Not because they are in close proximity they eat there they drive one hour or more to have the great food. We haven't had the pleasure of eating here in over a year, but this is hands-down the best chile verde we've ever had. My husband and I have been eating here every time we can visit from L.A. for the last 25 years or so, and the food is consistently fantastic every time we go. Chile Verde quesadillas are to die for, and the rest of the menu always delivers as well. Yes, it's in the middle of nowhere, but when it comes to Chile Verde, Cutler is the state capital. I don't know if they're cooking bad batches of crystal meth in Morro Bay, but do youself a favor and believe the positive hype you read here on Yelp, and drive out of the way if you have to to get here. Stopped here for dinner on our way back from King's Canyon because it was late and we couldn't wait any longer to get back to Visalia. Cutler is a tiny town of 5,000 people and La Esperanza is clearly the locals' favorite restaurant if the non-stop stream of customers coming in on a Monday night is any indication. The food here is overall pretty solid, although it really depends on what you order. The refried beans, chili verde and carnitas were excellent, but the chips were stale and the asada was tasteless and dry. Overall I decided to bump up the score to 4 since the staff here are very friendly despite how busy they were. read more
