    Croquetas de oxtail
    Gloria A.

Wow! Lets start with the food Empanadas de picadillo: packed w meat perfectly flavored, perfect pastry and meat portion. My fav of the night Croquetas de oxtail: loved that the breaded was light, loved the aioli sauce it came with Rustic bread: I am not a bread person and this was perfect. Crispy on the outside but not burnt, soft and warm on the inside. Felt homemade, beautiful oil presentation with it. A must try! I got the malanga soup- perfect for the miami cold lol and loved the swirly thing it came w My husband got the salmon and that sauce was delish! (We did without the clam juice because he is allergic) Our server was Ailen and wow, she was sweet, knowledgeable, efficient, quick and her attention to detail was superb We spoke w the chef Carlos and he was so sweet and you can tell he loves what he does! The ambience is of a high class cuban restaurant, they have amazing seating (bar, pizza bar, indoor and outdoor) They have a cigar section outside as well They also have amazing dessert and wine dessert! Will def me back Such a great spot

O M G i really thought i was walking into a traditional cuban restaurant and this place really went over my expectations, the waitress was very attentive and the ambiance and music just set the mood just right. The food was absolutely amazinggggggg. The Rabo Encendido was delicious definitely a 10/10. Will definitely return soon.

Recently opened in Miami lakes, La Cumbancha offers a elevated Cuban experience. Decoration is cozy, charming and elegant. But what captivated my attention was the bar, the color, the art work, the setup was so creative Their drink menu is spectacular, so many options to pick from. For food we had the malanga fritters which was delicious with the honey chimichuri sauce it cames with. And also the empanadas were also good Will definitely come back to try their entrees and the pizza. Overall the experience was a great one, customer service was top notch.

What a pleasant surprise, we loved our lunch at La Cumbancha. The food was delicious, we had croquetas de bacalao, ham and oxtail, riquísimas. I wanted to try it all so I also had the frituras de malanga, amazingly good. Churrasco and salmon for entrees, good portions and great presentation. The desserts were good sizes, guava cheesecake and manchego flan, very tasty.Lazaro was our waiter and he was wonderful, impeccable customer service. Nice ambiance. We will be back soon.

    Restaurant with live music stage

Wow, this place is very good. I'm Cuban and I'm kinda sick and tired of the same old Cuban food so much so that I avoid Cuban restaurants. My husband heard of this place and he convinced me to go and I'm glad that I did. DECOR: First of, super cute. The bar area is small but it has a tropical design without the tackiness. We ended up getting a very early dinner I want to say at 5pm so there was only two other tables there occupied but the bar was full. Apparently they have live music because there's a stage for it but we were too early to catch them. FOOD: So freaking good! They had something that no other Cuban restaurant has and that's ... chivo (goat). Omg you guys, delish. I had tried chivo on New Years Eve in 2019 in a family member's house and I am still thinking about it. Well this chivo was incredibly good. Get it if you can. I also had their crema de malanga and wow wow wow. Let me just start out by saying that it's not your typical tasteless/boring malanga. It had two huge chunks of chicharrón and sofrito in it. So freak delicious. For dessert I got a "Arroz con Mango" which I found hilarious (if you're Cuban then you'd know). It was very good. Very sweet. It's like arroz on leche with half the bowl being cubes of very sweet mango. All this was for me lol. I was stuffed like a turkey on thanksgiving. I could barely walk afterwards. DRINKS: I don't drink but my husband does and he loves Old Fashioned. He ended up ordering one and what an experience it was! A bartender rolled a mini bar over to our table and prepared it for us there! Wow. My husband loved the drink too. SERVICE: Fantastic. Our waitress was so nice and detail oriented. AMBIANCE: We were too early for the live music but the restaurant had some very good music playing, so much so that the waiters were low key dancing... as was I in my chair lol. EXTRAS: They carry cigars and have a small outdoor area for it.

The best thing on the menu that we tried - Cuban fried rice $24
    nancy f.

