Jordans Flooring (Burnaby) installed flooring in our apartment in 2017. The workmanship was poor,…read moreand even after an attempted fix, issues remained. Transition pieces were not properly glued down, baseboard nails were not set flush, and the caulking was poorly done--problems that are still visible today. I lived with these issues for years because fixing them once was not enough and I did not want to deal with the issue again. The manager at the time did offer me a partial refund so I didn't ask for a 2nd fix. In hindsight I should have. Recently, I re-engaged Jordans because I need to redo my flooring. Engaging with the current store manager I was told in person that we would be "taken care of" and "hooked up" because of the 2017 experience. What followed was a 10¢/sqft price reduction (about $55 total). When I raised this marginal discount, the alternative offered was removing recommended services of leveling and voiding warranty. This process wasted significant time and did not rebuild confidence with Jordan's. We chose another contractor.

I was lucky to have stumbled upon this store by looking up rug stores in Burnaby. The owner, Nad,…read moreis knowledgeable, no-nonsense, and very willing to show you his rugs without pressure to buy something right away. Great sense of humour as well. I always thought handwoven persian rugs were out of my budget. But I was lucky that he had a bunch on clearance when I went (6 ft x 4 ft for $295 plus tax). The price is a bit higher than the rugs I saw at Home Depot/Rona/Canadian Tire/Sears but the quality is way better (at least in my opinion). So if you're thinking of buying a rug, consider going down to this store to look at the selection and broaden your options. The rugs themselves - every single one was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. It took me almost an hour to look through the different options for medium size rugs and it was tough to decide on which one to get. He has rugs from Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, all handwoven. I suggest you look on the website (rugcanada.com) to get a sense of prices. The photos on the website do not do the rugs any justice - you should go down there to see them in person.

The fluffy feather seat cushions are nap-inducing, the soft back cushions cry out "embrace me" - all in all, a statement sofa. It turned out that we needed the floors to be levelled before the laminate could go down, and that change was handled smoothly and swiftly by Ibrahim, our contact at Val-U. We asked for skirting boards to be removed and refitted, and that too was all competently executed. I've installed laminate floors a few times myself and could not fault the quality of the workmanship. I have no hesitation in recommending Ibrahim and his crew for this type of work.

I waited more than 4 hours because they did not have enough workers. In the end, I had to help myself. The seller was not respectful and did not have good customer service. When one carpet had a problem and I asked for an exchange, they asked me to pay an extra $200. This was not what they promised. I did not see honesty or respect in this store. I do not recommend this store to anyone. Please be careful before buying from here.

Having done a lot of our own research as to the different types of flooring available to us, our next step was whether retailers would have what we liked. We found many did not have the selection to give us more choice. We needed to find a good retailer who has good customer service and has staff who do excellent installation because we were not going to do it ourselves. At one big box retailer we were not too impressed by their impersonal sales staff, because they provided us with limited information on what would be involved to have the existing carpet removed and have the underlay and the new floor installed. A good friend had used Metrotown Floors and Interiors before and had referred us to contact them with our flooring project. So we made some time to contact them and to go visit their showroom. The showroom had a very good selection of all types of good to high quality flooring. The customer service representative Al Eris welcomed us as we came through the door. He asked us what was our plan and what needed to be done. Then, he made a home visit to measure the work space and bring up any concerns that needed to be addressed. For example, what baseboards could be used that would go best with the current door frames, trimming of the doors, and to consider that we may need to level the underground floor before installing the underlay and the new flooring. We were impressed by Al's professionalism and his attention to detail. So impressed that we chose to go with Metrotown Floors. Once we chose the underlay and flooring we wanted Al was quick to give us samples of the product, and he advised us of the cost estimate within a reasonable amount of time. He put the time and effort into understanding our needs and he was there for us before, during, and even after our job was completed. Reaching out to us to see if we had any concerns with the installation and if we are satisfied with his customer service and the hard working staff who did the installation. As such, it goes without saying that we would not hesitate to recommend Metrotown Floors and Interiors to all our family and friends. Sincerely, Kenneth and Nancy

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with this company was so frustrating and time-wasting…read morethat I feel obligated to warn others. We ordered three walk-in closet systems. One of the boxes arrived completely destroyed and contained random parts from three different systems. We contacted customer service immediately and made multiple calls over the span of two months -- often waiting on hold for hours -- and were repeatedly assured the issue would be resolved. After all that wasted time and effort, we were told that the only option was to disassemble everything and return the items for a refund -- as if they were doing us a favor. By that point, the units were partially assembled and the boxes were long gone, which any reasonable customer would expect not to need anymore. They refused to reimburse us for the packaging or offer any alternative solution. Given the amount of time we already spent trying to resolve this issue, the company should have issued a full refund without requiring further inconvenience. Instead, they asked us to spend even more time disassembling the product and arranging shipment, which shows a complete lack of respect for their customers' time and effort. Disorganized, unprofessional, and dishonest. Stay far away from this company.
