Great salsa and bacahta tunes. There was also an interesting form of French Reggaeton called "Tropiques" Price was 8 Euro on Sunday Night including free drink coupon. I would suggest getting a beer or wine as my Cuba libre was a small amount of rum and a ton of soda. The place had a nice crowd. I would recommend to any foreigner that is comfortable with Miami/NYC/Caribbean nightclubs. The room was very authentically Parisian, not many foreigners here on a Sunday night. So, of course, we simply HAD to go check it out on our trip to Paris. Anything David Lynch is part of, I want to see/experience. However, it did not deliver. Sure it was dark (it's a crazy 4-6 stories below ground), but it is mysterious & chic? Well, given that those with a membership can enter from 6p-11p and enjoy it privately and the public can enter after 11p and the public that lines up beginning at 11p kinda ruins the whole vibe, the answer would be a hard no. We arrived and on one side was a line for the dreaded "bottle service" - those willing to pay hundreds and thousands of €, to sit inside a velvet roped area inside the club, Gross. Strike one. We got into the line on the other side, where the bouncers were acting like it was a cross between Studio 54 and an exclusive rap club. They were hassling locals, making them sweat to get in. Then, when it's our turn, they immediately recognize that we're non-locals and speak English to us. They were actually cordial, but said "Good evening sir - - €25 each!" Ugh, strike two. After descending into the cavernous space, which is actually pretty cool, you quickly realize it very small and the seating is all bottle service/"VIP". Then you also realize the crowd is not the hip, creative cognoscenti of Paris, but rather the Parisian version of frat boys and sorority girls, that have zero interest in art, culture and likely have zero idea who David Lynch is. Strike three. Am I glad I went to see it, sure, but I think we stayed 45 mins tops. Ugh.

Observations at La Machine du Moulin Rouge: All the bar staff wore these cute, incredibly French stripey t-shirts. The drinks were an extraordinarily reasonable 4 euros a pop. I learned about a new drink. It's called mojito a la champagne. It's a mojito, but you put the champagne where the soda water used to be. You should get it. I also learned that "tequila" is also "tequila" in French. I love the cramped, super uncomfortable smoking room at the front where you can squeeze yourself against an ungodly number of attractive Frenchmen. I was asked if I had MDMA maybe 6 times in 2 hours. French bouncers are maybe the nicest bouncers in the whole entire world. French gigs are maybe the smelliest gigs you will ever go to in your life.

The venue looks sketchy from the outside, but the bouncers are kind and inside, the place is really comfortable and nice. They had a band playing live music, two floors to look at what's going on, and a really cool bar. Their happy hours were kind of weird (during happy hours, their beers are priced really well, but it ended pretty early) and the club closed comparatively early. I'd recommend this place as a chill vibe/pre-game to get to see the city in a relaxing and introspective way.

Me being from another country and not knowing French laws followed suit and lit a cigarette. It was such a dark and dingy bar that i wouldn't be surprised for patrons to smoke there. When my cigarette was almost finished the same angry thug looking man came up to me and grabbed my hand aggressively and squeezed it hard manhandling me until my wrist hurt and took the cigarette out of my hand and said 'get out! Get out! You are forbidden to ever be in this club again! You have broken French laws. I'm escorting you out!' I have never been treated like this in my life like I was a thief or a horrible person. I didn't know French laws were as such and it was an innocent mistake. I was manhandled and in the USA I could sue this bar for touching me in this way. I will investigate French laws and might file a claim. No one should aggressively manhandle a woman this way. Disgusting treatment of patrons. Coming from LA where clubs rise and fall every six months like the changing of the seasons, you can't help but become a bit of a snob no matter where you go only because you have experienced so many fail. L'Arc is supposed to be THE club, trendy, elite, jet-set, but to me it doesn't give off that vibe on the interior. You might as well be in any club in LA, they are doing the same thing: letting hot girls in and keeping ALL guys out unless they have connections or they have bought a table before hand. Pros: What sells this club for me is that it is RIGHT next to the Arc de Triumph. Literally. Cons: No dance floor, difficult to get cabs late at night, no real point going unless someone in y our group has a table because otherwise there is no where to sit.
