SERVICE & TRANSITIONS -- good The public spaces were exceptionally clean-- cleaner than a drill sergeant's bunker -- dazzling, and well-lit. Receptionists were friendly, and the elegant stone decor adds to the overall ambiance. Unfortunately, they refused to honor their Yelp discount offering the usual runaround ("what is that", "I'm not authorized", "idk", etc). ROOM [Luxury King Room] -- great https://youtu.be/GWhN8xCYSU4 Wonderfully fragrant, styled w/ergonomic furniture & unique design patterns. The visuals far exceed the meager online photos. VERY favorable initial impression. Dimensions were generous for the price & sufficiently lit. Functionally & cosmetically it was noteworthy. BED [King] -- bad Sleeping arrangements were a let down & I disliked... everything . Sheet weave Lack of support Ineffective springs Pillow fill, size, & quantity Nothing redeeming about this sleep experience. BATH -- good On the smaller side, especially the combination shower which felt cramped. Overall the space + installations were sufficient & the shower experience wasn't so bad Water pressure was excellent as well as the temperatures-- heated very fast! Papaya toiletries were nice to use but didn't make up for the lack of dedicated bath products. TV/ENT./ACTIVITIES -- good The casino is the obvious attraction but no one needs to read about my losses; moving on... This TV solution was a blast from the past: a Sony SD TV 4:3, maxing out at 20 channels. Effectively just 2: Sports & News. There's not much else to do here otherwise, excluding the claw-game in the lobby(more gambling?). WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- good Free & unencrypted with occasionally decent speeds. No issues w/cellular coverage. --Performance-- Video streaming - great Online gaming - great Video chatting - great --Nerd Stats-- 19-35 Mbps download 8-87 Mbps upload 0% packet loss 8 ms latency 3 ms jitter FOOD & DRINK -- good Lots of accommodations including: huge vending machines, breakfast buffet, & a barbecue restaurant. Food is prohibited in rooms which was a huge bummer, considering the location. Naturally microwaves are limited to common spaces only. in-room: microwave (mini) mini-fridge (small) coffee/tea wet-bar mini-bar NOISE -- ok No complaints but walls are thin so YMMV. LOCATION -- good Navigating here was too confusing for my Uber driver... In his defense: the routes are unintuitive & signage is lacking. Aside from that, the area felt safe. There's plenty of on-site parking + outlet malls nearby. RECOMMENDATION & RATING Final Price: $182.45/night Was it worth it? Yes Best part: cleanliness This was a decent stay. Not strong on comfort but functional & as clean as it gets. More than adequate if needing to scratch that gambling itch but It doesn't measure up to the Bicycle Casino. Still, I could see myself giving this one another try. Lukewarm recommendation. 3.5/5 @mrstaycation

Great experience. I've book before. Always clean and nice. Curtains might not work but still the room is clean.

Stayed last night, checked out this morning. Beautiful marble floors, comfy king bed, delish buffet. If we had more time I would have liked to check out the restaurant again. Had a drink at the casino, good action. Great local spot, will book my next night here for late night action and comfy room. Thanks. LA Crystal

This place is so shady. I was trying to book for my tenant and could not get an answer on their website nor on the phone about price and availability for a suite for a family. I was given a number to text. It was off by one digit and finally that person. Let me know. They were the wrong entity. Physically went into the hotel. Was told again they could not give me pricing nor availability only. Helen Mei could give that information. She was not on site and would not be in for several hours. They gave me her business card which I texted. I was told she would get back to me after checking availability the same afternoon. I had to reach out twice. She never responded. Until I told her I was going with another hotel. Then she said there was no availability for a suite. This is so fishy and so unbelievable. How does the front desk not know if a room is available? How do they not have a published price for a room? It seems to me like very questionable practices. I only did this because my client wanted to stay close due to his wards schooling. I will never ever set foot on that property again.

