No one prospers while they are here. Almost NO physical therapy, they over drug the patients, giving pain medication when it is NOT indicated, over 20% of the patients have bedsores, and they will put them in hospice WITHOUT family consent to make things easier and do not notify the family of their condition once they become ill. They do not care about the safety of the patients nor the safety of the family members when the patient is discharge. Your love one can have covid or CRE and they will still discharge them to the family. The case worker named Terry has anger problems and doesn't have any sympathy or understanding. Do not put your loved ones at this place. My grandma was beaten, ended up in hospice and passed away within a week. They didn't explain what happened to her. She had a black eye, had a head injury and her esophagus was dislocated. She had a broken collarbone and had a neck brace while covered in bruises. My grandma had dementia but due to the injuries she suffered she was in a coma and was not able to speak for herself. We never got a report or any mention of what happened to her at this location. We got a call from the hospital she was taken to NOT La Estancia. They do not follow protocols and they do not care about the residents at this place. They need to be shut down! read more

Disgusting-they do not care about the welfare of their residents. Relative developed bed sores and they ignored it until it became a serious issue. Bottom line-they get fed, changed if needed and handed their meds- that is all you can expect from this place. Once the patient needs real nursing, even for a minor issue, they shove hospice at you and if you agree they will not communicate your loved one's condition anymore or assist, even if hospice demands it-they're off the hook as far as they are concerned. Reckless disregard for the resident's welfare. Nothing "skilled" about this place. Nurses stand around and gossip and whine about the demands of the job and make disparaging remarks about the residents they can hear (i.e. Gwen, Mandy, to name a few)-bad attitudes. Do not believe the google reviews, if you read them it's clear they are having someone pad fake reviews within the past couple months. Please do not send a loved one to this facility. The Medicare rating alone should have been enough to warn us off, but trying to keep my father close to loved ones for frequent visits seemed like a good idea initially since most facilities are clustered near the hospitals making it hard for my mother to visit my father. We figured visiting multiple times a day should reduce the likelihood of poor care, BIG MISTAKE! The admissions director Lacey makes a good sell, and many promises about how care will be handled, however it is very much bait and switch tactics. If you attempt to approach management about her claims vs reality, she will not back her original word and will literally go mute in front of the facility director when called out for deceptiveness. They both know her only job is to over promise to get patients in the door. If you have a problem please know that talking to the director will result in nothing. He is very much hands off and seems far more concerned with making appearances for the sake of PR. Always impeccably dressed, he is abysmal, uncaring, and should be working as a retail manager rather than in healthcare. He will threaten to turn your loved one out of you are trying to advocate on their behalf. I've discovered the nursing staff has very high turnover, as well as high turnover for nursing director. Not a good sign! The facility is horribly understaffed in nursing. I can attest they are running far fewer staff than required on any given night and over weekends and holidays. One of the RN's repeatedly kept skipping medication that was prescribed for my dad, and his medications would run anywhere from 2-5 hours late, with the next dose sometimes coming without adequate time in between. Due to his current condition he is incontinent, and in just two weeks he'd sat soaking wet on many occasions, with his door shut and the room reeling of urine. On one occasion I had helped him change the night prior using an incontinence brief brought from home, the following day 12 hours later I found him soaking wet in soaked bedding still wearing the brief I had put on him the night prior. Filthy urine soaked bed linens were piled up behind his door "forgotten" twice. The excuse I was given for all of this is that he got overlooked during shift changes, or that there were not enough CNA's to assist. The therapy room is very small and always overcrowded. He was denied therapy several times due to staffing problems. My father is on a diabetic diet, but the kitchen seems unwilling to accommodate that. Starch and carbohydrates are cheap, so keeping his blood sugar in check with diet along with medication never happened because every meal was high carbohydrate. Tried resolving this with the director, who had me meet with the kitchen person more than once, to no avail. One of the nurses actually recommended he go on injectables instead because it would be "easier" for them. Really?? My father began to deteriorate over the last 3 days of his stay, and both nursing and therapy gave up on him. They claimed the physician came in to check up, but I highly doubt it. One of the staff pulled me aside and said the doctor never entered the facility let alone the room on that occasion, and it was a phone consultation only. As it turns out my dad left the facility with a substantial urinary tract infection as well as a skin infection diagnosed at the Banner emergency department. La Estancia missed both! To top this all off we had brought several sets of athletic attire for him to be dressed in daily to keep his routine. Assisting him in dressing ended after day 3, and despite our instructions that family would do laundry, his clothing was removed from the room, and the name brand athletic wear simply disappeared never to turn up again. We had also brought a blanket from home which we were told was soiled and needed laundered so the facility had washed it. Tried to locate it for 2 days with the facility's help, the person in charge of laundry found it being used by another resident at the other end of the facility! Do not send a loved one to La Estancia. read more

