La Fiesta Grande - Fajita Taco Salad with Nachos - Mexican Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

Amazing food, over the top margheritas, fun atmosphere and wonderful servers /owners!!! Cant wait to go back!!!!

Pulled into the parking lot, it was full. Expected to wait a bit for a table but we (party of 3) were seated right away. The restaurant is so large you felt like you were the only ones in there. Our waiter came over right away to get our drinks and gave us a few mins to look over the menu. Chips and salsa brought out with our drinks. Chips were nice and crispy and salsa has a little kick to it. Love the restaurant style salsa. I ordered the tacos and it came with a side of beans and rice. Came with three tacos, I picked chicken. It was so much food I only eat one taco and some beans. The rice was ok, not my favorite thing at restaurants but I did try it. Not sure if they are short staffed because our waiter brought the bill before we even finished and was right there again when we placed our cards on the table. Almost like we were being rushed out but in a friendly way. read more

Absolute joke. We had scheduled a party here over a month in advance. Came in twice to confirm date and time prior to the party. The day of the party, no tables, no section. We were promised a certain area, they gave it away to another party. They offered no solution. We waited for over 1/2 an hour after our scheduled time to get seated. This was my sister's 50th bday and our schedule centered around a limo, time lost with that as well. Don't recommend. read more

Thursday night it is very busy yet we are seated immediately and served warm fresh chips and salsa immediately. Regular margaritas (12 ounces) were strong and tasted great only $2.99 each. The chimicangas were fresh and tasted delicious. I would definitely recommend this place for great Mexican food. read more

We ordered takeout from here for dinner. We were missing numerous items from our order. They definitely charged us for the missing items. This food is too expensive for La Fiesta to not get your order right. read more

Bumped up to 4 stars--I've been here several times since my last review, usually ordering the "Chicken & Cheese" dish (only place I've ever been to that calls it that) and it has always been good. Chicken has always been hot and properly cooked, salsa picosa is great as usual, and everything has come out fast and hot. read more

The rice at this restaurant is the best rice I have ever had in my life. It truly sooths my soul. I recommend this place hands down. 10/10 on all of the food I've ever had from here. Best nachos I've had in my life. read more

We've been going here for years. Service is impeccable. The food is always delicious! And the atmosphere is festive!

Don't normally do this on a business trip, but I have to post a review because this was the best taco salad I have ever had. Since it was taco Tuesday, I decided to go to authentic Mexican restaurant. I went to La Fiesta Grande in Springfield. It was very busy for a Tuesday night, and I ordered a fajita taco salad with steak. I have to say, it was the best taco salad i have ever had . Most places make them way too big - too much food and too much lettuce (which is cheap) - this one was just the right size, served on a hot plate. Also, at a lot of places by the time I get the taco salad, the tortilla shell is soft and mushy. This one was crisp and just tasted really good. Not overstuffed with lettuce, plenty of steak, and really well grilled vegetables. finished the whole thing..,, read more

La Fiesta Grande - a plate of food on a table - Mexican Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

Favorite place for Mexican food in Springfield, IL. Not over priced like most in town. Service is always spot on.

Just okay. Chips seemed like they were from a bag and just heated. Definitely not homemade. The food took what seemed like forever to arrive, approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Seemed like there were plenty of workers so not sure what took so long. Also, it's very noisy in there. Difficult to even carry in a conversation with those at your table. Probably won't be back. read more

Good food, fresh homemade Prompt service Nice friendly staff Margaritas are very good read more

You had me at $2 margaritas! My family was in town with me on a business trip and we gave this place a try as it was recommended by a friend and also it was very close to our hotel. It did not disappoint. The 3 of shared a bunch of things and the wife and I enjoyed their delicious margarita special. I love that they have a large outdoor patio. We were there on a perfect day and it was so nice to be able to enjoy the great weather. Our server was so friendly and she gave amazing recommendations. I would absolutely return to this restaurant should we return to Springfield. read more

This is a great place for lunch. I usually get the steak burrito with the rice and beans. The service is always excellent and their chips and salsa are very good. They are very quick in getting you your meal which helps when you're pressed for time. read more

The waiter was fine, the portions were a good size. Chips and salsa tasted great. I ordered fiesta steak and it was incredibly fatty meat. As we were eating, staff started cleaning the floors and all we could smell and taste was pine cleaner. I complained about the steak as well as the stink, and the waiter just said "oh. Sorry." I don't think we will be back. read more

La Fiesta Grande - Fiesta steak (shrimp, mushroom topped) with beans and rice. Very fatty cut of meat. Not very good. - Mexican Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

This has always been our go to restaurant for Mexican in Springfield. The food isn't amazing but consistent. Last night was our first really bad experience. I ordered a margarita with Tito's vodka which I have done there many times before. No vodka in the drink at all. Both my husband and I tasted it. The young waiter brought over another employee who lied to me and said he watched them put Tito's in my drink. I'm 65 and I think I know when my drink has zero alcohol. They ruined my birthday. Won't be back. read more

Food was delicious. Quick service especially for how busy they were at lunch time. Husband had the Chile Colorado. It taste great. Husband said it was nice and spicy like "someone's Abuelita fixed it." The tricolor enchiladas were delicious. Even the table salsa had great flavors. We can't wait to come back and try more of the menu read more

