Grilled chicken breast and yellow rice
Sergio F.

I first tried some of their croquetas during the Miami Lakes Food and Wine fest a few months back and had a chance to stop for dinner the other night after work. Their croquetas - round, packed with ham and a fig dipping sauce- were still delicious! My main was their chicken breast arroz con pollo (yellow rice). The plate was generously portioned with about 3 filets and the rice had a nice hint of saffron and good texture ( little on the sticky side). A pineapple tres leches, creamy and with pieces of real pineapple, gave me my sweet closing. There's a lot of Cuban art, including a picture of Celia Cruz and a Walter Mercado quote in neon. On the weekends I believe it has a more dance club vibe. Service was pretty attentive and I saw they even sang Happy Birthday to another patron. I definitely want to come back on the weekend for the club scene.

We don't normally go to this neighborhood but we're glad that we did. Not only the food was very good but the live band was very entertaining. We started with the Shrimp Totones, Lobster Croquetas, and Burrata Salad. Everything was so tasty. The tostones were loaded with plump shrimps. The croquetas had a nice crunch. And the burrata was fresh. For the main course, we shared the Pork Ossubusco and Primavera Branzino plus we added the Grilled Octopus. The pork was fall off the bone. Super tender and juicy. The fish was moist and flaky and the skin was crispy. The octopus was a little overcooked but still very tasty, especially the charred skin. We also tried some of the signature cocktails. The presentation will blow you away. This is the perfect place for a celebration. The band will keep you dancing your seat while eating delicious Cuban food. Also, there's plenty of parking.

Finally it has opened and I had to go of course to see my art work being featured! I am so thrilled and honored to be a part of the decor at this new Cuban restaurant that we have all been anticipating. Should anyone want to commissiom me for art work, I am on insta sarahplasenciaart. In the meantime go and check out Daisy the Miami lakes cow! Today I went for lunch. It did not disappoint The service was great and we saw some staff that we knew who were there from the closed down Latin cafe. The food was authentic, yet with a modern twist. The ambiance was fun and we enjoyed the music choices. We will definitely be back to sampleor.food, and of course some cocktails. I also want to go when they have love music.

So I've heard mixed reviews about this place but finally gave it a chance. My first time there, I ordered the ropa vieja (one of my go-to's at any cuban spot). flavor was there and price was cheaper than the surrounding ares, so win/win. Second time around, I went for their lunch special since it sounded like another great deal. we ordered the palomilla steak, ropa vieja (again) and the fish fillet. the food was alright overall. I felt like I could taste the oil they used to cook the food with, especially the steak. it was obviously a great deal but the flavor's gotta match. we were also the only people there, so it's kind of impossible to mess up on the food. I'm not sure if I see it lasting, even if they have new ownership. it's kind of odd to be the only table at a restaurant, which is what I had heard about before. the spot does have a lot of potential to be great and give life to the plaza. they play live music on the weekends and the aesthetics are very picturesque.

We went for lunch and right when they opened, so this review will be much different than anyone who went in the evening for the music, etc. I liked the place in general, decor was cute and staff was super friendly. Food was good! Love the mix of options instead of only traditional cuban food. They offer risotto, guacamole and other items that aren't "traditional" but are definitely very popular. We really have no complaints and plan to return in the evening one day for drinks and music.

Back in NYC, but missing the excellent meals I had in Florida. One excellent dinner we had was at Cafe Mi Vitrola which served up authentic Cuban cuisine. Here's what we ordered: ~La Bemba Colora tequila, habanero spicy, mango, agave syrup, tahini, lime juice ~Lobster yuca basket crispy yuca baskets filled with lobster meat, avocado and spicy mayo This appetizer was so delicious and the yuca was super crispy! ~Loaded tostones- toston cups filled with camarones enchilados This appetizer was hearty and filling. ~Grilled Churrasco grilled skirt steak served with parsley mashed potatoes The steak was SO JUICY and was a generous portion. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you order this! ~Levanta muertos delicious seafood soup made with seafood medley and seafood broth The broth was so flavorful and it had a really good amount of seafood in it. I'd definitely order this fresh soup again. You can tell it was made with love! ~Flan-the perfect way to end our Cuban meal! This was a delicious meal and they had amazing entertainment! We absolutely loved the traditional performance. Highly recommend this awesome spot!

Always a great time. Love the decor and authenticity this place has while also giving a new take on creative drinks and traditional dishes! Live music on weekends!

From the same proprietors of Dr. Limón, comes this Cuban themed restaurant. It does make you feel like you've stepped into a local joint in Havana. They even have live entertainment. I had the mar y Tierra di Vitrola. The risotto was sublimely creamy and very tasty. The shrimp were cooked to perfection along with the red sauce included. I cleaned my plate. The skirt steak was cooked to my desired medium rare. With that said, the steak was a little under seasoned. I think it would have been better with the red sauce mixed with it instead of just the shrimp. My dining companions had different menu items and they were all extremely pleased. The mojito I had was the best mojito I've ever had. I could taste the alcohol and the lime juice equally. It had the right balance. Our server was very pleasant and attentive to our needs. All in all, a great dining experience. One thing to keep in mind is that it is pricey. My entree was $35 and the mojito $14.