My husband is currently here for rehabilitation. The only positive is he has a private room. That is where is starts. When you walk in there is an order. I have been in other facilities and this shouldn't be how it smells. I had to bring towels from home for him to wash with. He has only been taken to the shower one tune in 9 days. My mother stayed there in the beginning of December 20q9 She was there for only 1 week I but can promise you she received the most caring attention there. My mom was 91 years old but the staff still could see her beauty. They honestly cared about her. Never once did she feel any discomfort. This facility egregious acts has allowed my sister to get enormous painful open wounds on her back, buttock, and the heels of her feet. She's been left lying in her own waste / urine for hours... Refusing to sit her up in a chair, never taken outside to breathe fresh air and get sunlight because she can't walk. Atrociously over medicating my sister like a zombie after the family addressed the atrocious acts of "Abuse / Neglect after leaving her wet from neck to feet for hours after calling for assistance. Extremely long wait before nurses to respond. No Occupational therapy because she has to be hoisted up with 2 staff, but this is not a reason not to give her good care. I have just learned of the grievous neglect at this facility of my great uncle. I don't have the photos but understand photos were take of piled clothing, opened nutrition drinks sitting on the same table as used gauze and needles. The patient was immediately removed, 911 called and taken to the ER where he was found to be very dehydrated, bruised, hungry and with low blood sugar. This place is more concerned with their bottom line than they are about the care they are providing...even the staff I spoke with echoed my beliefs. Completely understaffed, smelly, and subpar. My mom had to wait over 40 minutes for someone to help her use the restroom and was unable to walk....another time, they left her in the restroom for 30 minutes after she called for a nurse until my brother happened to stop by to visit & helped her back to bed. They discharged her without any instructions and as a result she ended back in the emergency room within a week. When i went to get information about her stay, they couldn't help me because she was no longer a patient - yet when i called her case manager (4x) when she was one, no one ever returned my calls. They wouldn't give us an estimate of when she would go home, but as soon as they found out that her insurance was running out - they were very quick to discharge her - again, without notifying anyone. She was a diabetic that never recieved a diabetic meal - she even got 2 slices of cake and juice one meal. The only reason they got the second star was because there were a couple of folks that were great - the rest just didn't care or were too extended. read more

My stay was ok to good, it seems the staff is overworked due lack of nursing staff which causes at times for your medication to be delayed in getting to you. What helped me was I always asked if the medicine I was given was what the doctor ordered and was the instructions as far as when and the amount was correct. But for most part the nurses try to do their best and it shows in their caring matter but you occasionally get one that might be having a bad day. My family was always their to check on my care so that helped in the over all care that I received so that being said I would recommend this place. read more

