I've been returning to Lake Huntington for decades and having this mini-market in town has saved me…read moremany times. As most know, there are two stores in the area. I am happy to have them both. This is a very small mini-market/marina/gas-station store, so set your expectations on what you will find here. The big pluses of the Rancheria (AKA China Peak Marina) Mini Market are: + Friendly staff! (seriously always friendly with extra staff during prime times) + Longer, more-reliable hours + Fishing licenses and supplies + Good quality backup camping gear + Good beer + Plus the usual camp necessities of ice, milk, bacon, snacks...and 5 kinds of salsa! + The boat rental is OK too, but you need to reserve ahead, but that is for a different review. + Webcam of the lake and temp! The little bit longer story is that we had been suffering with cheap, leaking air mattresses for years. One year, one finally failed and I went to see what they had. They were a little pricey, but they were great and we still use them. They still stock a small supply of better quality necessities to save you a trip back to Fresno. Things to keep in mind about both stores: deliveries seem to arrive only 1-2 times per week for some things. Some days the fridge is pretty empty at both stores during prime season...next day, jackpot! Seems to have gotten worse over the Covid summer. If you are camping, don't let your ice run too low because both stores can run out. 5 stars is a bit much, but for a place that needs to stay in business with seasonal business, they are doing very well!

Had a pretty poor experience with this place. I feel as though the only reason they're in business…read moreis the proximity to the local campgrounds; otherwise, the selection is very over priced and the kayak quality is sub-par. Before I get into detail, I recommend first-time campers pass this place and go to the "general store" 1/3 mile up the road. They have a more diverse array of items at similar rates, and the kayak quality is far better, although at a bit more expensive rate. Now let me get into detail. My friends and I came here to rent some kayaks for the day, and explore what the lake had to offer. We ended up getting 1 single person kayak and 1 two person kayak. We came here because it was a little bit cheaper than the resort I had previously mentioned, but it turned out to be definitely not worth it. The total damage was $160 for a half day with kayaks on the lake. My first impression of the kayaks: they literally looked like they were made out of recycled water bottles. Sitting in the kayak, there seemed to be 1/8-1/4 of an inch separating me and the water. Some of my relatives rented their kayaks from the place next door and they seemed to be in better shape, with a little less wear and seemingly better frame/material. But that's not what earned this place a one-star review. As my friends and I walked to pick up our kayaks, two gentlemen seemed to be snickering at us. These gentlemen worked for this mini-mart and we're going to escort us to the kayak. As we approached them, one man looked at my friend and said "Hey, aren't you guys on the do not rent list?" and laughed off to his friend (obviously making a blatantly disgusting and racist remark to my middle eastern friend). Shocked, I didn't say anything and proceeded to grab a life jacket. These guys had a bad attitude and kept looking at us at in a weird way as they continued to joke to themselves. When I was applying sunscreen before I stepped in the kayak, I heard a "hey, if you keep on applying sunscreen like that, you'll stay single forever!" from one of the two gentlemen. I guess this wise crack was intended to make fun of my body, pretty immature for two 40 year olds. I would feel sorry for this business if those two gentlemen represent the owners and workers of this local business. These guys were absolutely disgusting and classless individuals. Overall, I suggest you trek 1/3 of a mile down the road, where if you are a minority, the chances of you being racially harassed are much slimmer.

I love Mexican food and I'm 1/4 Mexican. This place has been around since 1976 so if I'm a bit…read moreharsh it's because they should know better. I checked Yelp but I neglected to sort by date. Some of the best reviews were many years ago. I ordered the chile verde burrito, wet, and my girlfriend ordered the fish taco Friday special. Chile verde has different sized pork chunks in a delicious green sauce but the meat was inconsistent in size with most pieces being rock hard, or fat/gristle. No pieces were tender. Chile verde should be tender. I can make better Chile verde in an Instant Pot with pork shoulder and a jar of Herdez green salsa. I trim my meat well though. No surprises. The fish tacos were attractive. They resembled fish sticks though. They had a bread crumb coating, were cooked earlier, and reheated before putting in the taco shell. Not beer batter fried aka Baja style. The taco shells were soft yellow corn tortillas with the texture of flour tortillas. These tortillas were really good! Avocado and fresh cilantro was a nice touch. No special fish taco sauce was used, but might improve the fish sticks. Rice was a solid hit for both of us. We make it like this at home with shrimp/tomato bouillon. The beans were ok. I ended up "returning" the inedible chile verde and they dutifully replaced it with a different burrito. The service was 5/5. The place itself is clean and neat and spacious. No complaints there.
