I had a wonderful evening at La Farfalia!
It was one of those late night, meet up with friends after the show: "where shall we go to eat?"
"I don't care! I'm so hungry let's just go somewhere close!"
"I know a place! Follow me."
"Hey it's closed!"
"But Yelp says it's open!"
"That's the way it is in August in Madrid."
"Ok. I know another place."
"Can't we just go to that Chinese place right there?"
"No. That place is no good."
"Follow me!"
"This is so far."
"How long are we going to be walking."
"I'm SO hungry."
"What is this place called?"
"La Farfalla."
"That's Italian for Butterfly."
"That's right."
"The George Clooney character's girlfriend in The American calls him Senor Farfalla."
"Oh... That's right..."
... kind of summer evenings in Madrid.
Once we got there it was like one of those happy scenes in a Fellini movie. Food and wine coming from all directions feeding into a big table full of conversations.
Good sausage. Good pizza. Good steaks. Good salads. Good wine. Good beer.
Worth the wait. Worth the walk. read more
