My wife is 2/3 French and this food reminded us of meals we had in France. EX: The Croque Monsieur was delicious and large enough to feed 2 ,...toasted perfectly. Cute little sandwich shop. It's very small located on a busy street. Came across it while driving. I was warmly greeted as I walked in. There were some options of sandwiches you can choose from. Turkey Waldorf was a popular choice. It was delicious! My order came out quick. There are a few seatings if you like to sit down and enjoy your meal. They also offer pastries, snacks, and drinks. I was put in charge of providing sandwiches for the ladies at the tea party at my church. I am not one to cook big group meals but I wanted to provide them with some delicious food. Claudette and her cooking was the first place to come to mind. She provided us with a wonderful selection of sandwiches, all fresh ingredients as always. The ladies loved the and devoured them. Including our resident vegan that simply raved about how good her sandwich was. And getting to see Claudette for pick up always brings a smile to my face. This place is awesome, the service was immaculate, it felt like everyone just knew everyone. No gimmicky hellos or fake conversations just immediately felt welcomed and intrigued by the whole place. Cute but very tiny spot & not ideal to eat in (no seating or umbrellas outside). Given recent legislation and inflation, I'm not surprised that the sandwiches were a couple bucks more expensive than what is justifiable. I got the hot pastrami and did enjoy it, but there wasn't much meat - nothing at all like a loaded deli pastrami that goes for about the price. Also, I was put off by seeing most of their sandwiches sitting on the counter in the warm restaurant. Very odd to see smoked salmon sitting out for who knows how long. Probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in the area. Heard about it on social media and came here over the weekend for lunch. Parking is limited, you mainly have to park on the street. Inside it was pretty small, but the decor was nice and it felt cozy. I ordered the French Style Ficelle and it was so good. It had prosciutto, orange jam, and a block of Brie cheese. What was I waiting for? I finally tried this small, unassuming shop, and it turned out to be something really special. We ordered the croque monsieur and the French-style ficelle, and both were outstanding. Second time here and very satisfied with food and service. My daughter requested the Croque mansieur and I got the French style ficelle. My daughter loves how her "grilled cheese " is perfectly crisped and gooey, mine was great, the orange marmalade was different but it paired well with the meat and cheese and the bread was perfect not overly hard. Wonderful, unSubway like sandwiches - they are reminiscent of what I grew up with. Fresh (in some cases very crusty) bread, butter and imported ham. The Ficelle was off the hook!!! The turkey Waldorf sandwich is a divine experience! An itch that can only be scratched by eating one. Sometimes while eating one, I wish that I could be hungry again, just so I could immediately eat another. I've also had the pastrami sandwich, which is equally as good. The entree salad got better the more you ate it because there was a lot of very flavorful toppings paired with arugula so it was a really good pair. The cashier was a sweetheart and apologized for the lack of readied selections, but everything was well worth the wait. And we were happy to! I tried the Turkey Waldorf--they were out of croissants, so they served it on toasted rye instead. Perfection. The grapes in the mix add a delicate sweetness (and I honestly wouldn't have minded a couple more, but that's not saying they were needed); it was truly scrumptious. So I work in downtown LB and just typed "Best sandwich in LB" into Google, the Yelp list of 10 best popped up so the first place was La 'Croque. I thought, how have I never seen this until now. I browsed the menu and thought, the prosciutto/brie baguette but when I got there, there were quite a few options to choose from. I opted for the prosciutto baguette, this is the Ficelle, but also got the ham/cheese on a pretzel type baguette??? (idk, shaped like a baguette but pretzel!) Both had amazing flavor! The french butter and orange marmalade made for a nice, tangy, but not too sweet flavor to compliment the meats and cheeses. It was my first time there but will definitely be back to try other menu item! If you find yourself in Long Beach, it's worth the stop. read more

This place is a nice little hole in the wall place. Alittle hard to find , and parking SUCKS considering it's long beach. At first I thought this sandwich was really skinny lol because it was. But it was long. And actually half way I was pretty filled from the bread. I was surprised. And the bread is really good, maybe it's the French butter with it or the brie but mmmm mmmm mmmm!! I'm the farthest thing away from Vegan but asked what the best sandwich on the menu was "the Vegan" no problem they suggested adding the French ham. Boom let's do it! Definitely one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life!!! The veggies on this thing were straight farm to table. So fresh and so so good I was simply stunned. Every bite was better than the last. Tomatoes and veggies so juicy and flavorful you'll lose your mind... I mean just unreal at how fresh everything was. And the pastry and cookie selection was insane. The triple chocolate chip cookie is a must. I live in the bay but can't wait to visit again to grab another sandwich from this amazing eatery. Claudette has worked her magic again with this incredible sandwich shop. Happy Cow was a Sunday staple for years, and La 'Croque builds on that legacy and somehow makes it even more magical! The sandwiches are incredible. My favorites are the Capretzel (pretzel bun with sheep's milk cheese, pesto, fresh tomatoes) and the California Vegan (loaded with fresh veggies, hummus, etc). The shop is loaded with gourmet chips, chocolate bars, drinks, etc. The true highlight of the experience is still the delightful people, though.
