Review is solely based on food as I ordered takeout. The price is absolutely abysmal for the portion you get. I got the beef saltado ($25) which barely had any tomatoes in it. French fries and beef were dry. Would not get again.

Good food, great service, nice ambiance. Lomo Saltado with the tender (I think that's what they called it) cut was delicious. Side of plantains to go with the meal and a glass Cabernet was perfect.

Shrimp soltado

We went for lunch and the shrimp soltado did not disappoint. There was plenty of meat to veggie/fries ratio. The aji sauce to go with the complimentary basket of bread is hard to stop your hand from eating. You get two baskets per table and extra is $3.50. This dish is a perfect blend of spice and flavor. The side of rice compliments the dish and adding that aji sauce to every bite is unbunbelievable.

Highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the OC location or going to the theater stop in and enjoy this beautiful amazing restaurant and delicious food authentically from Peru and Lima. You gotta taste it great location safe parking safe all lit it up. The service was great. must stop in and try the food. The green sauce is delicious.

Delicious Peruvian dishes, with very traditional style decor, but also a modern twist. The fried rice is my favorite to go with any meal. There's lots of seafood items, so if you're a fan, this is a great spot. I like to start with the fried yucca appetizer. You pretty much can't go wrong with whatever you choose.

Absolutely love this Peruvian spot across from South Coast Plaza. They have a large menu, plenty of seating, and friendly staff. I've tried several dishes from them and have been happy with everything I've ordered. The appetizers here are definitely fun to share and they have some really tasty ones like their fried chicken and this potato/shrimp/vegetable layered one. Food does take awhile to get to your table.

The empanadas were a great starter. We got one beef and one spinach and loved both. The Filet Mignon Saltado was excellent. They initially accidentally gave us just the regular beef and it was a noticeable difference once they fixed the order and brought out the filet mignon. Delicious! We were happy to see that they have Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc wine from New Zealand!

Lomo Saltado, Tallarin Verde, side of yuca

Came in on this lovely Sunday night. Our server was very sweet. We ordered the beef empanadas (amazing), the Lomo Saltado, and the Tallarin Verde with chicken. The green sauce was delicioussssss. My dish was the Tallarin and I was very impressed. I have a favorite spot for Tallarin in Cerritos but this one might be my new favorite. The pasta was perfectly al dente, nice bounce. The sauce was rich and decadent. Creamy but also a lot of flavor coming through. The whole time we felt very taken care of. Staff were refilling drinks and bread. Very attentive staff. 10/10

Went on a Sunday for late lunch. Food tasted really good, however, my dish (Arroz con Mariscos) was lukewarm. My friend ordered the Chaufa Combinado which looked like it came fresh out from the pan. I could see the steam coming out when she was mixing her food. Each order can be shared by two people. The bread also seemed old and not warm. Our drinks (Chica pisco) also tasted good and sweet, but it seemed like there was no alcohol in it. Service was fast and the place is clean.

Cabrito norteño

Randomly saw this place mentioned on reddit so I had to check it out. I saw a lot of pictures of the "causa", so I had to try that out ("shrimp causa"). Also ordered the "cabrito norteño" and "ajiaco de mariscos". It was my first time trying Peruvian food, but it was a great introduction because everything was so delicious. While I was extremely happy with everything I ordered (the causa really is a must-try!), I'll be honest and also say that for its price, the ajiaco de mariscos was just okay. A bit pricey for what it had to offer (everything else was great though!). The lamb meat from the cabrito norteño was fall-off-the-bone levels of tender, for instance.

Due to Peruvian food crave on the way home from work, I searched for the closest restaurant and this place popped up so I decided to give it a try. It would have been nice to dine in for the full experience but I went with to-go option and postponed for next time. This place had unique Peruvian decorations that entertained me while I was waiting for someone to help me with the order. The sofa at the entrance was a nice touch to the coziness as well. When the server came with the menu as soon as I told her that I would like to to-go the foods, she asked if it was my first time at the restaurant and then recommended what she likes, which was helpful deciding the order. She was very polite and friendly. Since it's my first time visiting this place, I went with the usuals, which was Arroz Con Mariscos (Peruvian paella,) Lomo Saltado (Seasoned beef sauteed with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, French fries, soy sauce and garlic served with rice,) and Tallarines Verdes with Shrimp (shrimps served on a bed of spinach and basil cream sauce with spaghetti and parmesan cheese.) All three dishes were tasty and had great portions so I was satisfied with their foods.

