I've been traveling home from the West Coast to the East Coast and found this hidden gem by the gas station (I say 'hidden' because I missed the turn several times; tired traveler brain). The salsa is fresh, and the aftertaste of cilantro is refreshing. The seafood? They brought it out fresh off the grill and the blend of spices makes it taste like true authentic Mexican food. Also, the staff is amazing; my waitress was kind. As for the setting of the place, it was calm and peaceful. If I travel through this part again, I am DEFINITELY coming back. read more

Let's get something straight first and for most; if you're going to charge $12 for Nachos can you use queso? They loaded this expensive, supposedly whole portion (which looked like the half...I promise it wasn't more than 10 chips on this plate) plate of nachos up with shredded cheese. Based on the few recommendations on this app, we were not expecting much, but were surprised to find the place hopping still at 2:00p.m. Huge menu, lots of choices of traditional Tex-Mex and American (burgers and kids menu) as well as seafood entrees. Only suggestion is to have a spicier salsa available on request, it was plentiful as is, but we like a bit of "atomic" blast to our salsa. Offered Plenty of chips, fresh and hot! My son works in this area and recommended this place to us when we were traveling through Louisiana on Interstate 20. We stopped in very early for dinner (around 4) and ordered fajitas. They were great!! Flavorful, well cooked with all of the normal accompanying items. The homemade guacamole is very good. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. Just stopped for dinner here while on a family road trip. What a pleasant surprise! Small (family run?) restaurant with good Mexican food. My chicken tortilla soup was amazing. More chicken stew with lots of breast meat and loaded with real vegetables. Healthiest meal in LA!! The guacamole was fresh, too. The coldest mug of beer I've ever been served. (I'm not the driver here.). Would highly recommend especially as an alternative to a chain on the highway. I'm only keeping to four stars due to some outdated decor. read more
