The french toast and fried chicken were particularly good. The service was fast, and we were able to get a table for eight after waiting just a few minutes. It's a relief to find someplace where we can all eat. I bet this will be in the Hayward rotation of spots we regularly go to.

The store is open for walk up/carry out service but the seated dining area is closed. If you call to order a cake you are supposed to call a day ahead of time. If you do call I suggest you leave a detailed message of the cake you are ordering. But, you can walk in and pick out a cake out of the cooler and they will write a message on it for you. The door is open before hours to allow employees in but you can not order anything before the opening hour. Once we picked out our cake and had a message written on it we were on our way. Staff was friendly and upbeat. We did get there at 10:30 when they opened so there was not yet a long vehicle line at the drive thru. We picked up a Blizzard chocolate peanut butter cup cake and everyone agreed it was delicious. They do have minimum amounts of premade ice cream treats in the freezer for walk ins.

But it takes one bad employee to turn that over again. The third time was me walking up to the counter saying "I have a mobile order", and giving my name... and she steps up to the cash register to say " what would you like"? I said, excuse me? I just told you I'm here for my mobile order. I had a salad, a cheeseburger, a soda, and a medium blizzard to pick up... and she asked if I wanted a bag. I said how else am I going to carry all of this? She put an empty cup on the counter for me... I've never had to fill my own drink at DQ so I had to ask where that is done. I found it before she answered me. Came back to the counter and had to weave my way through three other customers. She was leaning on the counter. I said "is the rest of my order ready?" She said what else did you have? OMG are you serious? Look at my receipt. "OH. OK well your blizzard is up there..." points to an unlidded drink way out of my reach all while she's just standing there, leaning on the counter. So I had to weave my way back through the other customers to go get a lid. Came back and my salad was under the heat lamp. I said can you please get my salad out from under the heat lamp? And get one of those large plastic bags, please. Now, where is my cheeseburger? (as I'm putting everything in the bag.) as I was leaving I asked are you new? "Yes". I said well you need to learn how to help your customers more. That's literally your job. Not mine. When I order a mobile order, it should be ready for me to pick up and go with it.