Going to try this place out. What is the least spiciest dish?

From my experience I didn't have any spicy dish, I'm not a fan of spicy food so I try to avoid them - good luck.

On top of that the menu changes every couple of months, which for me is nice because every time I come here I experience something a little different. Do keep in mind this particular location I've been here enough now that I notice some patterns. there's going to be a seasonal fish that is featured. There's also going to be some kind of stuffed mushroom which I like because I like mushrooms. They always have scallops which are always cooked to perfection. I often order that added on to the entree. There will be at least one steak dish and a chicken and a pork dish. they always feature on the appetizers the lump crab cake. it is what it sounds like, a large lump of crab that is breaded. To me it's not a true crab cake but rather a lump of fresh crab that's breaded and fried. It's ok if you're in to that. The one dish I was curious enough to try today was their Kona crusted lamb loin. I don't usually order lamb unless it's an Indian or middle eastern restaurant. I like lamb but it's not exactly something I crave. so how they explained it was that the Kona was basically using coffee grounds as a dry rub on the meat. So I got curious and ordered it. The grounds basically add a slightly different texture and adds a slight bitterness. Sort of like char from a grill. It was ok and interesting but what stood out the most was the fact that the meat was so perfectly cooked and so flavorful and tender that it overpowered whatever the grounds added to the meat. so I would recommend this solely on the basis of how perfectly tender and flavorful the meat was.

The roll is pretty expensive but honestly worth it in my opinion because of how much lobster they pack into it. The brioche bread was perfectly toasted. The lobster was fresh and buttery without making the bread soggy, even after pouring extra melted butter on top. This is definitely the best lobster roll I've had.

We put our name down on the Yelp waitlist and the wait for a party of 2 was maybe 90 min. Essentially if you go anytime on the weekend expect to wait at least an hour. There is no such thing as "off times" on the weekend. Evidently Boiling Crab is still as popular as ever. We didn't mind waiting. Once our number was next we were promptly seated. First thing I noticed was how great the service was from the host, to the waiters, to the helpers. We ordered shrimp and Cajun fries. Shrimp is $18/pound and it is the only seafood you can order by the half-a-pound. After ordering the food came out in less than 10 min. Besides the initial wait, everything else about the dining experience was very efficient, which tells me the long waits are not a fault to slow service. I think they are being as efficient as they can. The dining experience was pleasant. They supply bibs, gloves, etc for easy clean-up. There are TVs showing sports. We were out of there at $45 for two. A pretty good deal considering the unique dining experience. I can see why Boiling Crab remained popular after all these years.

First off, my friends had sat at the bar for a good 20 min before the bartender finally acknowledged them and took our drink order. Even then she was not very nice and totally made other patrons orders who had sat down after us before even trying to deliver our drinks to us. Once the drinks were delivered, they were pretty much slammed onto the bar counter rather than being delivered with care. Yikes. I had asked for a bar napkin because the rim was sticky and she completely ignored me. So rude. Our reservation on a Friday night with a show happening at Segerstrom was at 7:45pm which means the show crowd should have already left by this point. We easily didn't get seated until 8:15-8:20pm for a 7:45pm reservation because our table was lingering. Seems like poor table management on the restaurant's part to be that far behind schedule. Once we sat down, we did our best to order right away as we were starving and was pretty sure it would take awhile for the food to come out. Our server greeted us within a few min of sitting down and since we were ready to order by the time she showed up, we ordered everything from appetizers to full meal. Started with the croquetas and gambas. Both were good but honestly I've had better. The sauce for the gambas felt like the ratio of the sherry was a bit much and not enough spice. Ended up with the Paella Valenciana which was okay, but the flavors felt kind of bland and the scallops and shrimp inside seemed like they could have been cooked more thoroughly. I believe we got the 12oz New York Steak to share, and it felt the meat itself was super tender but lacked a bit of flavor for my liking. We wanted the broccolini but they ran out so ended up with the Brussel sprouts instead which were very good. Overall the ambiance inside the restaurant is a bit tight and chaotic for my liking. I definitely like the bar area better than the tables which were very close together, so may have to try dining at the bar next time.