I thought if I sleep on it, I can leave a reasonable and rational review. Last night was so upsetting. We went to check out this Cuban restaurant in Main Street for the first time. Lived in this neighborhood most of my life, so I love Miami Lakes. We were happy to walk in and get a table fast even though it was all the way in the back and dark. They had a little light on the table but never really mention it. The waiter took forever to come by. He didn't speak English so I had so utilize my Spanglish. We ordered two red wines but he bought one white... that should have been a warning.... Right away I ordered a kid's steak with white rice for my hangry daughter and some appetizers. The croquettas were good but the bread $5 was a little too hard for everyone. We ordered the fried rice, the oxtail, and the frita because those are some of our favorite dishes at other restaurant. Let's start with the good because I don't want to sound like a Karen. The fried rice was really good and for the price ($24), was really worth it. The frita (chorizo burger) $14 was tasty but I actually like Cuban guys or Ronconcito de Santa Barbara better. They need those little crunchy onions or something. But the patty was good and seasoned. The fries were a little soggy so no one ate it. They should have use yucca fries which was way better. The oxtail, $39, a little too salty for everyone and didn't include enough white rice or any potatoes to soak up the salt. But it was decent but definitely not worth the price. I can make better oxtail. Regret not getting the Tomahawk. It was dark and loud but I don't mind it but I was sitting in the back and can't see anything, felt like I had fomo. The table and chairs were too close and when someone would get up, it knocked me while I was trying to eat so I had to move my chair. Now for the bad.... Service was horrible. I ordered rice and steak ($16) on the kids menu except there was none visually the host told me the waiter will explain it to you. I asked him about it but he told me the options in broken Spanglish. It was loud and hard to hear so we kept going back and forth. I originally ordered pasta but figured since it is a Cuban place and not the Italian like the original restaurant - I would go with steak. I confirmed steak with white rice and he asked me if I wanted beans. We said no thanks unless it came with it, she will try it. The food server came with a small plate of steak and moros (mixed black beans and rice) and steak and a big bowl of black beans. He said you wanted moros and black beans and I said no white rice, please. He shook his head and nodded like he thought it was weird that I would ordered it this way. My server talked to him and he left into the kitchen and never came back. I gave my waiter back the big bowl of black beans and I said she won't eat this, just the white rice, please. They brought all our food and I ask about hers, stating she just had practice and is very hungry. He said don't worry and went to check. I gave her my oxtail bc she didn't like anything else but took a few bites and didn't really like it. Told her just to eat the white rice. We ask for some butter to try to give it to her with the bread before and he forgot so he finally came back with the butter after we were almost finish with dinner. And we reminded him about the steak and white rice. He looked shocked like they haven't brought it out. I told him forget it but he rushed back to the kitchen. Finally it came out and he bought the big bowl of black beans again. We had already finish eating but we wanted to feed her so we waited for her to eat it. He took a few bites and said the steak for too tough. I am sure they probably microwave it because I tried it and it was so chewy. I wanted the check and to get out of there fast so I can grab her some drive through on the way home, but my brother being the humble doctor that he is, told me to just bring the food home so we don't waste it. I told him it too salty and chewy even for my Yorkie but he insisted. And since he was paying, I will pack it up for him. Can u believe this guy charged me extra for the big bowl of beans that I kept sending back and he included the tip on our bill. We usually tip 20-25 percent but we left it at 18 bc it was included. I wanted to talk to the manager but I hate complaining and it was such a long night I wanted to get out of there. He wanted to eat there but I would have perfect the Japanese sushi restaurant across. Now he knows next time to listen. I'm almost always right. Kind of sad because that place look like a fun place to hang out with for dinner and drinks. Even though the drinks are $15 and up like south beach prices, it would have been worth it if they have better service instead of trying to rip you off like you are a tourist in your own hood, just like Chela's. Skip it and go to Korner 67, Thai Cafe, or Taste 107, or any of the other restaurants, even the ale house. You will thank me later!

    Failed reservation system

This restaurant uses Google Assistant to take reservations but did not honor our reservation on Mother's Day for brunch for 8 people. They offered zero explanation to HOW their own reservation system that confirmed and re-confirmed the reservation failed and zero accommodation on what is supposed to be a nice day for mothers. We will not be returning to try them due to their gross lack of professionalism and customer service.

We had a great time !!! Music was live and lit Friday night the malanguitas were very yummy and came with a sweet sauce that made them even tastier, also tried the oxtail croquetas and were also extraordinary! There's a bit of everything on the menu to choose from . The drinks were on point the rest of the food was good too . I very much recommend the Cumbancha experience

Every dish was delicious and nicely presented. The service was excellent. The live music is great -- very good talent -- but a bit too loud during dinner time if you want to have a conversation.