This hotel stands out and is hard to miss because of its Grand presence. In addition it's quiet and i was able to rest peacefully with NO interruptions. My room was also spacious and came equipped with flat screen TV, comfy bed, leather couch, a coffee maker, mini refrigerator, sliding mirrored closet doors, flat iron, ironing board, hair dryer, a study desk and office chair. Free WiFi is available and the connection speed is decent! In addition the hotel is located next to the Gateway Towne Centre shopping mall which is a one stop shop for all your needs: it has a Best Buy electronics store, lots of restaurants, Target and dollar tree grocery stores, a Home Depot store, ultra beauty store, Marshall's clothing store just to mention a few. There is also a metro transit railway across from the hotel. My only dislikes are the $100 room deposit, no microwave in the room and smelly carpet on the elevator lobby! But all in all it's a decent hotel and I would visit again!

    The beds - not bad!

Since it was my middle sisters birthday I decided to let her pick the hotel and stay as I like to stay in West LA or my ex roommates. Anywho, this hotel is located in Compton, CA. Definitely a very unique hotel as it has a lot of Asian foreigners, the lettering is in Chinese and English. When I checked in on 8/31/18 the staff was very kind and sweet. We had the luxury room. My middle sister did not know that Compton was about 25 to 30 min away from the festives we had planned all weekend. I personally did not have a bad experience...I did not get robbed or jacked as this place is not deep into Compton. Right next to the hotel walking distance is a lovely plaza filled with classy stores and food places along with Menchies. I can't consider this area to be hood as no Menchies is ever placed in the hood. Anywho, great accommodations and I have one minor complaints not with the room. Our room was very clean, smelled clean and lovely. However an incident occurred when one of the staff members came barging into our room unannounced- which was scary as he thought we were checking out on Saturday...which we were checking out the next day, Sunday and he came in around 11:30am and checkout is 12pm. The dude apologized profusely, as there are so many awkward scenarios that could have happened. I was not happy about the incident (minus one star). There was no bar and no casino!!! Which is the only reason why my middle sister selected this place (minus one star). I honestly would not stay here again as I like being near the beach and I felt like everything was far as we had activities in Santa Monica, West LA, Downtown LA, Hollywood and West Hollywood. The drive was not bad but Lyft and Uber fees were about $35 each trip which is cheaper if you stay under 10 miles in the West LA areas. Not everyone's cup of tea.

This place has ok rooms but damn the lobby reeked of Mold! I stayed at this location twice but the last time wasn't as pleasant lol I left a review on booking.com and was emailed by a supervisor from the hotel. I was asked to return for a complimentary stay. All I had to do was remove my review. I figured I'd give them another shot. Well, it's been months. I have been unable to reach anyone. No supervisor is ever available and they tell me I need to drive to them the day I decide to get a room, in case there is none left then I'm left out of luck lol avoid this joint....

    Really?

Oh boy where do I start? I rarely write reviews, but this place is definitely worthy of one. - Lack of proper air conditioning in both the lobby and the guest rooms. See the pictures. You know something is wrong when a warm +85 deg F Los Angeles day is cooler than your hotel room. We call the receptionist at 11:00PM to complain about that our room was too warm to sleep in and they told us to make a complaint in the morning..... ok! - Dirty beds and sheets. Do they even change them? If the buttons on the phone in our room we're still intact, I would know where to call (ugh). - Sketchy parking lots that look like they used to host swap meets at. - Complaint boxes seem to be a common sight in this hotel. Not surprised. - Majority, if not all, of the reviews you see are either biased or fake. Look at the countless 1 review accoints. What is this place good for? Nothing. I'd rather sleep in my car next time. I feel bad for the hoards of poor tourists that they keep bringing in here everyday in the bus loads. If only they knew.

Dirty and sticky carpet. Molds on walls
    Vince T.

Just to be clear this hotel does not even deserve one star. Carpet is so dirty and sticky, molds can be spotted at several places on walls, no tissue box, theft in hotel lobby. Loud speaking Chinese elders smoke at hotel entrance. No room cleaning is done daily unless it is requested and you need to put your name on the list. Homeless people wander in parking lots. My sons call this hotel "Trash Hotel". If you don't believe this, stay at this hotel on your next trip! PS: my son got his Iphone 8 stolen in the lobby. The stupid inspector (Adam) saw the guy snatching my son's Iphone from the security camera footage but didn't do a thing.

