Have come by a few times to pick up bean and cheese pupusas, pastelitos de pollo, and their plátanos plate; quality is consistent and my order is always ready within 25 minutes. The pupusas are HUGE, very cheesy and the ratio of filling to masa is perfect. The salsa and curtido could use a bit more salt, but I still find them to be very traditional and tasty. The pastelitos are full of juicy chicken, and I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered the plátanos plate and saw how full of plátanos it was. Overall this is definitely my new pupusa place; I'd like to continue trying more of my Salvi favorites and make my way through the menu! Will be back for sure. read more

Decided to try a new (to us) restaurant in the area and this place hit the spot. The options are great, however we stuck to Pupusas only this time. A nice and welcoming restaurant with great takeout options. The service was great, the food took a bit- but it was 100% worth the wait. These are some filled pupusas with two different salsas. Amazing quality and will definitely be back to have more and try something new. Ps. Take out was packed so well our food was still nice and hot by the time we got home! read more

Was in the area and in search of some delicious Guatemalan food. El Curtido Pupuseria did not disappoint! I ordered the caldo de rez and it was perfect! Flavorful and came with home made tortillas. I also ordered a rice dough pupusas revuelta and it was my first time trying one that's not corn. The horchata was so yummy! I'm so glad I found this spot! Place was clean, staff was welcoming! Gabby was so kind and friendly, everyone made you feel at home! They also have sweet bread so I took some home! Give them a visit if you find yourself in the area, you won't regret it!

El Curtido Pupuseria is a phenomenal lunch option if you are in the Costa Mesa area!! The prices are extremely fair, and everything is made by hand to order, so your order might take a bit of time, but it is worth every single minute! I ordered 1 Pupusa Frijol y Queso, 1 Pupusa Frijoi Y Queso De Arroz, 1 Pupusa De Jalapeño Y Queso, 1 Pupusa De Asada Y Queso De Arroz, and 1 Small Agua de Horchata. Everything I had was delicious! I am eager to try more in the future. My favorite was the jalapeño and cheese, the bean and cheese was also extremely good, simple, but fantastic. Their curtido is to die for, I'd go back just for it! It was about $28 for the 4 pupusas and the horchata I got. Pretty fair for a meal that filled up two people with leftovers!! Please consider trying this place out! You won't regret it! read more

If you want real Salvadoran flavor, this is the spot! Their sopa de gallina is hands down the best rich, homemade taste that brings you straight back to El Salvador. The pupusas? Absolutely delicious perfectly crispy outside, cheesy and full of flavor inside. read more

The place is small and so is the menu but the food tastes like my mom might be in the back cooking. The pupusas are big and filling. Comparing it to San Sivar down the ways, I think I like this place better. read more

Delicious pupusas and very friendly service. My favorite was the pork and cheese on corn and my boyfriend's was the asada on corn. We will definitely be back for more soon! read more

If you're looking for a spot to satisfy your pupusa craving in OC, El Curtido is the place. We ordered pick up and one of the things I loved that they did was wrap the pupusas in foils in the to go box so they stayed hot. There's nothing worse than biting into a cold pupusa! I got two bean and cheese and my husband got a few revuelta and chicharrón. Everything was tasty and fresh and the curtido was the perfect topping. read more

I loved coming here pupusas are great! However recently this server I think her name is tatania is SO RUDE! She was not attentive and would give sas when I needed something as simple as my sodas that she forgot. Like if you don't like your job please don't leash out on customers because I would hate for this place to go down due to her service because I genuinely enjoy the food. Prior to her being here everything was 10/10 but please beware if she's your server...

The food is delicious and the service is amazing! Has not disappointed. My go to for pupusas and fried bananas.

