I can't believe I lived in Washington Heights for so long and never visited La Casa del Pollo. The chicken always smelled so good but I never found an occasion to go. I was feeling a bit homesick for Dominican food today so I decided to stop by on my way home since it was on the way. While this the rotisserie chicken, they also sell other platters. I'm not sure if the menu changes daily but they had a display of cooked meats and rice ready to go. All of the meat, including grilled and stewed chicken, roasted pork (pernil), steak and meatballs all looked appetizing. They don't have the prices listed in the window so you have to just ask since it's not by weight. I'm sure they have a menu somewhere but when I walked in I just had to ask the lady at the counter. She took care of me right away and packed up a lunch size platter of the pernil (note that lunch platters are available even outside of "lunch" time) and a whole rotisserie chicken meal. Both meals were huge portions, enough to eat multiple times easily. It was an incredible value for the price. When I got home to eat it, the chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful. My fiancé devoured the pernil and Moro too. He loved it. Overall, this place isn't anything fancy by any means but the food alone makes it worthy of five stars. It's super delicious and affordable. I will definitely be back.

It is extremely difficult when you try to support local/small businesses, and they fail you time and time again... We previously got rotessery chicken, and it had like a foul smell and a mustard color... so we stopped supporting this business for some time. Then, we tried again and we ordered boneless fried chicken, rice and beans. The chicken was raw-- please see the pictures I posted!! What kind of NASTY plates are these people serving!?

This is good food! We got a great whole roasted chicken and rice. Other foods also looked good. Would return for some good take out.

Walked into Margon Restaurant in Midtown and instantly felt like I found one of NYC's secret cheat codes. Small space, big flavors, zero nonsense. The kind of place where you're elbow-to-elbow with strangers but everyone's united by one thing... serious hunger. Ordered the Cuban sandwich -- pressed, crispy, loaded with roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. One bite in and I stopped talking... which never happens. This thing didn't just deliver... it showed up early and over-prepared. Then came La Bandera Dominicana Braised beef swimming in savory gravy, yellow rice piled like a mountain, black beans doing their thing, and sweet maduros sitting on top like the victory flag. Simple. Comforting. Dangerous... because now I want it every week. Place gets busy, gets loud, gets chaotic... but it moves like a well-oiled machine. Years of experience and zero attitude. Just good people making great food. In a neighborhood full of tourist traps, this hole-in-the-wall is throwing haymakers. Sometimes the best escape in NYC isn't a rooftop... It's a Cuban sandwich and a plastic tray. And honestly... I'd pick that every time. #nycfood #hiddennyc #midtowneats

There were lots of choices available - we chose the fried chicken chunks and the Cuban sandwich. All were very tasty - would have been awesome if the chicken pieces were boneless but it was still good regardless. We were able to sit down and ate the food there to keep it nice and fresh.

Wagner was great a wonderful personality and he made sure everything was to our liking checking on us periodically. I have been here before (the first time we did assorted appetizers) so but this time I dove into the dinner menu. The oxtail pasta was absolutely lovely, the meat was tender and delicately seasoned. I had the steak (I prefer my steak more on the well side) and the chef managed to keep it positively tender and juicy. Perched on top of a few slices of fried casava slices and a small side salad. You can never leave without trying the flan it's one of the best I have ever had. Service was quick and food was bought to us piping hot. The only down side is they oddly don't make pina coladas (it's the only thing I drink) and the restaurant was a bit too cold but other than that it was a lovely birthday dinner for my friend. Buena Vista is small and popular so I strongly suggest you make reservations if you plan on eating here.

Short on time, with just 40 minutes to dine, we thought we'd be wise to limit ourselves to starters and drinks. Greedily, though, we asked our server Carlos if he thought we had enough time for entrees. He said let's try! Trusting his wisdom and his consultation with the kitchen, we ordered the beet salad plus the langostino ravioli and the Chilean sea bass. To drink we had a strawberry martini and the guava and basil margarita. Every morsel was delectable. All of the dishes were colorful and interesting and robust with complex flavors and textures. The fish was cooked perfectly, light on the tongue. My daughter did ask for an adjustment to her drink upon first sip, and they accommodated graciously. We enjoyed our meals at an easy pace, got the check while finishing our drinks, paid via QR code, and made it to the show with 15 minutes to spare, satiated and satisfied. Regrettably, we didnt have time for dessert. So, good reason to go back SOON.

It's spacious and there are lots of tables and seating for large groups. There were only a few other patrons at the tables but at the counter I could tell from conversations a group of regulars. It's the kind of place that's definitely a neighborhood meet up spot. My server said I could sit wherever I wanted. I ordered black coffee and mangu with fried salami. I wanted sustenance and stick to your rib kinda food as I had a long day ahead in the nasty weather. The menu offered lots of choices. My food took about 15 mins to arrive. I wasn't in a rush . My mangu was prepared fresh, I could tell by the lingering steam that maintains its vigor till the last morsel. The pickled onions were really done nicely- the perfect amount to acidity I enjoy . My salami was not overly salty . I really felt like cuddling up in a blanket and staying in after that comforting homemade meal . I'm going to come back to try ptjer items when I'm in the area again. My server was attentive and checked on me several times. Overall a great experience. One thing to note is that tje bathrooms are located down a very steep flight of stairs and there no elevator, so access is limited.