I was on the 8th floor and had a view over the pool and part of the city. There's only 8 floors here. No microwave in your room but there's a community one on each floor near the ice machine. The bathroom comes with lotion, soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. I always find the shampoo to be not bad but the lotion is too thin. It's the lotion that's in all the Hiltons and all of the lotions suck. I was in a queen size room and on each side of the bed there was a night stand. The one on the left hand side (if you're facing the bed) had an outlet and lamp and phone, the other one had the alarm clock. My room had the old school / motel style AC unit. There was a thermostat on the wall but the AC unit was the one blasting when I came in. I had dinner my first night at the downstairs bar. I went with a handful of colleagues. The table ordered the Mongolian beef, Margherita Pizza (which came out a bit doughy for my colleague's liking), Field Green Salad with cherry vinaigrette (which my colleague said was pretty basic and that the salad she had earlier in the day which was the Caesar salad was big and delicious), Fish n Chips (which I had and I thought was too bready and not enough fish. It came with fries and those were decent but never enough. The slaw didn't have a lot of flavor), Chicken wings (which weren't as crispy as we typically like it). We washed all of that down with some beers and tequila. The conference room was standard as well as the fitness center. If there's not a ton of people in it (it feels full with about 4 people in it), you might get a decent workout in but nothing like what you'll get at your home gym. There's a pool as well on the 2nd floor all the way in the back. You need your key card to enter. As soon as I got off the freeway, it was right there so its a pretty nice location. There are a few bars, markets, and restaurants certainly in walking distance and a quick drive away. Parking was free!

For them, that means a microwave/fridge. There is no safe in the room, no iron/board, no clock/alarm. Plus the main outlet by the table didn't work at all. They have an outrageously priced vending machine. I wanted a bottle of Coke, they wanted $4.50 for it! I went out in the morning, came back that afternoon and my key card had been turned off for no reason. Biggest disappointment of all...,they advertise 500 Mbps WiFi. In actuality, it is 4-5 Mbps. No, that is not a typo...they have single digit wifi, not even fast enough to open a webpage or check email. I had to use cellphones data from phone to accomplish anything. I reported it to the desk person and showed him speed test on my phone. He didn't seem surprised or alarmed. Said he would report it. I left hotel came back over 8 hrs later. Wifi was actually slower....not even 4Mbps! When checking out the next day, I mentioned the wifi issue to the morning desk person and ran a speed test with a result of less than 5 Mbps. He insisted it was weather related, even though I could show him screenshots of speed tests from nearby restaurants and other places that all had at least 500. The final insult was that I had to give $100 deposit for incidental room charges. I broke nothing in the room, there was nothing in the fridge for me to be charged for, I made no phone calls....nothing to be charged $100. I was assured I would get it back upon checkout. I checked out on Saturday. On Monday they put the $100 charge through instead of refunding it. I had to contact the credit card company and do a chargeback to get my money refunded. On the positive side, the room was very clean, bed comfortable. But I wouldn't stay there again under any circumstances. I posted several pictures of the slow WiFi via speed tests taken at different times of the day/different days.

