My friend is from Colombia and recommended this spot! I was excited because I've never tried…read moreColombian food before and it was only 20 mins away from me. Parking is kinda weird. You park in the back and then walk around to enter through the front off Beach Blvd. Very small inside but authentic feel. Really cool maps and artwork of Colombia on the walls. We started with the beef empanadas and an arepita (mini arepa) with chorizo. Both were delicious and had me looking forward to my main plate. I got the bandeja paisa which I believe is one of the most traditional dishes in Colombia. It came with all kinds of stuff - steak, chorizo, pork belly, plantains, egg, avocado, arepita, rice and beans. Everything was amazing! All of the flavors combined together very well and good thing I was hungry because it was a ton of food. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the server forgot to put in my friend's food. However, she was very apologetic and gave us a fresh juice on the house. I'll definitely be back to try some of the seafood dishes!

The food is the winner here. Flavorful, fresh, crispy. Delicious!…read moreWe (group of 3 adults) ordered one combination plate that included: - grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, pork belly, plantain, avocado, lime slices - sides of a plate of rice & red beens - tossed green salad - basket of French fries Plus an order of chicken empanadas (3). Packed with tasty shredded chicken. Petite dining area is comfortable, clean, festive. About 12 tables. We arrived at 11am, close to opening. By the time we left (12:30pm) every table was taken. One attentive waitress adequately took care of all guests with a smile. Parking is limited. Enter alley to parking lot thru Taco Bell parking lot. La Chiva shares 8 slots with a couple other businesses. No entrance to restaurant from parking lot. You have to walk thru the alley to Beach Street entrance. The food is worth the inconvenience.

We made a reservation ahead of time, and when we arrived, our table was decorated with rose petals and a cute anniversary card. Such a thoughtful little detail that made our celebration feel extra special! For food, I ordered my usual, the Ropa Vieja, and it's honestly a 10/10 every time! The meat is always packed with flavor, and their rice is literally my favorite! My husband ordered the New York steak, which was super buttery, tender, and seared to perfection. We also ordered a side of their Caribbean fries, and the dipping sauce was SO good! For drinks, my husband ordered El Cubanito, which was really good! I went with the Agua de Coco, which literally comes served in a coconut! I also ordered a shot of their Havana Club Añejo to go with it, and I loved the combination. Definitely something I would order again! Overall, such a wonderful experience! Between the delicious food, drinks, and the thoughtful anniversary setup, it made our evening feel even more special. Habana continues to be one of my favorite spots, and I would absolutely recommend it, especially for a date night or special occasion!

More parking than I thought on a weekend…read more Restaurant located at The LAB Anti-Mall in Costa Mesa. Tropical vibes and decor. Our server was initially prompt, but as the evening passed, we saw him less and less as the tables began to fill to the point we had to ask other waiters to refill our water. We ordered a bunch of entrees and sides to sample the menu. I ordered the Chef's Special which included a hanger steak, broccoli, and roasted potatoes, along with a side of the Chorizo Mac n Cheese. The consensus was that the food lacked seasoning. The sauces that were served with the dishes enhanced the flavor and added the needed seasoning. What I want to highlight is that they had cooked my steak just as I wanted (rare) and the broccoli was just how I liked it. Price is a bit steep, but you're paying for the aesthetic and atmosphere. Overall, while I'd be open to trying it again, it wouldn't be my first choice for Cuban food.

Worth the Drive from the South Bay…read more Another Eat the World LA find -- and one of my favorite discoveries for Argentinian food! I will literally drive all the way from the South Bay to Santa Ana for the empanadas at Puerto Madero Argentinian Market & Bakery. As someone who is half Argentinian, I'm pretty particular about Argentinian food, and especially empanadas and chimichurri. I criticize almost every chimichurri I try at restaurants that serve it. These empanadas are baked, not fried, generously stuffed, flavorful, and incredibly well-priced for the quality and portion. They don't skimp on the filling -- the empanadas are thick and packed with protein, which makes them feel like an actual meal rather than mostly pastry. And the chimichurri is one of the most authentic I've found. That alone is worth talking about! I've picked up empanadas to bring to all kinds of people, and they consistently get the same reaction. My mom, who is Argentinian-born, loves them. My best friend's family, who is fully Argentinian, praises them. Even my Mexican grandmother has declared them some of the best empanadas she's had. That's a pretty impressive range of approval. I've walked in and ordered a dozen on the spot, placed orders for dozens ahead of time, and also tried other items like the Choripán and beef Milanesa sandwich. Everything has been consistently delicious. Whether I'm grabbing a few for myself, ordering a dozen for family, or bringing a big batch to share, Puerto Madero never disappoints. For me, this is absolutely one of those places where the drive from the South Bay to Santa Ana is completely worth it. If you love Argentine food -- especially empanadas -- put this place on your list.

The restaurant has plenty of seating and a good view of the outside shopping centers. It has a nice vibe especially if you're doing a dinner and they have a nice cultural influence. Service was amazing, the host was checking in often and the food came out in good time. The food overall was decent. Honestly I've had Peruvian food with more flavor profiles and payed a little less, the chicken was a little dry and did not have that Peruvian, you usually get some good spices and citrus with Peruvian food and it felt closer to fajitas with French fries. The yuca fries were actually done really well but came with no sauce or dip and the empanadas were good but fell apart t very quickly. The filling was good and there was a whole green olive inside that had more flavor than the meats. I would have chopped up the green olive, and integrated it more. Lastly the fried rice was pretty good to be honest ... I think that was the best thing I had while there but it did need some of that spicy kick. Overall I would return to Inka but it will not be my first choice for Peruvian food.

And you must get their platter de carne. It's not on the happy hour menu but it's a medley of their best entrees like 16-hour braised short ribs that literally falls apart, honey mint glaze lamb chops, and more. One of the most stressful and disappointing restaurant experiences I've ever had…read more We visited Cafe Sevilla with a group of 14 for a prix fixe menu. The food was served on shared platters, but the portions were distributed unevenly. One section of our table was expected to share a single platter among eight people, while the other section received two. I brought this up several times before our server finally corrected it. Getting enough food for the people paying for the menu should not require repeated requests. The drink service made the evening even more frustrating. The restaurant was loud, and when someone at the table suggested ordering shots, the server would bring entire platters of tequila shots without confirming how many people wanted one or which tequila they wanted. I repeatedly asked him to stop bringing shots without checking with us first, yet it continued. When the bill arrived, the shots were far more expensive than expected, they were at more shots than ordered and we had also been charged for additional people who were not in our group. Our server initially told me there was nothing he could do. When I raised the issue with the manager, I was met with attitude rather than a willingness to resolve an obvious billing problem. She eventually corrected the headcount, but only after considerable back and forth. She only deducted five shots out of the 25 she charged us for, mind you most of our group was not drinking or only ordered a margarita. There was also an automatic 20% gratuity, which I understand for a large party, plus an additional 3% credit card fee. After spending the evening repeatedly addressing service and billing issues, that extra CC fee felt like the final insult. Unfortunately, the food offered no redeeming quality. It tasted soggy, excessively salty, and far from fresh. We came to enjoy an evening together. Instead, I spent much of it managing portions, trying to stop unconfirmed drink orders, and disputing the bill. Based on this experience, I would not return or recommend Cafe Sevilla for a group dinner.