If I'm being honest, I wasn't too excited when I first heard that Miami Lakes was getting another Cuban restaurant. I am VERY happy to report that this isn't *just* another Cuban restaurant (and I definitely should've known that knowing that Julio Cabrera was behind it). La Cumbancha is a work of art. My friend and I went to go check out La Cumbancha for happy hour sometime in late December. When you walk in, you see walls covered in colorful murals, a lime green and orange bar, and a stage near the main dining area. Being that the restaurant had just opened for the evening, there was only one other party there at the time we arrived, and so we went ahead and sat at the bar. I am so glad that we sat at the bar, because we had front row seats to the witnessing the absolute magic and artistry that goes into making each drink. The bartender was very attentive and answering any and all questions we had about the happy hour menu and his recommendations. Spoiler alert: he did not lead us astray with his recommendations and every food item we tried was delicious. We ordered the chorizo croquetas that paired perfectly with the little smear of sweet marmalade beneath it, the malanga fritters, and the seafood bruschetta that tasted like a magical little paella on bread (a very efficient way to deliver the yumminess to my mouth). For drinks, my friend and I both ordered from the happy hour menu to start. I really liked my drink, the margarita picosa, but I had extreme drink-envy because my friend's mojito was perfection. It wasn't excessively saccharine and was refreshing. We also had the chance to meet Julio's son, Andy, and he explained to us how they make their mojitos using cane sugar and not a simple syrup. Such a subtle difference in ingredients, but it definitely made all the difference. You could tell by the way that he spoke about the ingredients of each drink and in the way that he and the other bar staff elegantly crafted each drink that this is a place that is 100% serious about elevating what it means to create a cocktail. There was such an elegance to how the cocktails were stirred and garnishes so delicately placed in the glasses. It truly was like watching artists at work. As the evening went on and happy hour officially came to an end, the restaurant started to fill up with more parties and the band came on and the room with (more) life. It really felt like such a treat to be able to have this kind of experience on a weeknight in Miami Lakes. My friend and I ordered one more round of drinks. This time I had the 1888 Old Fashioned (absolutely solid. Delicious. 10 out of 10 and would definitely order again) and she had the Tomate Mi Paloma. I don't have the palate for mezcal and tomato drinks, but she loved it so I'll take her word for it being great. The paloma was garnished with a mysterious leathery piece of something, and we had fun trying to guess what it could've been until the bar staff put us out of our misery and told us that it was a tomato leather that was made in-house! And not necessarily something I note in most reviews, but I am absolutely in admiration of the visual branding of La Cumbancha. When I first saw the signage on the windows when La Cumbancha was coming soon, the type style looked very dated. But now that I've been inside the restaurant and experienced it for myself, it all ties in with the music, the green and orange colors, retro pattern on the columns, and rattan pattern on the menus. A restaurant that pays that much attention to its visual language can only be a small indicator as to the quality of the actual food and drinks that one should expect, and La Cumbancha 1000% meets those expectations. Even their website does such an amazing job of sparingly using the typeface that is used for the restaurant name, and pairs it with other typefaces that carry the same kind of organic feel with its varying weight. Rather than using the same lime green and orange on the website, I appreciate the legibility of using a deep teal instead; it still gives off the same kind of retro essence. I definitely plan on coming back for more happy hours, but also for the actual dinner experience! I keep seeing photos of the manchego flan and I am dying to try it.

First time here...and we are impressed! Service was fast and great. Our server, Hasan was very professional and friendly. The rest of the staff was great too. The food is not the typical Cuban food that we had before but it was good and the portion was great. Also compliment to the bartender...the mojito was superb! On top of that the band was amazing! Will definitely come back!

This place is amazing. Top notch service, delicious cuban inspired dishes, and the cocktails are a work of art. An offspring of the famed Cafe La Trova, it keeps in line with the same vision. The happy hour menu rotates, which makes for a new experience every visit. The music is fantastic as well! This place has it all! Highly recommended! Kudos to the staff and Julio for another homerun!

The music was great and people were enjoying their time. We had 1 cocktail each and went on our way because we just came to check out the spot honestly. I had the fabulous martini which has a purple hue to it, it was very refreshing. I love that they garnish it with a lavender. The espresso martini was made with Don Julio Reposado, and had real fresh espresso as per the menu. It was good but a bit strong too! We had asked for an extra shot of espresso on the side just as a pick me up. But our server told us that it comes cold, which is odd because the menu literally says freshly brewed espresso in the cocktail description. It was fine though, we still enjoyed the drinks. Overall, our experience was nice! If you are ever in the Hialeah area, you should totally check this spot out. They also have bites you can order but we were full from dinner and didn't get a chance to try anything. Definitely have to come back to try some more cocktails and grab some bites!

