The best pit stop in the valley. Burritos are fire. Their michelada cups are the best. And their service is always on point.

By far the most authentic, fresh torta I've had in my life. I'd drive 2 hours to come to this spot. MUST TRY

Yelp Review: Asadero Neighborhood in Calexico…read moreRating: 3/5 Asadero Neighborhood is a mixed bag, and it's unfortunate that such a well-located and beautifully designed restaurant falls short in key areas. Here's a detailed breakdown: 1. Location and Ambiance: 5/5 The restaurant is in a prime spot, easy to find and conveniently located. The ambiance is fantastic, with a welcoming decor that captures the essence of a cozy, neighborhood Mexican eatery. The space is clean, well-lit, and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal - if only the rest of the experience matched up. 2. Food Preparation and Quality of Food Service: 1/5. This is where Asadero Neighborhood falters significantly. Upon entering, we were not greeted despite the restaurant being nearly empty with only five patrons dining. We stood at the door for about three minutes without acknowledgment, long enough to memorize the menu and contemplate our life choices, before a server finally motioned us to a table. When we asked the server for menus, he seemed uninterested and disengaged. We had to wait another five minutes before he took our order. Questions about the menu items, such as the chicken nachos and machaca with eggs, were met with vague and unhelpful responses. Apparently, asking whether the machaca was dry or stewed was akin to inquiring about the secrets of the universe. The nachos were served cold, and the machaca was chewy and unflavored. It took intervention from my end to salvage the machaca dish by asking the server to microwave it for five minutes. Yes, I had to instruct the kitchen on how to fix their own dish. The final result was a tasty, tender, and delicious plate of machaca and eggs - thanks to the cook's ability to correct the server's mistake. 3. Customer Service: 1/5. Customer service was notably lacking. The server seemed preoccupied and inattentive, failing to provide basic hospitality. Our drinks took ten minutes to arrive, and there was no proactive effort to make us feel welcome or well-served. It felt like we were invisible until it was absolutely necessary to acknowledge our existence. The experience was marred by the server's lack of knowledge and engagement. 4. Overall Experience: The cook deserves high praise for managing to turn a disappointing dish into a satisfying one, demonstrating culinary skill and commitment. However, the lackluster service and initial food quality severely undermined our dining experience. In conclusion, while Asadero Neighborhood excels in location and ambiance, it falls flat on food preparation and customer service. With some significant improvements in these areas, it could become a top dining destination in Calexico. Until then, it's a place with potential that's yet to be fully realized. Jordan

Maybe one of the top 3 worse burritos I've had. We ordered 2 from here yesterday and 3 of us ate…read morethem. All of us really disliked the food. The carne asada was super fatty and flavorless, the tortillas were thick and not tasty, The beans didn't taste very good. Will be the last time I order from here. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one is because of the size.
