Abigail has the biggest and sweetest personality. This was the first time I got my hair professionally colored, so I was a bit nervous. Despite never meeting Abigail before, I felt like I've known her for so long. She welcomed me with her radiant energy and instantly felt confident that I was in good hands. I came in for highlights and wanted to stay on the natural, safe end of the spectrum. She gave me exactly what I wanted, which turned out to be a bit too natural and played it too safe. So I went back the second time and she lightened the strands a bit. The salon is small and located on a side street off of Telephone road called Gillen st. The salon is in the same shopping strip as the Original Kolache Shoppe. Now this area is not the best looking side of the city. However, I felt safe as I went in the day time. There is a small parking lot on the side. On the inside, the salon is cute and decorated with a girly theme. The owner is the only hairstylist, and she is professional and very welcoming. She allows payments with credit cards and has a square to slide cards on her tablet. She charged $45 for a wash, trim, and flat iron style. I have never written a Yelp review but I am always raving about La Coquet Salon and my stylist and Abbie on my personal social media so I decided to share on Yelp too. Abbie became my stylist about 10 years ago when she was working in the Rice Village area. A few years later, she left that salon and well I struggled for awhile going from stylist to stylist because I was never fully satisfied. I finally decided to Google her... kinda stalkerish... but hey I just couldn't let go of such a great stylist. I finally found her a few years back and she has been my stylist ever since. She's even become the go to stylist for my sister, my mom, and some of my girlfriends. I am always truly beyond satisfied with her service. She is a great stylist and offers the best tips and advice; plus she always has my hair's health in mind. I definitely wouldn't let anyone else cut or color my hair... ever!!! read more

Abbie has been cutting my hair for about 5 years now. She started cutting my hair when she worked in the Rice Village area. When you find a stylist you love, you will follow them if you can and that's what I did when she opened her own salon. I get so many compliments about my cut and the style of my hair. Not only does Abbie cut my hair but she styled my hair and my bridesmaids hair for my wedding. I only wanted Abbie to do my hair for my special day! Abbie's sister also did my make up along with my mom and bridesmaids for my wedding. She did a fantastic job as well. Abbie is super talented and very friendly. Abi is amazing! I've been going to her for years and even though I don't go to her very often because I keep my hair pretty low maintenance, I always have an amazing experience. She makes me feel at home and like I'm just visiting a girlfriend and catch up. She's extremely nice and a sweet person! I absolutely loved the service at La Coquet Salon. I loved how Abigail took the time to really make sure I left happy with my haircut/ new hair . I especially loved how Abigail will give her input on what would work for my hair / face . In addition, the salon was closed to my job and convenient. However, I am giving a one star due to the fact that after years of getting my hair dyed and cut by her I was unable to ever get a call back on scheduling an appointment with her again . I called numerous times and text her throughout this year , but never got a response . I really wish she would of responded because I did not trust anybody else with my hair except her( I made the mistake of doing that once due to an emergency and Abigail had to fix it which she did an AMAZING JOB) . I am unsure of the reason behind Abigail not calling or texting back, but I really wished she would of responded if she would no longer wanted to do my hair .
