When she was finally brought her drink, the server asked again if that is what she ordered. It was a very weird interaction as he as able to get mine and my other friends drink order perfectly fine. When our food came out, both of my friends were given their dishes. I was given part of my dish and was missing my tortillas and salad. I asked the server and he said he would grab it. We waited 15 minutes before flagging down a different server who promptly brought the remainder of my food. Not only that, but out server came back to our table and grabbed my friends plate and took off with it around the corner before bringing it back a few seconds later. Without any explanation as to why he was doing that. Definitely a strange experience. The food was good, though.

Obviously prepared in advance, they were bland. No flair. For $15 you get beans and rice and tortillas-- except they forgot the tortillas. No real presentation values. Slow service despite being almost the only ones in the restaurant. The stuffed chilies were.... greasy, their (red) sauce bland. Blah. We understand food costs are rising, but here, the quality is going down. I shrug. Lots of competition around town. The upsides are that it's clean, nice restrooms, and very polite. Downsides are slower service, and no flair. We don't drink alcohol, and didn't sample their drinks. Maybe those are good. We'll never know or care.

It has good flavors and preparation. Service isn't amazingly fast, and the decor isn't dazzling. It's a neighborhood popular restaurant where two can dine well without liquor for under $30 for both, including tip. The varieties are good, and some of the dishes are predictable and good. There are no competing noise sources to distract you. We like it because it's good every time, and isn't the product of a half-dozen microwave ovens. It's reliable, tasty, cost-effective, and has a decent variety. Most dishes arrive not very spicy, so if you'd like it hot, just ask. We like Casa Brava and La Cherreada above the others in the greater Bloomington area. In Morgantown, Los Dos Abuelos is realllllly good. p.s. There are a good number of meatless dishes and vegetarian combos. I can't vouch for the liquor.

Not only is…read moreLa Poblana my favorite food truck, but I would argue that it is one of my favorite mexican spots I've ever been to. First, the food is absolutely amazing. I've visited La Poblana more times than I can count, so I've tried almost everything on the menu. Tacos, Quesadillas, Burritos, they have it all. This visit, I ordered the Chicken Burrito with a side of chips and guacamole. The burrito was incredible. La Poblana does an incredible job of balancing out each ingredient. There's never too much of each ingredient. It's always just right. The guacamole is so flavorful and tastes amazing with anything you could possibly buy. One of my favorite things about La Poblana is that you get to pick what salsa you want with your meal. I always get a side of both the mild green salsa as well as the spicy red salsa. Both of them are delicious compliments to your meal. Finally, you will never have better customer service. The people who run the La Poblana truck are so incredibly friendly and kind. Every single time I order, I am greeted with a huge smile, and they take such pride in serving their delicious food. If you are in the Bloomington, Indiana area, go check out this truck. I promise you, you will not regret it. God Bless America and God Bless Food! Your friend, Dan Hanis

It's new to Bloomington, new to me, and has moved into first place in a town with many many options. Tacos El Pastor is so new I had to have Yelp add the restaurant. They have a food truck as well I believe, but this is the restaurant located where Juanita's used to be. The menu is typical of most places with all the options you'd expect, the interior is decorated like the others. The service was great - but it was empty so let's hope it continues when they get known in town. The food. Well, the food was simply better. I had the Fajitas Little Mexico, which is their version of combo steak-chicken-shrimp. There was an abundance of meats, plus perfectly cut onions and peppers. I ordered without tomato so don't know how those would be. It was flavorful, hot and delish. The side plate was the usual, with perfect refried beans, the lettuce and cheese, and rice. I opted for both flour and corn tortillas (I would guess that was an add-on but forgot to look at my receipt) - both were piping hot. All in all, best in town. I had debated between fajitas and the chimichanga and luckily my wife ordered the fajita chimi and I was able to rescue 1/4 of it from touching the sour cream 'just in case' she didn't finish it. I know her well, and it was a HUGE chimi. There was no way she was finishing so I planned ahead. She loved it. I did too. It was stuffed, big, and fried perfectly. The beans and rice were on the side, and the chimi had the steak, green peppers and onions. All in all, again, best in town. SO the only problem? When I return do I order fajitas or chimichanga? I'd like to branch out but I know that won't happen. I need my fix again. El Ranchero Southside, let it be known there is a new sheriff in town. We'll still visit because you're close, but I'll be heading downtown for at least half my Mexican dining from this point forward.