Let's start off by mentioning Leo, our waiter, the most personable delightful and attentive young man who didn't skip a beat and made experience 10/10. The joint is super instagramable with picture worthy corners just about everywhere and at night they do have a band playing live Latin music so food for thought. Let's talk about what my friends and I ordered... Lobster and cod fish croquettes: I'd give these a 3/5 because I've had better elsewhere even with the included sauces but they weren't bad and portions are generous. Vaca frita sliders: this was a disappointment for us because even though the tostones were crunchy and the shredded beef was cooked to perfection and tender it felt short on flavor, it was bland unfortunately. I did mention it to Leo because it was the only item we felt needs work. Maybe a little more mojo or seasoning could change it for the better. 2/5 Oxtail Risotto: this was the star of the show...perfectly cooked cheesy risotto topped with the most decadent flavorful tender oxtail with meat falling off the bone. Recommend this 5/5. Arroz empaellado: basically a paella, this was also a successfully executed and delicious dish. Fresh seafood, tasty perfectly cooked rice and rich in flavor with a side of sweet fried plantains...yum 5/5 The food is a bit overpriced for Cuban food in Miami Lakes with an automatic 18% charge which is ok but it is mostly delicious and presentation on both, food and drinks, is 5/5. Service is top tier and ambiance is fun and playful.

Café Mi Vitrola is worth a try! We enjoyed ourselves as we went to celebrate Mother's Day early on a Saturday for lunch. We went right as they opened. The location is in a prime shopping plaza in Miami Lakes. The service was fast, but we were also the first ones there. The food was the usual Cuban food. Some items on the menu were slightly different, but it was typical Cuban flavors and combinations. The decorations inside were nice to look at. And if you go on their website, it shows they have themed live music on certain days of the week, which I don't see often enough. That's a nice change.

Great authentic Cuban restaurant with great live old school Cuban music on Friday nights. Food: Lobster croquetas- a must! Yuca bites- delicious Mar y tierra Vitrola-very good! Beverages: Lychee martini- perfect El Muletaso....it's like a guava version of Moscow Mule (has Guava, ginger beer, lime juice, vodka)- spicy & sweet -loved it!!!

Food is amazing but overpriced for mothers day .The service is really bad..our server looks lost like he was new or he didn't know anything about serving. Ambiance is good but music is too high for a restaurant..you can even hear the people is with you..

Finally tried out this new addition to the Miami Lakes area as the curiosity was killing me. I was pleasantly surprised overall. The decorations and art strewn about the place is very Cuban as well as the music playing throughout. Went there for lunch so the place was lacking ambiance but I'm told by my server/bartender Laura that it's a party at night with the live entertainment. Laura was a sweetheart and she clued me in on several "hit" dishes and drinks. I ordered the ham croquetas which left a bit to be desired. You get 5 golf ball sized croquetas with a pineapple based dipping sauce which I felt didn't pair well at all. I also ordered the Vaca Frita lunch special which come siete two sides for $13.99. Well worth it as the portion was plentiful for a lunch portion. Overall I was pleased and look forward to going in Tuesday night where they have their "Spanish" theme with singers and flamenco dancers.

The place was beyond packed. I think we over exceeded the capacity of this place for sure. We kept wandering from dance hall to dance hall seeing if one was better than the other and it wasn't. It was so hot inside, I'm surprised no one passed out. I decided to get a Rum and Coke. I asked for Sailor Jerry and they didn't carry it. I said Captain, the bartender poured the cheapest white rum available. My friend wanted a tequila shot, the bartender again poured cheap liquor. The BILL $22!!!!!! The music is so loud, I had to sign to my friends for us to get the heck out of there!!! NEVER EVER AGAIN!

If you don't want to go all the way to South Beach, but you are looking for somewhere for a smaller 10 or less group to go out and party like rock stars, Passions should certainly be on your list. I've been with groups much larger, but for bottle service the couches are small. I've been to functions with 50 people as well, and with a reservation you can have a VIP section so everyone is in one room with several couches. (I mention couches because after hours of dancing my feet hurt pretty bad and somewhere to sit, without leaving the party is important to me. Walk right to the left side of the rope in front of the line. Talk to the bouncer who looks up your name, puts a bracelet in your wrist and opens the rope for you. With the bracelet you can go almost anywhere in the club. Upstairs in the VIP bottle section you need a different wrist band. If you have ordered bottle service, then you will get your own white couch space with a separate bouncer which keeps others away from your party. The scene directly upstairs that overlooks the main room is not that different, but way less crowded. The second VIP room is much smaller, but you get drinks quicker and the jello shot girls are there ghetto most. I also think that the party gets much more wild in this room. Downstairs there is a room that plays Spanish and regaeton- but as stated in a previous review, that room gets over packed either people and when someone elbows you or stops on your foot in stillettos the party is over for you, so I stay clear of this room.

Alex our instructor was fun, engaging, and an intelligent instructor that broke the dances down for even beginners to follow easily. We first had bachata lesson at 8pm, followed by complimentary mojito and Cuban bites, then wrapped up with salsa lesson at 9:20pm. I wished salsa lesson was a full hour, followed by more fun salsa dancing with instructor dancing alongside (you know, cuz regular student folks won't keep dancing salsa on their own without pros' boosting presence) because afterwards everyone pretty much stopped dancing salsa after the last song after lesson ended. Then it was regular club time. Good vibe and we had fun. The wristband we got allowed free entry to the club downstairs so we could enjoy the cabaret performance and backstage live music band a bit too. Overall I would recommend Alex and Salsa Mia without any reservation for anyone with an open mind looking to have a good dancing time! Try it - don't be scared as there's no need to be!
