This place is adorable! I was in town from NY staying with a friend around the corner. She was working all day so I was exploring this little neighborhood. The staff, who r the owners could not be nicer - it felt almost like eating at someone's house. Everything is made fresh there is indoor and outdoor seating. I got there around 3pm and it was empty, but that's not exactly lunch or dinner and I was happy it was quiet. By the time I got my taco salad people of various sorts were coming thru: tourists, locals, Mexican natives (good sign of quality in my opinion!) But still very chill not noisy. Nice low volume vintage Mexican music, large flat screen TV w the sound OFF. Ok the food! I got the taco salad w el pastor. Much bigger than it looks and so filling. Very generous ratio of el pastor to the other ingredients which is unusual. Most of the time, in my experience, it's a ton of lettuce. I had to put more than half in a box. The only thing I ask for next time is extra tomatoes. I noticed they have a kiosk for to-go orders, so if that's u, it will save a lot of time, as I'm assuming this place gets very busy. Came to celebrate my friend's birthday and couldn't be happier with food and service here. Teresa was so amazing. You can tell the food is prepared with love. The hand made tortillas take the cake. Our household dines here often. This place has a lot of options, staff is attentive and friendly and there's consistency in flavors/food. I love the shrimp tacos, kids usually get BRC burritos or burgers, and the fajitas burrito is flavorful. I don't particularly like what's at the salsa bar but it's popular. This has happened on more than once. I don't have time to write positive reviews. Your business should stand on its own with or without Yelp. If your business was exceptional I may have. Uncertain why you bring my review of Lake Casitas into this other than a diversion. Lake Casitas reviews speak for themselves. Just as your reviews speak for themselves and your response to my review. If you read the reviews you will see most people agree with that. Your menu says nothing about multiple breakfast burrito as it claims. Hash browns black and white. No one "stomped off". I simply refuse to be gouged by your business practices. So I went next door to the donut hole next door and gave them my business. Fantastic breakfast sandwiches by the way! Serve your food as advertised, don't overcharge your customers for things. Everything seemed normal when I went to order food, but as I waited I kept feeling eyes on me. Each time I looked up, the girl at the register would quickly look away. One time is a coincidence, twice maybe a fluke. But the third time? I could see the girl in the kitchen laughing with the one up front through the passthrough. Instead of looking down to my phone or away, I kept my head up. The girl up front would look at me then away, now uncomfortable because I was aware of being made the butt of a joke. I was sickened by this and almost left on the spot. Somehow, I stuck it out and managed to keep calm as I got my breakfast burrito. I could not bring myself to eat it, though it smelled good. I ultimately threw it in the trash, unopened. I cannot support a business which would openly mock me for being transgender. My main regret is giving them a tip. Never going here again. read more

I love El Jarro for many reasons! If you're looking for a place in Ojai to eat Quesabirria Tacos (made with shredded beef birria and melted cheese on a corn tortilla), then you've hit a gold mine! You're gotta give them a try! Goes best accompanied by a Mexican Coke in a glass bottle. The ceviche tastes similar to the one I grew up eating in the Northeast (Los Altos) region of Jalisco in Mexico. Take my word that this is as authentic as it gets for ceviche - note that different regions in Mexico have different ceviche recipes. Accompany this with one of their flavored Micheladas (my favorite is the Tamarind Michelada w/a Modelo Especial). They also source their beef from local butcher, Watkins Ranch, I love to hear that they work with local partners to bring the freshest ingredients to their dishes. During the holidays, you can order tamales by the dozen or half-dozen. They have green chicken or red pork tamales, among others. What better way to share Mexican heritage than with tamales during the holidays? Now that you've heard it from me, go try it for yourself! read more

Used to go to this spot when it was la Fuente which was ok . Looks like there is new management and the food and service has definitely improved . I would recommend the quesabirria tacos and a nice cold Michelada. Service is great. Portions and pricing is fair . Will be coming here often read more

Ordered one of their Red Pork Tamales for lunch here and ended up spitting up what felt like slimey stomach lining like substance and then having to thoroughly inspect my tamale to find more bits and pieces of the fatty tissue (attached photo) along with chunks of chili peppers and corn(second photo with highlighted areas in red) In all my years of making tamales and buying them from other locations I never had this problem/issue so I assumed they gave me the wrong one. I called them to see if they maybe gave me the wrong tamale and try to solve the issue so it didn't escalate. However the lady who answered the phone was beyond rude, she made comments such as "pinche vieja mentirosa" and then about "banning me" from their restaurant for asking if I could possibly get a refund. I was left at a loss for words from how blatantly disrespectful they were. They don't need to "ban me" won't be coming here again. read more

Portions are so small and rude workers . I ordered a burrito bowl to go and when I opened the container it was smeared everywhere and there was an incredibly small serving. I'm a small person and doesn't need to eat a lot to be full, but i'm still hangry af after eating this bowl . It also tasted too salty. Overall it was a bad experience. read more
