Thursday night it is very busy yet we are seated immediately and served warm fresh chips and salsa immediately. Regular margaritas (12 ounces) were strong and tasted great only $2.99 each. The chimicangas were fresh and tasted delicious. I would definitely recommend this place for great Mexican food.

Don't normally do this on a business trip, but I have to post a review because this was the best taco salad I have ever had. Since it was taco Tuesday, I decided to go to authentic Mexican restaurant. I went to La Fiesta Grande in Springfield. It was very busy for a Tuesday night, and I ordered a fajita taco salad with steak. I have to say, it was the best taco salad i have ever had . Most places make them way too big - too much food and too much lettuce (which is cheap) - this one was just the right size, served on a hot plate. Also, at a lot of places by the time I get the taco salad, the tortilla shell is soft and mushy. This one was crisp and just tasted really good. Not overstuffed with lettuce, plenty of steak, and really well grilled vegetables. finished the whole thing..,,

Butternut Squash ENCHILADAS??? Si Señor!! I would have never put those two together but they are muy bueno!!!! Try them out!!!

Fiesta steak (shrimp, mushroom topped) with beans and rice. Very fatty cut of meat. Not very good.

The waiter was fine, the portions were a good size. Chips and salsa tasted great. I ordered fiesta steak and it was incredibly fatty meat. As we were eating, staff started cleaning the floors and all we could smell and taste was pine cleaner. I complained about the steak as well as the stink, and the waiter just said "oh. Sorry." I don't think we will be back.

Favorite place for Mexican food in Springfield, IL. Not over priced like most in town. Service is always spot on.

We were seated promptly and got our drinks in a reasonable amount of time. The complimentary chips and salad appeared almost immediately. The chips were fresh and the salad was house made. Maybe a tad bland for my taste but my friend really enjoyed it. The beans and rice were your standard fare hut I really enjoyed the rice. My friend liked her enchilada and burrito with ground beef. I really liked the shrimp, which came with two soft taco. The shrimp were well cooked and the salsa based sauce was flavorful but not spicy. Overall the portion size was just the right size. Service could have been a bit more attentive, we had to wait a whole for our check but not big deal. You do pay at the counter, not the table. We paid $53 before taxes for two drinks and two dinners.

Our server was Oscar (aka "Whiskey" we found out later) who seemed to be in a huge hurry for us to order. We appreciate the efficiency of us being seated and given menus so quickly but after our drink orders he was there in like 10 seconds ready to take our food order even though we had just received the menu. We asked for more time and he came back again no joke in 60 seconds. Asked for more time and again was back in like 30 seconds. Sigh. As soon as our food came out he disappeared. Didn't check to see how our food was until we flagged him down for another round of drinks. He was friendly just seemed in a hurry. Other than that our experience was great. The place has a very authentic feel. The cheese dip is melty gooey goodness. I got shrimp timpico which was very good. Lots of shrimp in a spicy sauce. My friend got ground beef and queso as a meal. My brother got a quesadilla Del Mar. Everything came out very fast and hot. We loved this place and would come back for sure.

Despite the unexpected filling it was still good but I couldn't eat all of it. My wife's quesadilla was exactly what she expected and she said it was good. We got some chips and salsa as we waited. I'm pretty sure that the chips were house made since they were different from other kinds of tortilla chips I had. The salsa was good, but I definitely would've loved a little more spice to it. We got the Enchiladas Suizas and a Fajita Burrito. The burrito was pretty good, but if I were to go again I'd probably choose something different from the Enchiladas. Just was not for me. I did like how spicy they were though! One thing that also stood out was that much of the time when I go to Mexican restaurants, the portions are pretty big for the prices. The portions were definitely not tiny, but smaller than I would maybe expect for a Mexican restaurant for the price that we paid. I'm not sure if we would choose to go back in the future since it was a stop along the way for a trip for us, but it was not a bad stop. They do have a large parking lot out front which makes parking super easy and that is always a huge plus!

Authentic Mexican Flavors with a Beautiful Presentation!…read more This place serves some of the best Mexican food I've had in a while! I ordered the green enchiladas, and they were absolutely delicious--perfectly rolled tortillas filled with flavorful meat, smothered in a rich green sauce, and drizzled with crema and queso fresco. The refried beans were smooth and creamy, and the rice was fluffy with a great seasoning. The burrito was a showstopper! Stuffed with tender steak and grilled veggies, then topped with a creamy, slightly spicy sauce and fresh pico de gallo. The drizzle of crema and queso fresco gave it an extra layer of indulgence. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the portion size was very generous! Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Neither of us liked the chips and salsa...the chips were dry and the "salsa" tasted like tomato sauce that had a little hot sauce added to it. The atmosphere was tired and, on a day when it was 100-plus outside either the air conditioning couldn't keep up or, worse, hadn't been turned on at all.
