If you're dining with a friend, or even a group of friends, head to Pajarita in the neighborhood of Malasaña, where the international fusion cuisine is perfect for sharing. Great food in a welcoming, comfortably modern space with music and cocktails, Pajarita's restaurant design is amazing.
The tables come complete with chopsticks for the adventurous diner. I met my friend for dinner and we found ourselves cozied up at a table for two, with the natural wood tones with the black accents make the restaurant feel contemporary and charming. Our waiter was great, and very knowledgeable about the menu. She went above and beyond, and the whole service was exceptional.
Since each dish is great for sharing, we just ordered a variety of tapas-like delicacies. I loved the sautéed curry shrimp and shrimp on a bed of creamy avocado sauce. The light avocado paired with the spicy curry was a great combination.
She chose as her favorite pork bao with crushed apples and aioli of dried chilis, because the meat was tender and flavorful, and the apples and Chile aioli were a unique mixture of flavors that really worked.
We also tried slow cooked lamb tongue with prawn cracker in a sweet sabayon cream, and the lamb was so succulent it melted in your mouth. Another favorite was The Pulparepa - sliced octopus with a mille-feuille of paprika spiced potato in a squid ink arepa. This is a dish that you won't find anywhere else, and for good reason. Pajarita does it right, there's no point to trying to seek it elsewhere. Our final trial was Sliced veal picanha with pomegranate, which gave the right balance of acidic and bitterness with sweet and tangy.
For dessert, we shared a decadent Black chocolate mousse with Light cocoa sponge cake and hazelnut, which was to die for! Highly recommend! read more