If you don't want to read my whole story, just know this, if you're family member cannot advocate for themselves, or are helpless, DO NOT leave them alone. There are people there that are abusive, and should never be allowed near the elderly. There are good people, they are mentioned in my post, but very few. And know this, don't be fooled by Gil, he is a liar to no end. It will be a year this Saturday since my dad passed. It has taken me this long to write this review. He had fallen and broken his femur. They found blood cancer at that time. Not only was my dad helpless, but the cancer wore him down. I never wanted any part of that place again, after my mom's stay there. Unfortunately, we tried another place, but they could not handle my dad's other needs. My sister and mom went and met with Gil. He insisted they were under new management, dad would get a private room, as we were not leaving him alone, and made it sound great. The first night they plopped him in a back room with someone who I believe was long term. His med list was all messed up, and they would not give him pain meds. He was diabetic, no food. I had to search for a urinal. They wanted him in diapers. He did not need that. I had to ask for a bed rail. My mom said something to the nurse Jennifer, and was told if we didn't like it to take him somewhere else. OF course it was late, that's when they bring in patients, so nobody sees how they are treated. I told mom to go, I would stay. I was then pulled out of the room, and asked if I was only upset because he wasn't in a private room. I told that nurse Everything and insisted his meds were wrong, and I knew she could call a doc. To get him pain meds. I was told I was not allowed to stay because it was a double room. I told her I was not leaving. My dad was helpless and they were not helping. During this time, they SNUCK a diaper on. I took it off. I sat all night listening to the horrors of that place, praying morning would come. Gil got in, and I know by then I was hysterical, my sister finally came, I headed to work and quit. Knowing full well he could not be left alone. Changes were made he was moved, meds were straightened out. But, the horrors did not end. I will say, the male nurses, JD especially we're the greatest and we felt better having him on weekends. Some CNAs were also great, I'm sorry to them, who I can't remember names. But dad was afraid. I spent the nights. That is when the truth showed. I heard CNAs yelling at patients for soiling themselves, overheard way too much gossip, when patients lights were on. Heard patients screaming for help, being ignored. It was a nightmare. I would walk out a few times, to get some air. In the beginning of course they didn't want us there. But I always tried to help when I could. Changed his sheets, took care of bathroom needs, whatever I could. But if they didn't know I was around, I heard such abusive language to people that could not defend themselves. Jennifer the nurse needs to get a new job. Was pissed if we ever asked what his blood sugars were, wouldn't tell us the meds he was getting. Ignored request for pain meds until it was uncontrollable. We dreaded those nights. Even some CNAs...one girl didn't realize I was awake when my dad pushed the button. I heard her say "what do you want" in such a mean way. The head nurse was worse. My father got a bed sore on his leg...he was ignored by doc, as he was told Dad had been discharged. Dad went 3 weeks without a doc looking at it. I went to head nurse she opened the bandage and said..doesn't that look better to you?!? No, it was a gapping hole. I asked that the doc be called back. He refused. Dr. Beniger was the worst, hardly checking in on dad. Each nurse would treat it different, no improvement. My dad tried so hard at pt, but blood cancer lowers hemoglobin so he could not make progress on his leg. In comes the case manager with a salesman from sage Hospice, another place to avoid!!! He made promised after promise, and got mom and dad to agree to get pallative care with them. The case manager kept insisting that Hospice of the Valley was the worst. I later found out Sage is for profit, and kickbacks go on. The front desk lady was wonderful, so was the kitchen staff, and maintence. But my dad went over a week without even a sponge bath (we did our best) and was often forgotten. We finally took him home. They said we needed 24 hour care. No he just needed care. I actually got him up walking better, and wound healed. But the cancer took him in the end. I know this is long, but important, if your family member cannot advocate for themselves DO NOT, leave them alone for long. They are understaffed, and overworked. But somehow the good ones are able to do their job well, but they are few and far between. My heart broke so many times witnessing the abuse of the ones that could not take care of themselves. Please, I beg you..stand up for your family's rights if you have to send them there. read more

This is the second time my mother is at La Estancia. The first time was for a knee replacement a few years ago and now was for physical training. I would give this establishment 10 stars if I could, but 5 is the max. All the staff are exceptional, respectful, professional, courteous and above all care for you and your family member. I always evaluate a place by asking myself if I would be Ok to be there myself! And the answer is YES for La Estancia! Go visit the place and see how friendly and nice the staff is for your self! My husband died here in 2016 after a week in their horrific care! He was only 63 and was sent after hip replacement surgery to get rehab for a few days. They "forgot" to let him shower... forgot his pain pills and therapeutic stockings... gave him all his diabetic meds all at one time in the mornings. Workouts consisted of 30 minutes arm exercises and doing puzzles! After hip surgery you need to WALK! He got weaker by the day and when he got a fever and a bright red hot spot in his leg (sign of a blood clot) I wanted to rush him to the hospital! They assured me they had it under control... he was dead the next day. They took no responsibility - and no lawyer would take my case when they heard it was La Estancia! Two years later they claimed bankruptcy and changed their name because of too many lawsuits! Apparently that's their M.O.! I should have gotten him out of there after the first night, when I heard screaming and all the buzzers going off... only to find the nurses huddled in the break room gossiping! I blame them for his death, and blame myself for not getting him out of there! read more