I proceeded to walk inside and I found a seat at the bar and I sat there. There were some people in there and I definitely wouldn't say it was dead, but it also wasn't crazy busy. There was three people working one lady with red shorts and curly hair another lady with blue pants and straight hair and then a short guy. I later seen a taller guy as I was leaving, he was not involved in my experience. The lady with the straight hair and the guy were on the side I was on they kept walking past and at no point seeing if I wanted anything, I know some bars you have to get the bartenders attention instead of them checking what you want so after 8minutes, I attempted to get the female's attention a few times for a few minutes and it did not work (she did serve other people during that time and was having conversation with ppl). Eventually, the lady with curly hair came to my side to make someone on her side's drink. I asked if I could order a drink and she motioned to give her a minute. She went back to her side, made the person's drink, then took some new orders from people and made their drinks and served beers.I waited over 6 minutes. Eventually she came to the side I was on and took the order of the person sitting directly to my right, completely ignoring me. At which point I concluded I was not going to get any service in this establishment and decided to leave after a total of 17 minutes of sitting at the bar and being completely ignored. I try to self reflect and think if I did something to warrant this treatment but I couldn't think of anything. The only thing that makes me feel slightly better is there was a guy sitting to my left that had a cup already and he kept trying to get her attention and she seemed to be avoiding him. I'm not sure if everyone was avoiding him for some reason and I was just unlucky for sitting next to him. I hated the feeling that this experience left me with and I hope no one else has this experience. The DJ was pretty good, even playing a few minutes of Reggae which surprised me. I ended up going to the Seminole Classic Casino and got service as soon as I sat down. The DJ was playing R&B and I ended up tipping him he was so good.

I truly enjoyed the shots it was nothing I've ever tasted and I went looking for the bottle in stores. It truly can be paired up to make a great old fashioned. I wasn't a fan of the marshmallow and iced chocolate drink. I didn't taste any liquor I was disappointed however, when I shared my feedback with the bartender I didn't enjoy it he made the drink elephant in the room which was wayy better. For a spot where the drinks are full price I expect to be truly impressed from the cocktail options.

I was especially excited because during Christmas time it was decorated as a Grinch-themed bar, which was super cute and festive. The drinks were very pretty and well-presented, but flavor-wise they just didn't really do it for me. The music also kind of threw me off -- it was much more vulgar than I expected, which I know fits a younger Miami vibe, but it felt like a bit much for my taste and didn't match the holiday theme I was excited for. The bartender seemed a little uninterested, and I wasn't a fan of the cocktails being pre-made, which took away from the experience for me. Overall, I love the idea and creativity behind the space, but it just didn't fully land for me. Glad I tried it, just not somewhere I'd rush back to.

The steak was also great, but the risotto is what won be over. I went here on Wednesday night, and it got busy as the night progressed. However, the waitress was always attentive no matter how busy it got. She checked MULTIPLE times and was super sweet and friendly. The place was cute with indoor and outdoor seating. My only "issue" was I struggle with speakers during dinner. They had a lady performing a few songs live. It wasn't too loud, but I usually prefer no music to avoid not being able to hear well or having to shout over dinner. This place is in downtown Miami Lakes. So, it's a super cute area to go for a walk or get dessert nearby afterwards. And, there is free parking close by.

The restaurant itself is clean and looks like they try, but it does not really create an engaging atmosphere or fully connect customers with its theme. In our opinion, the prices are too high for what is offered. We have visited restaurants with ocean views and better overall dining experiences that cost 15-20% less per plate, whether seafood or land-based dishes. Even a simple coffee here costs around $5, while other restaurants nearby offer similar or better food for almost 60% less. Unfortunately, we did not find anything unique, exotic, or locally inspired that could justify the high prices. Overall, the experience was average and did not match the cost.

We were a group of ten and all the food came out pretty quickly. My favorite dish was their whole chicken with boiled yuca! Just wow the yuca was super smooth and they put a green sauce which was delicious and the way they cook the chicken they put a special marinade and it's perfection. The ambience feels bold and modern with some Venezuelan/Colombia flare. Highly recommend to anyone to check them out!
