When I walked into La Fiesta I was not greeted at the door but realized quickly that the restaurant/bar was constantly being wiped down and that the staff was working hard to accommodate as many people and still follow the social distancing guidelines. When we were finally greeted the host was friendly, accommodating, and showed us to the usable tables. The staff was also friendly and attentive and we soon realized that their margaritas would definitely make this a fiesta. I'm glad I found this humble restaurant and will visit them again. The food was great and the service was even better. They brought out 2 baskets of chips and salsa which worked out very nicely for our table. We had some who enjoyed the mild salsa and some that appreciate a very spicy salsa, so i asked for the hotter sauce they make there to add to the mild and it was outstanding. Our drinks were kept filled and our plates came out hot and in a timely manner. We have been there many times and this was the first time someone at the table ordered a burger and fries, it looked very good and the person who ordered it said it was really good and they liked the bun. Let me start by saying that I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a child (I'm 30 years old now). My parents introduced my brother and I to this establishment and I introduced it my wife and my brother to his. I've never had any issues with staff or ownership in my countless of trips here besides once. It was a corn fest weekend in Mendota and the restaurant was busy. My father and I ordered the buffet (per usual) and my wife ordered off the menu. Unfortunately, there was a hair in her dish and informed the owner (with discretion). The owner proceeded to ask "where is the hair" as she put on her glasses like didn't believe us. My wife unfortunately lost her appetite and asked if it can be taken off the bill (the food wasn't touched). The owner granted our request and she went on her buisness. As I was finishing up with my plate from the buffet my wife took a scoop of hash browns (shouldn't have done that) and we got approached by the owner with a confrontational demeanor telling us "first you don't like the food now she's eating off your plate?" In a stern voice. My problem wasn't the owner telling me what I did couldn't be done but how it was said. If the owner would have came to my table and said it in a professional/polite way I wouldn't have any issue whatsoever. I told the owner to charge me the buffet price for my wife to deescalate the issue myself. As stated before I never had a single issue and maybe the owner was having a bad day. Will I go back? I have had the distinct pleasure of dining here a number of times over the past few years. I have never had a bad meal! When I brought guests along with me, they agreed that this restaurant was truly faithful to their Mexican heritage. Fortunately the menu also includes the usual American food items people might expect. My friends love the shrimp tacos and wax eloquent about the distinctly wonderful flavor these tacos have. It draws them back time and again for more tacos and other menu items. I appreciate the Sunday morning buffet and always find myself fully satisfied with the variety of breakfast items offered which include Mexican dishes as well as the usual American breakfast items. The service is always given with a smile and a person knows that they are appreciated customers. I commend the owners and staff of this restaurant for their fine work in every way. Since Sublette is such a tiny town, I was surprised to find a couple restaurants here. The outside looks nice but the interior was lacking. They had a buffet but we decided to order from the menu. I had the Tampico Trio and asked for no beans. When my order came, there were beans. The enchiladas were ok. The beef was the best, then the chicken. I did not care for the cheese one nor the rice. I order the giant steak burrito a lot and it's a must have. I don't eat a lot but la fiesta creates a black hole in my stomach and I keep eating. The food is always so good and is by far the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to and I live in Chicago. It's to the point where I look forward vacationing in wood haven just to eat at la fiesta. My only complaint is that I wish they were open more. I always forget and come in Monday when their closed. Best Mexican restaurant I've been too and I live in Chicago so that's pretty tuff competition!

The food was pretty good for around these parts. There aren't a ton of options around here and this one seemed to have the most reviews. I'm not sure about the reviews before about the inattentive waitstaff as our server (at some points 2 would come to the table) was just as sweet as pie and super attentive. We had the beef enchiladas and chicken flautas. Which were both good, however if I go back, I would request them in corn tortilla as they seem to assume flour as the preferred favorite, which might be true around here but either way they were both pretty tasty. If you like a little spice be sure to ask for the spicier tomatillo sauce. It's wonderful! Onto the fried Ice Cream which was HEAV-EN-LY. It had hints of coconut to it as well. I'd definitely come back when Im in town again and will recommend to our friends who just moved here. read more

We stop here often, and the food is good, traditional, Mexican faire in a small town of 550. I'm amazed that this restaurant is located in Sublette off of US 52 on Main Street. You'd never see it if you were driving down the highway, but if you get a chance to stop by, you won't be disappointed with the food. The service sometimes is less than desirable, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. If you get the owner of the restaurant, she will work hard to make sure that you get everything you need. I've found that the other servers don't put as much effort to serve their guests. I've found that I'll get a beverage and nothing more until the food is served and then no more beverage as the check is dropped off. Portions are great, and the food is wonderful. You'll find the best Mexican-based breakfasts anywhere in northern Illinois that is only served every Sunday but only on Saturdays during the summer. read more

Small town Mexican restaurant that is less than authentic. It's ok but not great. Margaritas are ok. I'm not that impressed here. They also have a lot of American food on their menu. The weekend buffets are awesome. The eggs and bacon are great, waffles biscuits and gravy but the best part is the menudo. We're from Chicago and have tried it at several different places but it really is amazing here. It's not funky and the tripe is perfectly tender. Been going there for years and no problems but since the covid 19 we did a carry out and picked up the food and when I reviewed my bank statement the waitress put a tip on the receipt for herself. I do not tip when im picking up an order and when I called to complain the owner said my waitresses won't do that and it was my handwriting. How does she know my handwriting. I disputed with my bank to get this corrected. Will never go back again and I advise everyone else to make sure you check your receipts and get a copy of your receipts. I've been here a couple of times before seeing as I only live 3 blocks away. The food has always been okay service is a little clumsy normally. But tonight took the cake. "taco Tuesday" I tend to avoid it ut today I was feeling like having some tacos. I arrived and was seated promptly as the rush crowd was dying down. The restaurant was as about half capacity. I noticed a few tables around me getting impatient for their food and hear the waitresses apologize for the wait. I thought to my self that's to be expected on a night like this. Well. I sat and waited patiently eating some chips and salsa waiting for a waitress to bring a menu and order my drink. Time passed. After waiting TWENTY minutes and not even seeing a menu or getting a drink I finally informed the manager about the situation and promptly left and walked a whole two minutes to another local place was seated with a drink and my order was in he kitchen within 5 minutes. read more
