We stopped in at La Fiesta after a long day of driving from Dallas, TX on our spring break roadtrip. We were greeted by friendly staff, a really prompt waitress, and the restaurant was clean & had great background music! We are spoiled with excellent Mexican food, living in Texas, and so I think that's a necessary disclaimer before I continue. The food arrived exactly as ordered, we chose the chicken & beef combo fajitas, corn tortillas, with the rice & bean side "for two". The food came to the table sizzling hot, and smelled wonderful! It was mild in flavor, and didn't have much spice. The menu cover clearly stated the food is mild, and for additional heat they provide hot sauce. So, I food was still as-expected. My only criticism is that the veggie to meat ratio was very off. There were a TON of bell peppers & onions, and not much meat. I was only able to make 2 tacos out of the meat on the platter, and the second taco had hardly any meat, mostly veggies & I added beans & rice to the mix just to have a full taco. Overall, I'd be happy to stop in at this restaurant again, and would try a different meal! The fajitas were good, just VERY mild in taste, and there was not enough meat on the platter. read more

Nice, bright and fun meal. Food was good...my wife had quesabirria and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not the best she has had, but still tasty. I had the Cancun platter and it was good- Admittedly we are spoiled with a couple of fabulous Mexican restaurants we frequent, and all others seem to fall short. Stopped by here on my way down to Wichita. Service was sub-par. Food was atrocious. Ordered their fish tacos. Disappointing. Looked like frozen tilapia that was nuked in a microwave and wrapped in a tortilla. Will not be returning here. read more

We were staying the night in town just passing through and the restaurant was right across the street from our hotel. We ordered the combo with beef soft taco and chicken burrito, side of queso and a side of their extra spicy salsa. We were VERY pleased! We got it to go, and hubs said the interior was quite clean, and they got the order right!! The queso was delicious , the side of spicy salsa was actually pretty dang spicy, and my burrito was delicious. Hubs soft taco was good, too! Though a large menu the options are typical Mexican selections, including the lunch combos. Pricing is excellent and the spot is good for any size party. I had a choice of ground or shredded beef (or chicken) for my chimichanga. The beef had a nice taste though the chimi seemed more tortilla than meat and was barely fried. Friendly and outgoing without being obnoxious. A little slow on refilling drinks but still very good. He got a good tip because of the service. Food: Typical Mexican restaurant menu. For starters, the staff and bartender was amazing. They exceeded expectations. The prices on the food and drinks is affordable. I really couldn't believe how cheap some of the drinks are and they were great cocktails. I also really loved the environment, very cute theme in the entire restaurant! I got a #1 vegetarian plate for lunch...This is where my experience went south. What was supposed to be my normal bean burrito, cheese enchilada, and tostada... was smothered in cheese. Why would I want my burrito and cheese enchilada smothered in cheese??? Why!???? I don't get it. Maybe it just isn't for me.. Another thing I would like to mention.. the flautas. What appeared to be fried tacos, was the flautas. They just were not rolled and fried correctly. I make flautas all the time, they really aren't that hard to master. Fajitas were not very hot when they arrived at the table. Generally they come out piping hot at other places. The waitress didn't know what was in each dish with regards to gluten, dairy etc... since there are a large portion of the population who have food allergies, that's not ok. The staff needs to know this and the kitchen needs to have separate cooking areas for the gluten free cross to avoid cross contamination. read more

Exceptional Mexican food and above-and-beyond customer service! My family decided to try La Fiesta on a road trip, and it was the best decision ever! The chicken molcajete was truly incredible--perfectly seasoned and full of chicken, peppers, onions, cheeses and tasty broth! My husband loved his steak chimichanga and sides. The kids also really enjoyed their quesadilla and tacos--everything was hot and well seasoned. Our waitress never let our glasses go empty or our chips and salsa run out :) The day after, we got a call from our local library, notifying us that the owner of the restaurant found my daughter's library book under the table and didn't want us to have to pay any fines for a lost book. When I called her, she refused to accept payment--just asked for our address and mailed the book back to Oklahoma! We can't wait until our next road trip takes us by McPherson--already know where we will be stopping to eat some more delicious food made by genuinely good people. read more

I have eaten here several times in the past before their remodel. Service has always been mediocre but the food has always been tasty. The last time we visited after the recent remodel, we were greeted promptly and taken to a booth, however the seat at the booth was covered with food. Before we could sit down we encountered resistance from the wait staff in getting the seat cleaned off, and when they did the left the seat so wet we could not sit down and we had to use our napkins to dry the seat off and had to ask for more napkins. Not a good way to start off. Our waitress came by and brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. She returned in a reasonable amount of time and took our order. Then things went from bad to worse. My meal was brought out and my wife's was not. Thinking it would be right up, I waited, and I waited, and I waited. I finally pushed my food to the edge of the table to get someones attention because our waitress was totally neglecting us. She eventually saw this and came by to inquire as to why I was not eating, and I responded that I wanted to eat with my wife, not in front of her. The waitress disappeared and returned in less than 3 minutes with her entree. The food was very tasty and it was hot and it looked good. A while after we finished our waitress came by and asked, for the first time, if I would like a refill of my empty water glass. I responded with a no thank you, we would just like a to go box and the check. We got a to go box. Paying and leaving was another story. The waitress never brought us a ticket so we went to the hostess and explained the situation, and you would have thought I was speaking in Russian. It took nearly 5 minutes to round up the waitress and let us pay the bill. Most definitely will not be going back to this establishment with the poor service, no matter how good the food may be. Did I mention the very long straight black hair I found in my food? I have short hair. Prices also got raised, must have been done to cover the cost of the remodel. Just saying. Be aware. read more

Have had a mixed experience with this place. In a small market, the restaurant doesn't have the need for quality customer service. My experience has been subpar at best. From getting the wrong drinks, wrong food, to waiting to be served over 30 minutes. Finally, spoke to one of the managers and shared my experiences. Stopped here driving from Denver to Houston. Wasn't expecting anything more than getting off the road to eat something. I ordered the Chili Verdes and it was terrific! Big chunks of pork loin smothered in a freshly made spicy tomatillo sauce. Not your typical greasy, flavorless or cheese smothered Mexican food. McPherson, KS - It may have been a mistake on my part to dine at a Mexican restaurant in Kansas, but the options in this town were extremely limited. Our server was very friendly, but never refilled our waters. That's always the the first strike for me. The food was edible, but low quality especially for the price. If the menu claims that the dish has crab in it, make sure it's actually crab in it and not imitation crab. For these prices the customer deserves the real thing. Also, the fake plastic cheese in the quesadilla is unacceptable! Use real cheese! I get so tired of food establishments cutting corners and ripping off their customers. 11-16-2019:We were looking for a fast but good Mexican food place to eat at. Eating with wife and adult kid. Food came out fast except for my wife's food and then it was not brought out right. My Beef Nachos came out and looked worse than canned dog food and the taste was not any better. The chicken in the other two meals was dried out and soggy for the burrito and quesadillas. The cheese used was like a watered down version of Mac-n-Cheese. Tried it and NEVER going back.