So sorry to say that your residents and staff can suffer less during the pandemic by hiring temp staff so families can be updated on their health and not further isolated by being withheld the ability to talk to a family member by phone because they need assistance. The people answering the phone (with ONE exception) are uncaring, have hung up, mumbled grumpily, transfer without saying what they're doing and know they're transferring to a station where no one will answer the phone day or night. My Genesis HealthCare Your social worker's VM says not to bother leaving a message and to send an email instead, which also remain unanswered. All of this leaving me to wonder what is going on behind the scenes that people don't see? Compassion fatigue? read more

My wife was a patient here in May and June this year. Her room was small and crowded and had a depressing view of the back lot behind a shopping center. As many others before had stated they are understaffed and frequently there was a 30+ minute wait for them to be answered. The RNs during the week as well as on the weekends were very nice and competent and very helpful. The hospitalist was a lovely MD, caring and available about 3 -4 times a week. The environment is a bit dreary and the food was in my wife's opinion 2 stars. PT and OT was disorganized and frequently not strictly adhered to by patients and staff. Transportation to doctor appointments was in an old van, on her back on a gurney, quite uncomfortable with no available seating for the patient. They returned an hour later than they promised keeping the doctors office from closing as she was their last patient. The rooms and facility were kept fairly clean. Not a terrible place, but not a place I would recommend. read more

After discharge from the hospital it was decided that Dad wanted rehabilitation so we admitted him to LaEstancia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. We checked reviews and toured a few different facilities which had helped to make our decision. From the administration (who treated the whole person not just the numbers), admissions (who visited us in the hospital even before any decisions were made), nurses (who I hope know just how much they can make someone's day), to the nursing assistants (who were overworked but found a way to be there for the patients and treat them with dignity and respect) They had many directors that would come and assist in adding to the treatment plans which was nice organization. If one asked about food the food was changed if needed. If therapy was an issue then the therapy was adjusted as well. Thank you LaEstancia for the assistance when needed! read more

This place is an abomination. I have been a resident here for over a month, trying to get a shower here is pretty much impossible, even though I request them on the two days a week they decide to shower us. I have had 2 showers and 1 bed bath since my check in. The occupational therapy is pretty much a joke. They don't teach you anything on how to do for yourself outside of the hospital, they simply show you mediocre exercises you can YouTube or Google and ignore you. So basically they are stealing from insurance by saying they are doing therapy when you could do the same things in your room and not wasting your insurances money on hokey exercises designed to cheat insurances. They won't contact your physician no matter how many times you tell them to. I checked in and told them of an appointment 3 weeks out and the day before the appointment after asking numerous times for X-rays for the appointment they said they knew nothing of the appointment and scrambled trying to get X-rays and transportation set up. When I got to my appointment they forgot to send my X-rays with me! I called the hospital and spoke to the Director of Nursing Tonya Hampton and she said they just wanted the finalized report not the X-rays... As the doctor is asking me at the appointment for the much needed X-rays. If you need pain meds or just your call light answered be prepared to wait anywhere from 45 minutes and up while the nurses congregate around the nursing station ignoring the lights and buzzing sounds informing them of patients in need. I even asked them if they were going to get the buzzing noises or blinking lights only to get the response if "someone is down there, they will get to it." They also run out of your medication on occasion only to tell you tough they will get it in later. The nurses here do not understand HIPAA (patients personal information and treatment disclosure basically) and when they get upset they talk about you and your treatment to patients. I got this first hand when Dorothy told me about a lazy patient with pnuemonia at the end if my hall. When you inform the Director of Nursing or Director of the hospital they don't do anything about the nurses but they will try to discharge you even before your insurance runs out by saying therapy can longer help your condition. They do move a little when you say you will contact outside services and corporate... Once again after they will try to discharge you. This is even when you are in a wheelchair with nobody to help at home with care or treatment and they never trained you in therapy to be prepared to leave. (Yes even though your insurance paid then $45 every 15 minutes if therapy). So if you want subpar treatment from a center that only looks at you as a paycheck then this is the place for you. (Even the nurses here talk about how your only a paycheck... And how they are totally understaffed because Tonya got rid of employees (shower aid... Remember 2 showers one bed bath 4 weeks with therapy 6 times a week) and never supplied them with the promised extra aid so they are running back and forth trying to pick up the slack from other nurses who don't want to work). The Director is 29 years old and has no clue what he is doing in my opinion. The Director of Nursing is just as bad. Hopefully you read this and do not make the mistake a lot of us patients did by coming to this hell hole run by incompetent leadership. To say I hate La Estancia with all my heart and soul would pale in comparison to how I really feel. I'm guessing the review from Carol K is fabricated by a family friend of the staff. Everyone I talk to here have nothing nice to say about this place. Also things tend to come up missing here... From food that only the staff has access to, along with a sweatshirt taken out of my room. Things here seem to grow legs. read more