So I've eaten here 6 times in the past 2 weeks... I definitely have a problem and I would usually expect to already be sick of eating at a place this much... but this place is AMAZING. Great prices and extremely extremely delicious food. Me and my girlfriend CRAVE their rice and beans... the service is always amazing and I'm just so happy to have found a papusa spot so amazing!!! PLEASE do yourself a favor and give it a try read more

Service was great, ladies are friendly and welcoming. Pupusas rebueltas, had more beans, barely chicharon and a bit tasteless, beans seemed watered down. Curtiodo was delicious Salsa tasted like water, both salsas were horrible. Platano macho yumm!!! Delicious. I will give this place 1 more chance before I say never again. read more

Looking for authentic Salvadorian food ? Here it is ! Found this place about a month ago, I've been twice ahha I wish I can come every day lol. It was extremely delicious and affordable. It really took me back to childhood, the tamales the pupusas the beans ugh it's perfect. I'll be back plenty more times. Don't miss out on this place. You won't regret it. 10 stars read more

The pupusas are delicious and they're not stingy with the filling at all:) horchata is homemade

Little hole in the wall... sooo good. We already had our go-to Salvadorean restaurant buuuuut this place now has us questioning ourselves haha. The customer service is top notch, very friendly and attentive staff. The pupusas, although seemed a little pricier than our regular place, almost $5 a pupusa (Rice dough is the way to go) after receiving them, the price is more than reasonable. The pupusas are huge and extremely well stuffed. We ordered Revuelta con Jalapeño ( beans, pork, cheese and jalapeno) and an order of Plátano Frito. The plate for Plátano Frito had sooooo many fried plantains, it was a pleasant surprise, most places only put like 6 pieces for $10, but not here, this one was packed! We definitely cannot wait to go back and introduce the rest of our family and friends to this hidden gem. Be sure to check them out, you won't be disappointed. read more

The food was so good and authentic. My favorite is the chicken soup/Caldo de Galina. Highly recommended!

3.75 stars What a pleasant surprise. We were visiting from out of town, and looking for a place to eat. We hadn't eaten pupusas in a very long while, so we decided to try El Curtido. The staff spoke to us in Spanish the entire time. Luckily I speak enough Spanish to relatively get by, but I don't have a Latin ethnic background at all. We were told to have a seat, and something else I didn't quite understand. We ordered: -revuelta pupusas -cheese, squash and beans pupusas -pork tamal -yucca frita We waited a really long time for our food. I could tell that others were waiting a long time as well. At one point, I went up to the front counter to ask about our food. They said it was coming soon. We got our food about 5 minutes after that. The good news is that everything was delicious. The pupusas were super-pillowy and flavorful. Of all the dishes we ordered, our favorite was the pork tamal. It was succulent and moist. I don't eat Salvadorian food very often, but it seemed like this place was really good. Just don't come when you're in a hurry. read more

I had high hopes for this place but who puts Mexican cheese in a revuelta pupusa!? Also where's the pork and beans? The other items were ok like the tamales de elote and the quesadillas (bread) read more

Amazing food! Our first time here, so delicious and authentic! I strongly recommend coming here!

This used to be a pizza place and is now a pupusa place but the pizza place had pizza and this place doesn't have pupusas ! False advertising. I went 2x to order rice pupusas (as advertised on their sign) and the first time was told to come back in the evening. Ok I can back and then she tells me oh no we aren't making them at all. San Sivar or El Chinaco for the pupusa fill. No hay pupusas de arroz y a lo que veo tampoco hay pupusas buenas. Mejor vayan a San Sivar o el Chinaco. read more

On recommendation from an El Salvodorena acquaintance, went to get some grub. Ordered the pupusas made from rice. The revueltas were great with generous curtido and some tasty salsas. Also tried the yuca frita. Very generous portions. Also very kind and helpful girl working the register and hand delivering orders to the waiting customers. Everything was made fresh to order. Will be back again! Thank you! read more

Just went for the first time this week and I had the bean and cheese pupusa. To be honest I first thought they were a little over priced but when I took them home and saw what I got I was truly impressed on the portion size and how they were filled. The taste was honestly pretty amazing in my opinion with plenty of cabbage and salsa. I will absolutely go back to try other things from their menu and I will be recommending this place to friends and family. Very pleased to see more local Hispanic food spots opening up. I feel like Costa Mesa is starting to really gentrified with lots of newer more expensive places opening up. Happy to support this business and enjoy the food read more
