    Flan type dessert

Good menu del dia. I had a salad, and a spare rib that was fatty, but delicious on the non fatty parts and the potatoes were so soft and garlicky. The bread -'d wine were great and the flan was nice nice too. Idk that I would go other than for menú del Dia.

I liked the place overall- it really seemed like a super traditional Spanish restaurant on the inside, but we had a super weird experience here. My friend and I were getting drinks and I thought I would want food to eat as well. I told someone at the bar that I was eating, but my friend was not. She said that was fine and told us to go to the dining room. We were quickly sat at a table. Upon examining their menu, I decided I just wanted a drink and dessert because none of the food sounded good at the moment. When I told the server I was just going to get the apple pie, she and another server were super upset that we were sitting in the dining room. I would understand if it was the weekend and they were busy, but it was a Wednesday night and there were many open tables. Despite this experience, it's still a cool place. I also acknowledge the language barrier, the servers just weren't super cool about it, especially since we said we could move to the bar if they wanted. What I ordered: I got sangria and apple pie. The prices were reasonable. The sangria was just okay. I don't think I'd get it again here. The apple pie was good, but it would have tasted better if it was warm instead of cold. (I forgot to take a picture of the pie, but the presentation was nice.)

We have walked by this restaurant a number of times and the aromas were always very enticing. The service was somewhat slow. The room was beautiful. We ordered ham croquettes and prawns and paella. They also served us some lovely manchego cheese. The croquettes came with this tasty apple filling and sweet potato chips. The prawns were huge and had a delicious sauce with them. The paella had shrimp and clams and crawfish in it. It was all very nice. We enjoyed our meal. I'm glad we ate there.

Went here on a group dinner and the food was great. We each ordered from the 16 euro menu, so we all chose an appetizer, entree, and dessert. They also start you off with a some Manchego cheese and bread, so that was nice. As soon as I saw they had prawns for an appetizer, I immediately chose it since prawns are generally so expensive. I was shocked when they served me a plate of 6 or so giant prawns. Grilled well, the meat was tender, plump, and delicious. For the entree, I chose the iberico pork sirloin, which came on skewers on top of toast. Maybe not that moist, but the meat was still savory. I absolutely loved the grilled padron peppers, though. The charred skin and juicy insides were so delicious, I honestly couldn't stop eating them. Some were really hot, too. Overall, I was really satisfied with my meal. 16 euros isn't the cheapest set menu, but you get a huge amount of food, so the value is there. I really love how they grill and char food, here.

We went to La Catedral for Menu del dia, which means lunch. The place has a climate for sure - it's dark and cramped, and the furniture gives it churchlike look. Lunch menu is pretty broad - around 8 positions of each course. For drinks you have to pay additionally, which I didn't like. We ordered seafood Fideuà, salmon with lobster sauce and lamb cutlets. Fideuà looked sad - it was seafood indeed if by seafood you understand two small pieces of squid. It lacked not only "meat" but also salt. Lamb was good, but out of 4 chops, 3 could be called "fat on bone". Blah. Fortunately salmon saved the day - it was really great and accompanying sauce was matched perfectly (lobster or no). No outdoor sitting. Cards are accepted. Short regular menu. Wouldn't revisit.

The place is very pretty, but the Food is horrible,...and the waitress was very rude. Only the decoración is nice. La comida es horrible.

Some hits and some misses. Interior is indeed cozy and beautiful. Service is friendly but a bit slow. FYI for lunch service, the kitchen doesn't open until 12:30 which is a little inconvenient for tourists accustomed to lunch at 12. The crab salad (7€) was pretty lousy. Tasted like fake crab, and the only avocado must have been hidden in the sauce because it was not perceptible. Also ordered the set menu which includes 2 courses, bread, and dessert or coffee (13.10€). For the first course, ordered the artichoke and mushroom lasagna. It was a different take on lasagna with puff pastry instead of pasta and no cheese, which is an interesting idea, but didn't taste very good. The artichoke and mushrooms were badly cooked and tasted bitter. The puff pastry was hard to cut through. The baked ham however was delicious. Super tender and succulent with vegetables dusted with sweet paprika. Coffees were pretty good too but a little pricier at 1.60€ for a cafe con leche. Overall would prefer a different establishment for lunch.

Croquettas- not the best but good.

Food was good, not excellent but well done. Service was ok; you need to work hard to get waiters' attention. We dropped by just by chance one Saturday afternoon when we were walking around the area. The interior has the atmosphere - dimly lit and nicely decorated. We had menu del dia (daily lunch special) as it was offered despite it was Saturday. (Some places in Madrid offered only during weekdays.) For 15.90 euro, you get appetizer, main and dessert or coffee. It didn't come with drink, which was a minus point, but still the price was good for the quality of food we got and convenient location for travelers. We 2 of us had croquetta and cazuelita de garbanzos con callos (chick pea and innards stew) for appetizer, pollo a la parrilla (chicken) and carrilleras de ternera (beef) for main, ending with coffee (for my husband) and tarta de queso (cheesecake, for me). They also had few other dessert options as well. Appetizers were fine. Not the best but still good. The mains were great. tender meat and delicious accompanying sauce. We cleaned our plates. Cheesecake was surprisingly good. Texture was similar to American cheesecake, but I could feel the hint of flavor of cheese other than cream cheese. With a bottle of water for share, the bill came down to about 35 euro for 2 people, which was good for the amount and quality of food. We were satisfied. Although service was somewhat slow, thanks to good food, overall experience was positive. You don't have to travel to this place for food, but if you are around in the area, this place can be a good option.

On the day that we ventured into Sol to have a look around what our guidebook described as 'Downtown Madrid', this was pretty much the first place we saw after almost falling off the train with hunger. After assessing the menu and deciding that it looked OK, then assessing the interior and deciding that it looked really nice, we grabbed ourselves a table. The unfortunate thing about Spain is that they don't appear to have grasped that wheat intolerances exist in most places, so absolutely everything comes with bread regardless of whether it says so on the menu. Even my Spanish omelette. All in all breakfast for two of us less than EUR10, which was the cheapest restaurant bill we had all holiday. It wasn't enough to stuff our faces, but it was adequate and tasty. The waiter was also really funny and friendly. My breakfast came with coffee included, prompting him to joke that English should want 'té' with their breakfast instead of 'café'. Then he seemed very proud that he'd taught me the Spanish for tea! Incidentally, I did opt for the tea.

The night time is the right time.

This is just a cool place to hang out in near the epicenter of Madrid. It is a close walk from everything and feels like a world away from home. (if your home is in the United States). Food is fine, plus it is just a neat place to grab a drink by the bar. The architecture and design of the building makes the food, drinks, and company feel that much better.

So glad that we found it because the everything was amazing. A small coffee & dessert shop that's very unique with an urban but home-like feeling. The owner was there to open and speaks English so that really made it comfortable for us to select what to eat. She gave us her recommendations on what to try being that you couldn't visually see what was inside most of the pastry items and the menu was in Spanish. I assume that it isn't a dog friendly venue...one of the patrons sat their dog outside while they enjoyed coffee. Their selections of pastries are endless; From cakes, to donuts, tarts, quiches, meat pies, meat empanadas, etc. I'm sad that I didn't try any of the sweets, but I did order the smoked salmon & queso cream cheese sandwhich, along with their puff pastry of spinach (my favorite) & beef & chicken empanadas. Light & small but shareable as my girlfriend and I enjoyed every last bite & toasted with a cup of coffee!