It's a shame I even have to give it a star! It's been 10 months since my mother was there. I can't say all the nurses were horrible but two of them were awful! I was changing my mother's diapers and giving her, her pain meds. Two of the days the nurse never even came in to check on her not even one time! I would never let a loved one go to this place ever again! You would think that with this being a Nursing facility the Nurses would want to do their job and have compassion for their patients. My daughter is a Certified Nursing Assistant and makes sure to inform her patients in the Hospital to attend any other nursing facility given on their list of recommendations rather than La Estancia. It depends on who you get to care for your loved one, but overall the care was pitiful. They left soiled clothes on the tables and chairs in the patient's room. They lost items of clothing and put my dad in too small women's clothes. His clothes would go to the laundry and never get returned. If you asked them for help, they'd disappear and never come back. I would've liked to give a better review, but if you have another choice, try somewhere else. read more

When my son arrived here approximately 3 months ago he came in pretty close to death i his opinion neglect and abuse from prior group homes. We heard about this place from his case worker. I met with them we discussed his needs he is an adult with cerebral palsy he is also nonverbal quadriplegic. He came in here on feeding tubes because of improper care. Within these three months he has gained almost 15 pounds, with doctors nurses and therapist on staff 24/7 his health has never been better! I am so happy that we found this place and his care continues to get better. My son sets goals and continues to reach them because of the help with the staff here. I recommend this place 100%. read more

Please don't send anyone you love here, the level of care my mother received was horrible, dramatically impacted her health and she died within 2 weeks after we moved her. My mother was a resident of La Estancia nursing home for 3 months in 2016. During the time she was there, she: 1) Was basically starved and lost 38 pounds (from 147 to 109lbs) while not exercising. I was never notified of the problem and was finally told that they considered this to be weight loss within their acceptable range. 2) Had surgical staples from an accident left in her scalp for 3 months as an "oversight" even though they were supposed to be bathing her a minimum of twice per week. I was told that they had high turnover in their staff which is probably why it was never reported. The caregivers for her group home found/reported it to us on her first day. 3) Suffered from a series of Urinary Tract Infections during her stay the complications of which ended up killing her. When were took her to the hospital, we were told that she required surgery to fix the problem but that she was too weak to survive it. The care givers at the group home we moved her to detected the issue on her first day. 4) There was a report from one of my mom's room mates of a care-giver "slapping" my mother. I was told by the director that the woman making the report wasn't credible and shouldn't be taken seriously. After everything else that happened, I now believe it very well may have happened and just been dismissed. 5) Had personal items "missing" several times. We never found out if it was other residents or the staff that were taking them. read more

After a very bad car accident, my son was here for one month. The doctors, nurses and physical therapy staff were wonderful. What the PT staff taught him made a world of difference. He was able to continue the therapy on his own and according to his orthopedic surgeon, didn't need to have additional therapy after his discharge because they worked so well with him. The nurses were so kind and caring not just for my son but also for me. I do recommend this facility. No one wants to come to a rehab facility, but if for some reason you need to, you will find a caring and trained staff. read more

My mom has lived there for 6 years and loves it. She enjoys the food and "most" of the CNAs and nurses. She is well taken care of.