Also the door in the side entrances to the motel states it locks all the time and appears to have to use the room key to access but it does not work. Otherwise, there are better options all over the Southland including other Hampton Inns. My review is coming from the perspective of a Hilton Honors Lifetime Diamond member. I stay in plenty of Hampton Inns around the US and even some around the globe. I recognize that it is in the budget arm of the Hilton brand portfolio and when I stay at a Hampton Inn, I am not expecting high-end, luxury amenities, personal services, or public spaces with artwork. I am looking for a reasonable price for the area market, a safe and clean stay, and casual but professional staff interactions. The 2 features I like about this hotel are the free self-parking and the overall cost for the local market. Almost all other hotels in and around this area (within 10 miles of LAX) charge some parking fee which this property does not. Also, the room price was not dirt cheap but was among the lowest of the other area hotels of similar comfort levels. While it is hard to not like that, I came away from my first stay here with an understanding that you get what you pay for. It is in an odd location, just off of the freeway and jammed into some open ground abutting 60 mph traffic. Just be aware that it is not really sound-proofed so freeway noise is going to be present. Also, the desk staff seems to have been called up from the bush-league. Like most hotels, guaranteed check in is at 3p. I happened to arrive early at 1:30p to an empty parking lot and a quiet lobby and thought the likelihood of me getting into a room early might be high. The desk agent did not look up at me standing at his desk until I intentionally made some noise and then instead of greeting me like a guest, he asked what I wanted as if I was interrupting him. I told him my name on the reservation and asked if I might check in early. He told me no immediately without even checking if there were rooms available. I have done this enough to know that it is sometimes helpful for the front desk to check to see if there were rooms available early and so I asked if he would check and he told me he knew that there were none. When I asked if he knew if any would be available early, he told there would not be any available until 3p and that they would text me if something opened up. I left a little annoyed because I felt like I had been blown off and I started driving away to look for somewhere to grab a late lunch. I received a text 8 min later that a room was now ready. When I got back to the hotel to ask about it, he acted like he had no idea who I was as he was checking me in. I thought it was odd when I had to ask if I could have a bottle of water which is a benefit I get for being a Diamond member. He gave me one but would not have had I not asked and I never received any acknowledgement of loyalty. I never really expect that anyway but I find it nice when a hotel staff will welcome me as a guest based on that. It just shows that they spent some time paying attention to caring about their customer base. The hotel was clean but clearly old and in need of a refresh. There is a lot of chipped paint in the public spaces. In the end, I got a bed, a parking space, did not get robbed, and did not see bed bugs. But I also got zero in terms of polite and professional service, no loyalty recognition, and no warm and fuzzy endearment to want to stay here again.

I'm tired (awake for 27 hours), so I'll make it quick:…read more - When we got here, no bellman assisted us, despite what looked a few wandering around the lobby - the door is so thin you can hear everything outside in the hallways; people walking and talking, carts rolling by, etc - worst of all (picture related) I found hair (pubes??? Short hair like that seems to be trimmed from somewhere unsightly in my opinion) on the very pillow I was going to lay my head on!!! Genuinely disappointed, mildly disturbed, never again. The 3.7 rating or whatever ratings has by the time you view it are lying to you. You'd be better off staying somewhere else. Normally Hilton has some pretty decent places, but I'm ashamed to say this place generally felt very... meh. I'm not making this one star because the receptionist was nice about my reservation, even after having a bit of a hard time finding our reservation (someone else's reservation showed up for us somehow) and found an accessible room for my family and I (elderly individuals in my family). Very old and outdated, no valet or bellman as mentioned above. Very deceiving looks. I would say goodnight (as of the time of writing this), but I doubt I'll be getting any sleep after the "pillow hair incident" of haunting my dreams.

Lesson learned to not give the task for booking a room to my 61 year old mom but she was helping out. I appreciate her helping get the room squared away. We were wanting to find a room closer to the repast and that wasn't going to be out of the budget for only a night's stay. Welp this place was legit horrible but we stuck it out for the night since it was booked and paid for. When I first walking to the room, I noticed the dirty chairs (not pictured) with all the old stains on it. You can tell they had just finished cleaning the floor because it was still a little wet and it smelled fresh. As the night went on I started noticing different things in the room. First discover/disappointment was the table with the dip that looked like it was going to cave in and break. Then I went to put my bag (larger size tote bag) and instantly removed it because as soon as I put my bag on or fell down. There NO little soap or bar soap to wash our hands, so that's when the body soap dispenser came down trying to put the soap in our hands. About an hour is later my sister (who is still recovering 2 strokes) went to shower and almost injured herself trying to get in the tub. She got into the tub backwards so that she could reach the assistance handle on the inside of the tub. Among other things that we noticed this is a HORRIBLE place to stay. They have ice buckets in the room but no ice machine, all I seen was a machine for soda. The os a zero out of ten for me
