Our French is limited and we wandered into the patio towards a table as we tried to get the Server's attention. Just as we sat down, the extremely rude and nasty Server berated us. As we quickly attempted to apologize for our mistake he continued to mistreat us and speak with such hostility that we insisted we would leave because how dare he speak to us like that! It was an honest mistake on our part which we tried to apologize for but he insisted 'how dare we seat ourselves'. Our son-in-law is a Chef, one town over and he was appalled at how we were treated. We understood immediately we had made a mistake but to be spoken to with such ignorance and malice was uncalled for. He was just rude so we happily left and took our patronage over to Eze. This Person/Maitre di was Ignorant, Arrogant and had no class at all. We will be sure to tell anyone and everyone else we know not to go here, including those our son-in-law and daughter know as well since they are locals!!

The pirate would cut the top of the wine bottle off with a flourish of his cutlass and pour you a glass. Of course the food was great too. When we arrived in Menton we were told the restaurant had closed down and the property was for sale. We drove to the restaurant anyways and were thrilled to see it was still open by the Pirates son Ricardo who was closing up for the evening. And there was a menu with very reasonable prices. We made reservations for the following Friday for me and my teenage son and daughter. The location by the sea is unbeatable. We parked out front on the street in a reserved spot around 8:30. There was a couple there before us and we could see their shrimp and sardines (a specialty) were on the grill as we walked in. We started with sardines and shrimp, both delicious. My son had the grilled duck leg that was fall off the bone delicious. My lobster was grilled to perfection with an accompaniment of nicely spiced grilled eggplant and red pepper in olive oil. Our ice cream dessert was a perfect finish to a memorable evening even though we didn't throw our chairs into the fire.

We were told that they would try to honor the early check-in upon availability and the room upgrade. We were told that they would call us when the room was ready. My husband was taking a nap due to the jet lag, and we put a do not disturb sign on our door. The front desk called us and woke him up anyways, saying that they saw the "do not disturb" sign but wanted to see if housekeeping could clean now. We found housekeeping staff to be rude as well. Now onto the worst service on property, which was valet. Not only are they unhappy to help you, but they called a taxi for us and forgot to load our luggage. We arrived to the Nice airport without our bag. The only silver lining here was breakfast, which was delicious and accompanied by a beautiful view. We can't recommend this hotel.

I started to throw up and stopped my husband and myself from eating my second course. They charged me for the entire, uneaten meal. I threw up 3x on the roadside going back to the hotel, and 3 more times in the hotel. I had a doctor the next day. H said maybe it was only one mushroom, but it made me very sick & staff was no helo. The hotel called the restaurant the next day, and they said no one else was sick. I don;t care- I WAS VERY SICK FROM MUSHROOMS AT THIS RESTAURANT.