My mother was sent here for over a month while recovering from surgery. Many of the nurses were rude to her during her stay, she struggled to get her pain meds regularly going 12hrs without any pain medication only a few days after surgery. When it came time for her to leave, the doctor wrote her a script for pain meds which she could not fill because the center filled 30days worth of her pain meds a week prior to being released so the insurance would not cover and the pharmacy showed those meds as being filled. When we contacted the care center they told her that they destroy any remaining medications and cannot release them to the patient. I have spent 5 days now trying to go between the care center, her regular doctor, and the insurance to resolve the issue. In the mean time my mother has had to suffer in pain because the care center would not contact the pharmacy or the insurance to provide them with destruction records. It is negligent to send patients home with the inability to fill medications when they leave especially when most individuals are still recovering from major surgery. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

The only reason this place is getting any star at all is because I have to select something to continue my comment. I'm currently a Certified Nursing assistant and have worked at many skilled nursing facilities. La Estancia is one of the worst. When my grandmother was put on Hospice through their facility it was one of the worst decisions we could have made. I would of been better off taking time off of work and taking care of her myself. I was the one having to change her diaper and reposition her. It would take numerous hours to get her pain medication and whenever you would try looking for the nurses they were either no where to be found or watching YouTube at the Nurses station. One Nurse was even touching up her nails with nail polish. When all of these disappointing matters were brought up to the higher management, we were pretty much laughed at and no problems were resolved. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES TO THIS FACILITY! They will be neglected and left in poor conditions. If you need recommendations go to Sante of Chanlder or literally any other nursing facility at this point. read more

My father, who is 91, was sent to La Estancia after suffering a heart attack. The day he moved into La Estancia he could not talk, could not get out of bed, could not eat by himself. After one week of working with the therapists Susan and Rebecca, he could do all three. Now, four weeks later, he is able to go back to his assisted living center and resume his life. Every minute of every day he was treated with respect and dignity. Wait times were reasonable and his needs were met in a timely manner. While the decor is a bit gloomy and dated, the staff far surpasses anything the decor lacks. AMAZING, AMAZING staff! read more

Jessica Usher our Admissions Coordinator was a GEM! I stopped in here completely frazzled and in tears on a Saturday after getting a distress call from my Dad at another facility. I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't be transferring him from one terrible facility to another. She was so wonderful even though I was a mess that it was reassuring. She toured me through the facility. Showed me the actual room he would be checking into. Introduced me to the Occupational Therapist (on a weekend which I was told by their competitor was not a service offered by any Skilled Nursing Facility). She prepped me for the discharge process from the place he was at and even provided me with her cell number in the event I had any issues. I had tons of issues upon discharge because the other facility wouldn't release him until Monday. She gave me her personal number in the event that I just needed to talk. She also told me who would be covering for her when she was out of the office. She made sure Lacey the Admissions Director knew the full scoop so I could get my Dad out of the other facility as SOON AS HUMANLY possible. She was extremely patient as the facility he was at didn't complete the proper paperwork resulting in an unnecessary medical transport being scheduled. When we got to the facility they had just finished installing a new bed for him and his call button was working (seems like a basic amenity but it was one that we didn't have at the prior place). We got him all settled in on a Monday and the Dad I hadn't seen smile in days was finally comfortable enough that he would be getting the proper care that he relaxed. He was immediately assessed and was scheduled for OT and PT. I thought he should be getting more time with them then he was because of the paperwork I had received from the surgeon. However, when I inquired the nurse and the amazing Jessica were able to show me that the orders they received didn't include that information. They worked with their professional staff to ensure that he got the services he needed and he was on the road to recovery. Laura Shepherd was the insurance case manager and she was able to assist us through the check-in, services and discharge process properly even getting the items he needed to continue his recovery at home coordinated. This isn't the ICU ward of a hospital where the nurses run every time a buzzer is pushed but they responded to my Dad in a timely manner and gave him the care and attention he needed to recover. They even arranged transport from the facility to my Dad's cardiologist for a follow up. Their transport company Dignity is so great. They were patient, thorough, personable and safe drivers. La Estancia made it very easy for me to assume care after he transitioned to my house. They provided me clear and accurate medication and post-discharge instructions. Everything Jessica told me was accurate, honest and compassionate care. Anytime I had questions with this process, medicare, etc. they were patient and informative. I haven't been through this before and having someone help me to navigate the process was truly priceless. La Estancia has great PT/OT services scheduled as needed so if your needs require some time daily you can arrange it. I would consider this facility again should the need arise. read more

