastor burrito. Flavorful without needing to be spicy. The cheese and pepper tamale was the highlight. Clean restrooms for travelers. read more

My sopes were hot and made fresh and I was so pleased with them. All the toppings were so good, except the chicken. The chicken looked and tasted like it'd seen better days. I ate my 2 LARGE sopes and slid the chicken to the side, I also enjoyed my sopes with rice and beans. Each sope was $8.50 and the side of rice and beans was $3.99. As I was waiting for my food and I noticed the tv. I think they should DEFINITELY have a different channel on. read more

Love the food, but we've ordered burritos several times paying $2 extra for sour cream and haven't haven't added it. Multiple times..

Great place to stop by for lunch when I had more expensive breakfast and dinner planned. The asada burrito bowl was delicious. I opted out of the salsa bar, but wish I hadn't. read more

Love!!!! Great food, great customer service. We eat here throughout the year but the stand out is their tamales we get every Christmas Eve. We preorder and they 100% get it right every year! Sooooo good! read more

We were looking for a small and quick bite to eat...our go to Taco place was closed and after looking at the pricing at another Mexican restaurant in the downtown (expensive) we found La Fuente. Where tacos were a reasonable $2.50-$2.75 per taco! Simple and delicious. They have a self serve salad bar and the salsa roja was my favorite. It had great flavor. We ordered taquitos also but they weren't anything to die for. I don't think I would order those again. I would prefer more tacos! Also got a quesadilla and that was good. Your average quesadilla but with the salsas....delicious! It's not very glamorous inside but the food is good. There are also 2-3 small tables to sit outside near the parking. I would come back here. read more

True hole in the wall spot in Ojai. Homemade tortillas! Located in a small strip of stores just past The Nest and downtown shops. Looking for a quick bite with a hangry toddler, I stumbled upon La Fuente. This is a no fuss spot. To be honest at first I was apprehensive because it looked a little messy. I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered a bean and cheese kids size burrito (super generous size) and chicken taquitos. Within about 10 minutes our food was ready! We enjoyed our food outdoors. Very reasonable prices and satisfying. The burritos and tamales seem to be a local favorite. While not the prettiest or more quaint restaurant, it gets the job done. Quick, tasty, fresh, and reasonable. Will return! read more

Great Huevos Rancheros!! Homemade corn tortillas were excellent!! My soul was nourished. Ambiance? Just kinda hole In the wall'ish. Service? Food server was wearing gloves which was good to see after the other worker (dont know her title) rolled the dirty floor mat out with her bare hands and then touched the salsa spoons/stirred the salsa without washing her hands (and there is literally a sink right next to the salsa bar). I was too hungry & hung over to care at the moment and didnt get sick- but decided not to go for the salsa. The cooks did a great job, though!!!! Other level. Cleared the plate. read more

My mom, sister and I were looking for a quick bite to eat before driving home to OC. This restaurant was recommended by a local business owner. Each of us ordered the chile rellenos: two orders with the fresh corn tortillas and one chile relleno burrito. Everything was absolutely delicious! The cheesy rellenos, perfect rice, and delicious beans were fresh and so satisfying! The pipping hot, fresh corn tortillas were over the top amazing! I am saving this place in my Yelp app and will visit again. Keep up the delicious food! read more

Not the fanciest place in town, but it has authentic Mexican food. When we left at 12:30pm (April 2023) there was a long line out the door, of mostly local laborers. I had the 2 beef tamales plate, which came with rice & beans ($12.99 before tax). It was good, though one tamale had the beef filling inside only about 2/3rds of it. But the beans were the best I've had in decades. They didn't have a good, mild red sauce at the salsa bar and all they had were tiny plastic miniature cups instead of small salsa bowls. It was good enough were I will come back again, but will order something different. read more

La Fuente is authentic Mexican food and is muy bien y delicioso! The staff is great and the prices can't be beat! I had 3 street tacos for lunch and it was soooo much food and so reasonably priced! $2.50 per taco and each one comes with a generous amount of meat. They are one of the few restaurants in Ojai that is open until 10 on Friday & Saturday! Next time, I want to try the Huraches- My mouth was watering as the waitress delivered it to another table. read more

Talk about a hole in the wall! So there are dozens and dozens of places scattered in downtown Ojai, most of which are poppin with people. We were originally headed somewhere a little more modern and classy, but passing a couple on the sidewalk I was recommended to this dinky little spot and just went for it. There is no glam whatsoever and one might easily miss it in the corner of this little parking lot. But, the Mexican food was so bomb! They make their tamales fresh each morning and when they're out, they're out! They are delicious. The ladies in the kitchen make your food right there and bring it out, again, nothing fancy... I had a chile relleno with grilled nopolas and onions on the side. And had a bite of two of their tamales; man they're worth coming here to try! One thing though, even their spiciest salsa really isn't all too spicy. I was a tad bummed. But overall it's a good little find. P.s. I'm very, very swayed by the ambiance of a place, so that's why it's one less star than I was originally thinking. but again, that's because I'm a sucker for the pretty places. The food is great, five star food Id conclude. read more

Ordered a breakfast burrito from THEIR description, BREAKFAST BURRITOS Rice, beans, cheese, onion, cilantro & eggs with choice of bacon, ham, chorizo, sausage or potatoes I ordered sausage. I picked up my order and left. Got home and started to eat. First noticed it was rather smaller than most. Began eating and found it only had beans, rice and a diced hot dog! No egg, onion, cilantro, cheese or sausage! Hot dogs are not sausage! Very bad burrito for the money and DEFINITELY NOT WHAT WAS DESCRIBED IN THEIR MENU! Will not go back. read more

It was a Sunday and most sit down restaurants were busy even despite the COVID-19 pandemic. We were hungry and found this hidden gem which wasn't crowded but had many customers picking up orders to go. Convenient right downtown Ojai Prices are good Ordered taquitos, tamales, cheese enchiladas beans and rice. All completely bland and tasteless and cold. Could be the worst Mexican food I've ever had. My wife thought that she had been to La Fuente before and liked it. We stopped in for lunch on a visit to Ojai as we returned to Orange County from a two-day trip to Solvang. The place is in the far corner of a small strip mall off the main drag. There is plenty of indoor seating and a restroom. The bano seemed dirty and the toilet was stopped up. My wife ordered two tacos, carne asada and carnitas. I ordered two fish tacos. Both orders came with rice and beans. My wife liked her tacos all right. Except for cilantro and hot sauce, mine were tasteless, and I'm not picky about my Mexican food. The rice and beans were standard fare. The people are nice, and we got our food quickly. The reviews all rave about the tacos, but since my wife is Mexican and wasn't wowed, I doubt we'll be back. read more

This is good authentic Mexican food for a good price. Chicken Asada was grilled with napales and onions was wonderful with homemade corn tortillas. Pork tamales were good and came with a nice combo of things in the tamale bowl. Carne Asada had a nice flavor but had 2 bites of gristle (not uncommon). Chile Relleno had a very nice flavor but my dining partner would have preferred no thin tomatoes sauce over it. Homemade beans were good and rice was as expected. Defiantly would come back again. read more
