Horrible experience. We came in at 7 sat down at 8 that's understandable after a busy Friday afternoon. But for them to bring our drinks till almost 40 minutes after ordering them is crazy. Our waitress was too overwhelmed and never came check for refills. Our kids burger came out raw two times and took 20 minutes to bring it back out once they did eveyone was done eating. None of the other waitresses were working as a team and trying to help the server since he was overwhelmed. I never seen a manger in site trying to direct the afternoon. I really hope they fix this problem. read more

Whenever I'm back in Houma, I'm coming back here for the food and vibes. Servers were attentive and offered to split checks right away. My drink was strong and everyone loved the free chips and salsa...except the aunts who didn't like cilantro, but WHO DOESNT LIKE CILANTRO?!?! :-) I loved hearing the loved band, Bang Bang! It's a great place for family and groups. We enjoyed all of our entrees. I made reservations for 10 people and they had the table ready in the best spot to see the band. Customer service is a dying art in some places but not here. We all felt well taken care of. Those three things will keep me coming back and bringing a group along with me. read more

Service and ambience was nice. Food was mediocre at best. Strawberry mahi salad was ok but could have been done MUCH MUCH better and the fish was overcooked and grossly under seasoned. Two of the orders at our table had their plates mixed together. My guests said it was adequate but nothing special. The blackberry margaritas were good though, and that's what we were really went to try. Unlikely to return. However. Too many other options with much better food in this area. I went to eat fajitas and I told server when she brought my fajitas out that I wanted lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and some guacamole that wasn't black. That is what I had ordered not what I got. The guacamole was black on the plate. The fajita meat tasted like it had been rolled in salt. Will never go back! Cause the waitress never came back to the table not good customer service! read more

La Carreta is one of my go to restaurants in Houma. The food is consistently good if I order my favorites. The atmosphere is fun and casual! If you'd like to amp up your dining experience, request to sit outside--it's lovely. I have never had to wait to be seated even during some of the busier times. The restaurant and restrooms are always clean. I recommend ordering the chicken quesadilla, cheese enchilada, beef burrito, or the Monterey chicken. An order of queso will complete your meal! I do not recommend the birria tacos--they are too salty. Any margarita is a good idea! Unfortunately, my last experience was not good but I won't let that overshadow my love for La Caretta. We waited an hour and a half for our food and had to ask several times for it. We watched surrounding tables come and go before we received our food. We are certain that the order was never given to the kitchen. I bragged about the restaurant and had my friends come with me that had never been--unfortunately, they won't come back. We needed a quick spot to grab lunch before my SO headed back home and we decided we wanted Mexican. I got the lunch special tacos and selected the tacos al carbon. The tortillas were exceptionally tiny, even for street tacos that I've gotten at other places. Even though they were tiny they were stuffed with meat, avocado slices, onion and cilantro. They also included an avocado sauce, pico de gallo, and a verde salsa for the tacos. The tacos also came with a side of black beans and rice. Our house margaritas were watered down lime mix with little flavor. My wife got the burrito bowl which was a salt bomb that she couldn't eat. I got the sampler plater which was just OK. Maybe it was just an off night in the kitchen, but we were extremely disappointed, especially given the recommendation we got from the hotel. read more

I have visited many different La Carreta's throughout South Louisiana for years'. My experience with this one, however, was distressingly terrible! I will never visit a La Carreta again. This restaurant is not sanitary, few people had their mask on, it was way over capacity, the staff was unprofessional, etc. While speaking to the manager outside of the restaurant, he blankly said to me, "I cannot enforce someone to wear their mask!" Absolutely no one was following the guidelines that are STATE MANDATORY, due to Covid-19! It is STATE mandatory to wear a mask, stay 6ft apart, and stay at a certain capacity! THIS IS A WORLD PANDEMIC! There are businesses, countries and cities that are being shutdown! I work at a restaurant, and a funeral home in New Orleans. People ARE dying! I see it every single day, and not just old people or people with immune deficiencies! Every age and every race is catching this. I have never made a bad review on yelp, nor any website. La Carreta is a popular Mexican chain in this area. Although it's not my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area, the atmosphere is unlike any other. Undoubtably a local hang out, it had something for everyone. Supreme margaritas, bottomless mimosas and live music are the focal point of any given weekend. Brunch is a huge hit on sundays, with reservations set a few days in advance. Indoors is also a nice casual feel with day of the dead murals and a cozy bar in the corner. The food is not the best around, but it is tasty and the hang out relaxing ambiance is worth the stay. read more

The chipotle poblano tacos from the lent menu were very good! Loaded with gulf shrimp and cheese! Service was quick and efficient our waiter stopped by a couple times to check on us and cleared items quickly that were no longer needed. My wife had the shrimp quesadilla and said it was very good. A nice balance of sweet and heat on the shrimp & crawfish and a generous portion. The special of the evening was 1/2 price wine. Overall a very nice experience. read more

We ordered the La Mexicana dish, and beef fajita. Chips and salsa with delicious. The coke was delicious, fajita had 10,000 onions and about 5 pieces of meat. Fajita beef was chewy. No flavor. This must have been my WORSE pickup order EVER!!! When I called in the lady said give them 20 minutes that was at 6:29 , I arrived at 6:52 another car pulled on side waiting as well finally a girl came out asked the name for the order and I gave it and she said are you sure that's the name I said yes unless they miss heard me and I told her what my order was and the round about total (she acted like my order didn't exist), she got the car on side their whole order out to them and never came back out for mine so I called at 7:10 they said orders are a 30 minute wait and said my ticket just came up and that she'll box it and bring it out , the SAME girl from before comes out nothing in her hands no receipt for me to pay, no food and she asks me what was the name for my order like I was a whole new person and she said oh there's your food and another girl was on her way to me and I paid and I checked my food , they forgot some things and how I wanted my food but it was minor things but when I actually touched and tried my food in the parking lot my food was light warmed!!!! When I was told that my food JUST came up and not just sitting out so why wasn't it HOT ? A waste of my time and money plus a damn tip because I know everything is not always the servers fault but damn service, food and whole experience was very TERRIBLE! read more

This place is around the corner from my house, there buffalo chicken on taco Tuesday is a crowd pleasure and one of my favorites, they make some of the best Margaritas in town, they also have good free complimentary chips and salsa with bar seating inside, outdoor patio seating with live bands most nights really cool atmosphere. read more

Definitely my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Houma area! The food is great, and the wait is never long. Staff members are very polite, and if you're there on a Thursday or Friday night, you can catch a band. Not to mention... the margaritas are to die for! The food and drinks are a bit pricier than most other Mexican restaurants though. Knowing that we'll likely spend between $30 and $50 on the meal, we tend to save out visits for special occasions. read more
