My husband who is the biggest steak snob, thinks this is one of the best steaks. Prepared to perfection with every temperature available- the waitress doesn't ask how you would like it prepared, but gives you the steak on a warm plate and there you can select the piece that best suits you. I am a big corn ingredient lover and think the polenta is just divine. It's a must must try ( I wish I can take it home). The ambiance is causal with picturesque views of Lago De Como makes this my top choice of eateries in Como.

Best steak I've probably had in my life. And it cost a whole €22.

The view is breathtaking and the food is even more breathtaking. Wow, I am in love with this place? Great wine selection as well.

Off the beaten path but worth the taxi. If you're staying anywhere near tremezzo or even if you have to travel for it, this place is so worth it. It's a cute little farmhouse set up in the hill/mountains in Tremezzo and then once you get to the patio you see why it's worth it. The views are insane. The staff and owners are charming and want you to have a great experience. They recommended the rabbit, which sounds weird but it was phenomenal. We got the meat skewers as well and anything off their grill was fantastic. The potatoes that come with that and the florentine steak are absolutely melt in your mouth and have a great taste of rosemary. Wine and food are all extremely reasonably priced for the quality and the views. Ended up being about $60 a person with an entree for each, 5 bottles of wine for 7 people, and some starters and deserts. They even let us stay about an hour after they'd closed! Will definitely be back!

The rabbit. Very good if you are in the mood for rabbit.

An excellent meal in a cozy restaurant with top-notch service. Last night I had the mixed salad which was unfortunately shredded. Next was lake fish in butter with grilled vegetables- the fish was very good and the vegetables very fresh, but could have used a little more seasoning. May main was the rabbit- very good and I'm glad I tried it, but not something I will crave. Desert was an asparagus cheesecake, an interesting take I truly enjoyed. A solid meal with great service in a cozy restaurant.

if in Milan, you must plan to visit the lakes district too. ideally for a few weeks, in one of 16th-19th century Palladian villas that rings the shore of Lago de Como. or at the very least a day trip. it's only 90 minutes by car and by train an hour away. picture forested alps, deep blue harbor, bobbing boats, cypress groves, luxe resorts, cobbled villages. then eat at La Fagurida, a small tratorria in a hamlet lost in the hills above Como. ask for a table under a loggia with an awesome view of the lake and feast on conoglio arrosto (herb-roasted rabbit), polenta uncia (cooked in cheese, butter, garlic, sage), castagnaccio (chestnut cake) and a bottle of Barbera. a humble country meal more memorable than at a spendy tourist restaurant.

Fabulous restaurant high above the lake but walkable (90 flights of stairs equivalent!) from Tremazzo. The owners were very gracious and friendly. Lunch was a lovely homemade antipasto plate of beans, salami, speck, fig, grilled peppers and fish. Main dish of roast rabbit had been mentioned in NYT article about Lake Como from 2006. Best rabbit I've ever had. Dessert was a wonderful tiramisu and espresso. What a gem!

Rabit ragu with tagliotelli and butter fish with a side of grilled veggies and the house white wine.

Impeccable and friendly service with a true chefs tasting menu, be sure to make a reservation as the restaurant is small. Choose from a 1, 2 or 3 course meal, with dessert being additional, we came here twice and all menu items were amazing. The ravioli with stracchino, black truffle, mountain butter and parmagiano reggiano was my favorite. Mom loved the risotto with roasted onion semi dried tomato and basil. Interesting items such as the Catfish appetizer and complimentary seasoned herbed ricotta on a rice chip had interesting and unexpected flavors. Truly, don't miss this one.

Named after the…read morerectanglar sails of the Lake's fishing boats from a bygone era, Al Veluu would be worth a visit even if there was no panoramic view. The kitchen exhibits that ability peculiar to great Italian cooking of transforming good fresh ingredients in relatively simple recipes into exquisite dishes. We dined there twice recently, a dinner and a lunch. Both were extraordinary experiences. Two risotoo dishes in particular stand out : a porchini risotto and risotto Milanese with its saffon infusion; both were about as good as I have tasted anywhere. Pasta dishes and a preparation of a local lake fish were also perfectly seasoned and tasty. And both of the local wines that was recommended turned out to be delicious and well-matched to our dishes. But what elevates this epicurian experience above and beyond is the restuarant's location and thus its spendid vistas. Dining on the patio one sits high on a hilltop overlooking the lake, affording the diner with a majestic panorama. The candlelit table, the exquisite food, the wonderful wine and the splendor of Lake Como all around; as a romantic experience, it would be hard to beat. Getting to the restaurant, you should be aware, will generally require a car or a taxi. For our lunch we did walk up the hill. Walking takes around 20 minutes and the walk is up some moderately steep roads that are not pedestrian-friendly, so it would not be adviseable to walk it at night.

One of the best parts of this place is it's view. Make sure you see it with some daylight because it was pitch dark by the time we got there. Also, if you are going there for dinner think how you are coming down to Tremmezo again if you are staying along the coast. It was raining when we wanted to leave and we had walked/hiked there so there was only one way to leave. A Taxi. This was ridiculously expensive. We paid 25 euros for a 5-10 mins ride. Ridiculous! The restaraunt itself is rustic and the staff is friendly. The food is very yummy. I had the best prosciutto I have ever had and very good bufala mozzarella. One if us at the tomatoe sauce pasta and the other the pork loin stuffed with herbs and cheese. Yuuumy!!!! We were really full after our dinner and unfortunately did not go for dessert. The ambience is rustic and they had a fire going in their fireplace. The restaraunt is small and doesn't sit that many people. We were surprised that even tho there weren't too many people the service was relatively slow. Lastly, this restaurant is expensive. Portions are small for their price. But it's a really nice experience.

Just barely beating the rush, we were given a lovely table inside and could enjoy the artsy decor--loved the flat wine bottle art, just wish it wasn't so expensive. 60 euros with the current exchange rate is a bit much especially that I was wary of being able to get it home safely! My mom went with the minestrone and she raved about it the rest of the trip! I dipped some of my bread in it and agree that it was quite good and that's not normally a soup I care for. The rest of us somehow all got lasagna and most of us enjoyed it, though one of the group found it too "creamy." I would agree that I do like a bit more mozzarella on my lasagna, but that could also be an American thing and not "authentic." Really the only negative here was having to go all the way downstairs to pay my bill. The restaurant isn't very big yet it was not the easiest journey and the wait down there was a bit long. Otherwise a great experience!
