I had always wanted to visit the brewery, but had to wait for a reason to be in McPherson on a Saturday! Eric R. and I talked about a day trip on a Sunday, but alas, Three Rings is not open on Sundays. Eric R. had the Storm the Castle bike race this past Saturday, so I agreed to join him in McPherson for the weekend so I could specifically go here! I first discovered Three Rings at Manhattan's Brew at the Zoo, which I went to every year until COVID. After that, it moved from August to later in the Fall and I am never here for it. I am not sure exactly when I first tried it, but my notes from the 2019 event show that Three Rings' Wanderlust was a favorite. I purchased cans of Wanderlust ever since, but there was a shortage in the past year and after going to six liquor stores, I had to get it in Lawrence an hour and a half away! I cannot remember when this was, but the owner and his dad came to lead an event at JP's in the K-State Union for beer and food pairings. It was so fun. Finally I get here and Eric R.'s race registration came with a free beer. The very awesome staff said we could do a flight of 5, but we wanted to try 6, and she was still cool with that! So we tried six beers: Fields of Gold (wheat), Yankee Rose (blonde), Wanderlust (red), Vertigo (IPA), Bulldog (oatmeal stout), and Acres Wild (farmhouse ale/saison). We loved talking with everyone at the bar, both next to us and behind the bar. We chatted with the owner/brewer, and another staff member who also has a creative writing background. Numerous people there were Texans like us, and we had a lot of area connections. A food truck outside was closing and brought us free fries, which was an unexpected bonus! We bought 3 6-packs: Wanderlust, Acres Wild, and Broadsword (dark Scotch ale). On the way out was an afternoon farmers market where we bought freshly picked green beans to make for dinner that night. This is a fantastic brewery. It's oasis in the middle of Kansas. The beers are good and they often have food trucks. I lived there laid back atmosphere. The workers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely worth the stop. read more

With TRB being a bit displaced from usual path of travel, you may not likely realize that it is worth a visit. My experience may be a bit skewed from the usual (All Schools Day...not from McPherson?...it's become a Holiday week to celebrate it's past). The TRB Team was helpful, humorous & hard working. The small batched craft beers ranged in diversity. Meanwhile, the eclectic customer base (some with their dogs) enjoyed the live music and food truck. Our go to stop every time we're in the area. It's hard to pick out a favorite beer when they are all excellent. Great atmosphere whether you are inside or out on the patio. The folks behind the bar make you feel at home. They usually have food trucks on the weekends and they do not disappoint. They are starting to have live music during the warmer months on the weekends as well. read more

Some really great beers brewed and sold here. You can only get growlers and squealers at the brewery but I understand that area restaurants and bars have Three Rings on tap. The Vertigo IPA is the perfect example of what an IPA should be, not an over the top California style but a brew with balance. The Misty Mountain pale ale is fantastic. Perfect blend of malt and hops, a little darker in color than most PA's. This is a top shelf pale ale. I look forward to trying more beers from Three Rings. read more

Three Rings Brewery is well worth the trip if you live in the Wichita area. It may come to a bit of a surprise for those used to the brewery scene in Wichita just because it isn't the sit and drink type of establishment. I looked this place up beforehand and knew what to expect so they aren't getting docked because of being surprised, I just think they would be able to cater to a broader selection of people if they offered a small fenced in patio to enjoy a beverage or two. The faculty here are very knowledgeable, helpful, and quick. If you're in town, live in town, or passing through, check out this place and pick up a growler or six pack! We made it a day trip to check them out and then head to the Fieldhouse for food afterwards and they also serve their beer on tap! read more

Very easy to pass by without even noticing it, but worth a stop. They had 6 beers on tap, I believe, however all you can do is purchase growlers or squealers. I understand that they are working on getting a seating area arranged so you can actually drink there. I wasn't fond of the beers, most were too dark for my taste, but my boyfriend did enjoy the samples of each beer. For me, their blonde was okay, but very very light for a blonde, maybe more of a pilsner. Also, they seemed to have a little bit of trouble with their carbonation, because 24 hours later when we cracked open the growler we bought, it had no foam at all, despite a good seal on the growler and being kept cold. Overall, this place was good to try and I can't wait to come back as they develop more beers and the set up. read more

McPherson is lucky to have Three Rings. The previous reviewer was obviously a bud light drinker. The ales crafted here are top notch and carbonation is appropriate to allow the malt and hop flavor to come through. Their beers are now on tap in central Kansas through a distributor.