I rarely do reviews but because the staff at La Estancia was so great I had to do it. I was a mess when I went there after a partial hip replacement and Tina, Bridgette, and Angela were awesome at getting me admitted. The nursing staff and nursing aides were fabulous with special thanks to Sabrina, Soleanna, Peggy, and LaShay. I know I am leaving a few others out however all staff was outstanding, and the physical therapy group was the real key to getting to come home two days ago. I would recommend them to anybody for sure, and if I ever need assistance again I will be back at La Estancia. Thanks to all for your help! read more

Cannot say enough great things about this facility and the employees. They take a very personal, kind, empathetic, skillful, and active role in helping the patient. They essentially saved a family members' life and literally changed his life for the better. Angie Debaca was incredible and I will be eternally grateful to her. Bridgette also (to name a couple of the many great employees) showed great care and concern for the patients and their future both at La Estancia and well after. read more

My folks are in skilled nursing long-term care at La Estancia. The medical staff, nurses, doctors, and CNAs have been very good to my parents who are 92 & 93. They are very well taken care of and are safe and comfortable. My family is with our folks every meal to ensure we keep tabs on them eating a good meal and not dining alone. The administration is superb, anything we ask for or have a concern is dealt with right away, it's wonderful knowing we have good, professionally trained people, and most of all caring and compassionate watching over our folks. read more

Most horrendous care ever! My fiance had major back surgery and was transferred to La Estancia. They may as well not even have emergency buttons at bedside or in the restrooms, because no ine ever comes. Some of the nurses and CNAs are kind but they don't have anywhere close to enough staff. They advised her that staff has to escort her to the bathroom, but we waited more than 20-30 minutes after pushing the button manybtimes with no response so I helped her to the rest room. If someone pushed the button cuz they were having a heart attack they'd be long dead before staff checked on them. They would often give her her meds late. After showering the CNA said shebwould be right back, but left her for two hours with soaking wet bandages over her new incision. They used a thermometer under her arm and then transferred it to her mouth without cleaning it or using a probe cover. They told her the facility had been out of probe covers for months. They gave her her daily meds - the ones she normally takes day to day - the first night she was there, but the nurse the second night refused to give them to her, saying they hadn't been entered in the computer yet. They gave her those same meds the first night she was there. At least two other friends of hers told her she should leave and go someplace else. We finally did leave, but the one nurse said she doubted she could find a wheelchair for her. Then when asking for her meds back, which we brought in with us, the nurse said she couldn't find them and made no effort to look. Another worker found her meds and a wheelchair. The poor woman in the bed next to my finace was always crying and sobbing because they were late with her pain meds. She had pulled the emergency cord in the bathroom but not one came, she then returned to her bed and waited but no one came... finally she got up and used her walker to go down the hall to find them. She was sobbing that she had been waiting for 45 minutes for them to come help her and instead she found them laughing and joking in the break room. Then the nurse came in and blamed her for not pushing the emergency button. what the nurse didn't know, and me and my fiance didn't know till later was that the woman had pulled the emergency cord in the bathroom. When I helped my fiance into the bathroom later, again after waiting more than 20 minutes with no response, we noticed that the emergency button what's flashing in there. And then thinking back we realized how long it had been from the time that she must have pulled it until she returned back to her room after going to find the nurse herself. I was so appalled at this nursing facility that I called Adult Protective Services about the poor lady that was in the same room as my fiance and also called Department of Health Services about how the facility is being run. read more