We were over charged on each item from the menu price. When we complained we were told the owner changed the prices and hadn't updated the menu so was nothing he could do. Also advertised on the door senior discount 10%. We asked for it, our waiter took our check back, came back and it was the same. Rip off!!! read more

Great spot for Mexican in Springfield. My favorite dish is the Vallarta Fajitas, but they have so many good options. If you're in town, check this place out. read more

Yelp doesn't allow zero stars. Margarita had neither tequila nor lime juice. Salsa tastes from a bottle. The worst is the speakers. Tried to sit on patio but my wife and I couldn't hear ourselves over the speaker. Moved to a hi-top in bar, but music was even louder. Not sure how that is possible. Asked bartender if volume could be lowered. Nope. If the owners of La fiesta ever convert to a dance club they won't have to invest in a sound system. read more

As an actual Hispanic from Houston texas, I gotta say I'm usually disappointed trying to find authentic Mexican restaurants in northern states. But this place is as close as it gets to authentic Mexican food. Good food, good vibe, micheladas made right with chamoy in the rim. I'll be back if I'm ever in the area again. From one Hispanic to another, cheers. read more

I was curious whether I could get a good Mexican meal in Springfield. After all, you can get very good Mexican food in Chicago, which is only three hours away. After checking the internet, I realized that the pickings were slim. I picked La Fiesta because it had a good number of positive reviews on Yelp, and apparently few bad ones. I arrived on a Saturday night and the place was very busy and rushed. The staff was running around like crazy. I ordered the chicken with mole sauce, which is usually one of my favorite dishes. My wife ordered a vegetarian fajitas, which I already thought was a mistake. What I received was a grilled chicken fillet lightly drizzled with a very thin and uninteresting sauce. My wife got a lot of food, but the grilled vegetables were tasteless. The rice and beans were OK, and the margaritas were large, potent and reasonably priced. Although we didn't order the usual burritos, tacos, etc. that might have been most peoples choice, I did leave with the the feeling that this was another Mexican restaurant that tries excessively to appeal to "American" tastes. A disappointment. read more

Service was just fine, nothing positive or negative either way. Went in on Sunday but there brunch buffet was getting ready to close otherwise we would have tried it out. Tacos were good, enchilada was average, salsa was nothing to write home about and chips were really warm but seemed a little stale. read more

Went this past Friday night. Very busy - still got seated right away. Service was fine - friendly all around. Chips and salsa are good - but I like spicy salsa and theirs is mild - still tastes good tho. I ordered fajitas. Pan was not sizzling like many other places and beans and rice were already cold by the time they got to the table. Our waiter did not bring the food but did check up on us and they forget the tortilla chips and sauce. read more

The food was good but too many people were involved with my experience, I had 5 people managing my order at the bar and I was the only one there. Of course the order was wrong when it comes out by not the person who took the order, so their 10 minute or its free lunch just went out the window. So anyway, after that I go to the washroom and come back and my large Margarita is gone, so they pour me a small one and everyone disappears, not very organized and not very reasonable. 3 1/2 margaritas and a 7.99 lunch, which should have been comped , there advertising not mine, $39. read more

Friendly staff. About the only plus about the place. Authentic Mexican food is among my top favorite foods. I got Tacos de Carne Asada. It came with beans that appeared, smelled, and tasted like it was out of a can. I'm not saying it was from a can-- I don't know that for sure, but it was definitely my first thought when I looked at it, then smelled it, and even when I tasted it. Corn tortillas smelled kinda weird. Carne asada was okay. Salsa also seemed like it was out of a can with fresh onion and cilantro added. Overall, not into it.. La Fiesta is absolutely among the lowest tier of Mexican restaurants I've tried. read more

The best thing about LaFiesta is definately their salsa....WOW, this stuff is remarkable! Our waiter was very friendly, and prompt. Kept the drinks full...etc.. I've been to this restaurant a few times now, and other than the salsa, their main dishes are just average. This day we went for a friends birthday at lunch. Normally a Mexican restaurant is more than speedy at lunch. On this day we waited approx. 15 minutes after he took our order for our food. When it arrived - the 2 girls had the lunch chicken fajitas, they both said they were very good. I had the combination, 1 taco, enchilada, & rice. Just OK. I would order what they had or something else. I would not seek this place out, but if the group I went with were going, I could find something edible on the menu. read more

Best authentic Mexican food in town! I'm not from Springfield, but I visit often- I've searched for many other Mexican restaurants and nothing compares to La Fiesta! My mom and I had came down for a meeting in Springfield from Wichita, Kansas and wanted Authentic Mexican food and they La Fiesta served it. We both said we hadn't ate good food like this in a long time. The meat has season to it.....yesss. Portions are great. Thank you. We will be back read more

Yelp needs to fix this! There are negative reviews of La Fiesta from before it closed down due to an ICE raid. It was not very good at that time! A former waiter now owns it and two other restaurants and the food and service is phenomenal. The name was changed from La Fiesta to La Fiesta Grande. Maybe if the reviews prior to June 2017 were removed, people would get a better idea of what this place is like. It is not the same restaurant, it is not the same ownership and the employees are not the same! Give it a try. Best Mexican fare in Springfield! read more
