Long before the invasion of 7-Elevens, these small corner markets kept neighborhoods thriving. I was really impressed by their selection: beef jerky in a jar, unique beverages you won't find at typical convenience stores, and homemade goods and sandwiches. I even picked up a loaf of sourdough bread made in San Diego. The breakfast burrito was good, though not quite in the legendary tier. It was generously packed with eggs and small pieces of avocado. Their hot sauce had a nice kick, but I definitely could have used a bit more of it on the burrito. Service was great. The owner asked if I needed help finding anything, and when I told him I was just browsing, he didn't pressure me at all. He simply pointed out a cooler behind the counter with even more beverage options, including Shasta soda in the mix.

So we grabbed a couple of friends and went to Long Beach to check this place out! It is located on a side street but you can find parking in a small lot with the bar that this place is attached to. I'm assuming the bar orders from them to pass the food on to their patrons which is pretty cool imho. Anyways the inside itself is pretty tiny. I forgot to take a picture but it had LA Dodger colored sport figure heads painted on the wall. Pretty cool! (Even coming from an Angels fan) The prices itself are pretty pricey. I had to go for the Mike Tyson Burger. It was $18 for the burger and didn't include any drink or fries which kind of sucks honestly haha. I opted to pay for some fries and drink. Sadly, the soft drink machine is broken here and had to get a can soda. My food came out and please note that the fries come as a basket of fries only, so if you're eating solo and wanted some sides come hungry for sure haha. The burger itself looked really delicious! They had a special sauce on them and really thick patties but how did it taste? It was pretty good! The sauce served with it was delicious and paired well with the pastrami and the beef patties. The burger itself then became pretty messy but overall it was really good. The dudes at the front were really chill and even hooked us up with some ranch when they usually charge. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food. But was it "the best burger place ever" as my in law claims? No haha. Don't get me wrong it's a really good burger place but the price for my entire meal was around $35. Definitely got what I paid for but I think you can get a quality burger with fries and drink for a way cheaper price. And you know with a working soda machine. I would say get a burger fix here if you got the money for it. The Mike Tyson did definitely knock me out!

I've traveled around and tried a lot of burger joints. It's honestly hard to fuck up a burger, but it's also hard to make one truly memorable. The Win-Dow captures exactly what an LA burger should be: quick, simple, delicious, and affordable. Now they have locations throughout Southern California, including this one in Long Beach--which I especially like because it isn't surrounded by hundreds of hipsters. It's in one of my favorite parts of Long Beach, where you still get those laid-back beach-town vibes. The staff is usually pretty straightforward. Smiling must be considered an "ick" nowadays, but no worries--I'm here for the burgers. There's a chill little area outside the pickup window where you can eat, or you can drive a few blocks to the beach and enjoy it there. For the quality, simplicity, and price, The Win-Dow is genuinely one of my favorite burger joints. I had some of my cousins fries with the jalapeno ranch and house ranch to try and I def recommend trying the sauces they have.
